Why don’t more devs use low-poly models in combination with cel shading more

Why don’t more devs use low-poly models in combination with cel shading to make games that look great while running flawlessly at high framerates?

This is my goty but I don’t think it’s the best example despite being stylish. I agree with you though. Nintendo games for example would run magnificently on non mobile hardware and still look beautiful. Developers are trying to go all in on graphical fidelity and ignoring the fact that this new computational power allows them a lot more freedom with game design

Neo: TWEWY looks fricking awful. Like an early PS3 game. It doesn't help that it's janky as all hell, like a rejected VITA port. Waifus are the only reason I even bothered playing in the first place.

What’s so janky about it? It played smooth as hell for me.

I have a base PS4, once you start using four buttons it hits massive slowdown. Especially if the attacks are coming from different directions.

I have a base PS4 as well and I didn’t have those issues.

    How's the post game?

Secret Reports and Final Time Attack are still a thing, and Another Day is in, though it’s noticeably shortened compared to the original. Still fun, though.

This game was disappointing and I'm surprised how much Ganker shills it.

There will always be a portion of Ganker to shill console exclusives.

I dunno about you but as someone who loved the original TWEWY, I honestly love NEO just as much.

me too and the original TWEWY is like my favorite game. NEO was better than I ever thought a sequel would have been

same. i invested alot of time into it and it was my most anticipated game this year. It's really just mediocre and nothing else. For storygays you get a cheap western-esque writing and for combogays you get a very limited toolbox that won't go past "silly interaction".
The combo scene was already small on YouTube but it just fricking died halfway in.
Nobody is discussing this game outside Ganker

they don't make money. your average kkona doubel-uzi amerimutt avengers fan doesn't like them and won't buy them. Square and other companies get sadge and suicidal for not swimming in an even bigger pool of cash because of that.
Enjoy NEO. You won't see anything similar anytime soon. At least not from professional companies who know how to make games.

Because that doesn't look great. That looks like fricking puke.

    I'm definitely considering it.

Mapping textures onto low poly models and making good looking pixel textures fricking sucks ass. Games like Sable look beautiful with cell shading and have basically zero textures

even games with stylized realism would be good tbh. not saying i dont like hyper realistic looking games but AAA devs feel like they have to do that type of stuff to stay competitive when it isn't true

    because of "MUH REALISM" anon.
as can be seen from plenty people in this thread, most of them dont care for a game unless its standing on the line of uncanny valley.
truly is a shame. but we know which group of people to blame for long dev times and disappointing gameplay.
