If they put more into character designs and dictate they must look a certain way, it is done. It's not always the case, but there have been plenty of people in the industry who have proudly proclaimed they put fomo representation issue first and foremost in their work. If you have a company that feels they can get a lot of goodwill sales from essentially 'we sucked the diversity butthole, but our product :)' and they put in 1/4 of the effort into the quality of everything else, that's a successful product as far as the bean counters or Investors are concerned. They don't give a frick about the quality or SoVl! of the product, they give a shit that the expenses were much lower than the profits. And if they feel the fomo social issues sells, they'll try their hand at it.

They're in the same game. These two are more than enough to bring the whole thing down. Developers don't know when to stop, from a "cool" superhero-like band of "persian" supersoldies down to even basic attack flinging particles and moronic zoom in on special moves.
The other part is that this is just another cookie-cutter metroidvania, which could be fine, but has nothing to do with Prince of Persia. I haven't gotten that far in before getting bored and quitting, but it's filled with closed gates obvious double-jumps, very lazy design, especially if you compare it to Ori or Metroid Dread, where you might not even realize something was a shortcut until you get the ability to go through it.
It's incredibly secondary and mediocre, made by people who have heard of videogames and grew up reading comics and watching cartoons, the games are only going to get worse from here.
It doesn't look good either, the action scene animations on top of the exaggerated weapon trails make it feel really cartoony, I don't really remember what Prince of Persia was but I don't think it was this.
Some of the presentation in this game is really fricking weird.
It's trying REALLY hard to be over the top "anime" in the way it does cutscenes. It even has some intro screens for the bosses that just look offputting when they were clearly trying to make it look cool.

Better combat than HK, jump puzzles are fun. Only a few hours in so I don't know if the map and exploration are as good as HK, it's a high bar to reach. Never played Dread or Bloodstained.
The platforming and movement feels as good as Dread.
The combat and bosses while is as involved as HK.

The world itself is drab and boring as frick, it's not interesting to explore at all and it doesn't have any of the kino discovery moments Holliw Knight excelled at.
So as an action platformer? I dare say its excellent. 8.5-9/10.

The MC's ugly face is ALWAYS being focused on because the game has lots of cutscenes. Also, any fricking time you do a successful parry or during a boss fight, the camera zooms into this frickers face every single damn time.
