FFXIV is a content starved game once you hit max level, what that means is that most people will play to the end of the MSQ, do a few side activities, then quit until the next expansion. The people that are constantly in the game and never leave are, by definition, terminally online freaks who do not value their time, and as such are generally the dregs of humanity. If you want to interact with decent people in FFXIV play on the launch of the expansion, and walk away after a few months at most.
