Because both Nintendo and it's own community killed the fricking game. It's literally bleeding players to Multiversus. It has 200,000 players on Steam alone.

      >it's own community
      >bleeding players to Multiversus
Yeah, maybe. Not a single person in Japan or Europe gives a frick about Multiversus though, it's an American thing. The American Smash scene had already been declining rapidly in contrast to its still continuing expansion worldwide. It'll end up like Dota where not a single person in the North American continent plays it but the community is still huge because who really cares about burgers at the end of the day.

You're delusional. That "American thing" is the most played fighting game at the moment. I want to stress again that it has over 200,000 current players on Steam alone. It's probably closer to 500,000 if you factor in the other platforms, and that's just a conservative estimate. You're crazy if you think these are all Americans getting tired of Smash and not a multinational, multiplatform megaplayerbase. There's so many people playing the game that the servers are struggling to handle them all. This never happened to Smash, not even once.

No, it doesn't you fricking shill. It had 150k and it drops to 50k off of peak times, indicating a strong regional bias.

I'm sorry I broke your programming, shill-kun. A peak drop as much as Multiverse is statistically significant considering it's usually 50% most games. And the peak seems to be American prime time, curious. I wonder why that is the case for such a multinational, multiplatform megaplayerbase.

MultiVersus is actually good, fun, and most importantly:

    can actually be played online.

      >can actually be played online.
This. Even Walmart tier wifi connection gives you a significantly better experience in MultiVersus than a good connection would get you in Smash Ultimate. It's absolutely moronic how you let Nintendo get away with it.

I don't disagree with him that the characters are floaty, but at least that means they have actual movement. Ultimate has less movement tech than even Smash 4 which is unforgiveable.

It's floaty incomplete garbage with a mediocre roster

        Anonymous

Mediocre how? It has Super Man and Iron Giant together in the same game. Posts like these just solidify the fact that people only gave a shit about Ultimate because of its roster. It's all you can fricking think about. You can't comprehend the fact that another company managed to have both fun characters and gameplay that isn't AIDS.

I have been playing Smash since Melee. The series in general is finally starting to feel old to me. Sakurai was right to call this the finale.

Every other game, including fighting games, have better online than this piece of hot dogshit. How they got away with fricking Limewire p2p connections in this day and age is beyond me. I refunded the game as soon as it became apparent the online was fricking garbage and I give zero fricks about the DLC character shit. Smash is fricking dead. Nintendo wants you to buy the next new smash, buy the DLC and then stop playing it.

It's not fun to play. In fact I'd say it's the complete opposite and you feel irritate every time you stop playing. Doesn't even matter if you're winning or losing. The bad online is just icing on the cake

Maybe try to sound believable and you'd be taken seriously. As a multiplayer game it's a step up from Brawl simply because it's less floaty with more characters. It also works well as a game in general. If you've literally played 1000 games, you should've come across dozens of broken ones that are nigh unplayable.

            Anonymous

It plays nothing like Brawl, showing how you haven’t played many games. The only game that even comes close to how janky and awful it plays is super smash flash 1, the flash game. Ultimate chicken horse has better physics than this trash. I can’t comprehend how anyone could enjoy a game with such little depth as this one.

Wow only took you three tries to make that post.
Anyway the differences between Brawl and Smash 4 in gameplay are much smaller than SSB64->Melee and Melee->Brawl. I think SSB64->Melee goes without saying, so for Melee to Brawl you have
              >Tripping
              >Auto l-cancel making it less clunky at casual level
              >Way less hitstun making combos nearly impossible
              >Much more survivability coupled with very floaty physics so fights drag out like crazy
Smash 4 is way more in line with Brawl in that, except with better hitstun for example. So I wonder which part of the physics is so different according to you that makes Smash 4 so unplayable supposedly. Cause Brawl was a mess even if I liked it.

                >smash 4
This is a thread about ultimate not smash 4, smash 4 and ultimate play entirely differently. Big rigs over the road racing is better than ultimate. Smash 4 is at least decent.

                Anonymous

Oh my bad, it's even worse cause Ultimate at least has less defensive gameplay and more a more balanced cast than Smash 4. Still felt generally the same as Smash 4 and Brawl physics wise. Unless people are upset about balloon knockback, cause then they clearly don't know about Brawl's amazing gameplay.

                Anonymous

Yes the balloon knockback makes the game play like fricking shit

                Anonymous

See, that's where you're fundamentally wrong, cause it makes the game much more dynamic. It doesn't even let you survive more, it just let's you come back to the stage quicker. One of Brawl's main flaws was that after getting out of hitstun, you still flew away even further which combined with the floatiness just made the recovery take much longer.

                Anonymous

                >take longer
Who cares you must have adhd or something. I don’t care if it’s slow. I want it to be good. Like I said I like Melee and Brawl. The problem with ultimate is it becomes like pong, you hit each other back and forth and bounce around like ping pong balls and it sucks, instead of fixing this in patches they just made everyone even more overpowered and now it plays like smash flash.

                Anonymous

I'm playing a fighting game, of course I want some more fast paced action. Also for Brawl it wouldn't be just once or twice per stock, you'd just float around for half a minute because you can survive so much all while the one on stage has advantage.

So it isn't being fixed cause there's nothing to fix.

                Anonymous

I don’t think smash is a fighting game and I don’t like it to play like one. I think ultimate is just designed badly on a fundamental level. Most heavy weights play like a light weights would in earlier entries. You can knock people off the stage in only a few hits and this really isn’t satisfying because it takes all the depth the earlier entries had out of the game. No longer is it about timing and dodging to avoid attacks, it’s really shallow and lacks any meaning and it’s satisfying to play. Smash can be quick and still have skill be designed well like Melee, the problem is this just isn’t that. Everyone is way too overpowered.

I agree Brawl has some of the best physics of the series, Besides 64 and Melee. I never understood the complaints about Brawl. IMO smash 4 was a massive downgrade from Brawl because that game was great and ultimate is an ever bigger downgrade from 4.

The game feels like shit to play tbh. The controls are janky and clunky. I've never had a smash game not read so many of my inputs before or made me accidentally do another attack. Or how sticky some of the shit is. Like when I try to go down through a platform it'll just crouch instead or how sometimes I'll enter an input and my character will just do fricking nothing at all

Every attack is fricking so safe and I absolutely hate it. Even some smash attacks are safe. The first time I saw incineroar do a smash I was blown away by how quickly he could act afterwords and the garbage online just makes it 10x more annoying.

I hate how much sakurai has fricked the game up since melee just because he hates competitive players this much
