"gamers" became a thing because anyone who identified as such was just coming to college age and literally had no standing or interest in politics until becoming an """adult""" made them. then, surprise surprise, gamers all fell on different sides of the political horse shoe and started flinging shit at each other like babies, because they were immature and underdeveloped. one side decided that being a "gamer" was a taboo and bad thing and then labeled them as chuds and incels, and the other side took it as a compliment and continued using "Gamer words", and as such, no one ever actually grew up and realized that nothing they believed in mattered in the slightest and the only thing that ever mattered was pushing yourself forward and making yourself successful in spite of everyone who hated you (everyone)
Most people are racist and sexist, but try to hide it in public. Video games give them a space to engage in bad behavior, and they don't think to turn it off when other players get involved.
