Literally nothing you do in the game has any consequences. You can be a pirate and still visit UC planets without getting attacked. Pretty fricking stupid considered the whole point of the game is going to NG+ and changing universes. They could've let you frick up everything and start over at the Unity. They went through the pain of making a lore for the Va'ruun and they don't even fricking exist in the game.
They could've saved it with fun gameplay but it's outdated garbage with polished graphics.
All the enemies are the same, guns suck ass, the attachment/customization mechanic is a pain in the ass and is not worth it given how often you drop good loot, the base building system is an even greater pain in the ass and completely useless in the gameplay. Ship design is pointless too. Spend one fricking hour designing to see a pretty ship landing in the loading screen.

I don't play Rome2 (because it was shit on release) but there's a large community of people playing some mod overhaul that gets praised constantly.
The only thing KSP2 has going for it is graphics and you can mod KSP1 to look comparable or just leave it vanilla and enjoy non terrible FPS.
Future is going to be even worse with more and more games being locked down to prevent modding. Just look at battlefield and current total war restricting what you can do.
