Why the frick would a game no one wants to play need to fight piracy?
I was thinking of getting into Yakuza. I heard that 7 is a good game to start with because it's got a new protagonist that was in prison during the events of the previous games so they introduce concepts as characters as if you're a new person experiencing them for the first time. I also don't mind that it's apparently an RPG. I guess my question is, if I start from 7, can I play all subsequently released games without issue, or do I still have to go back and play some older games to understand them?
y7 is a new running story because of the new protag so it's a good entry point for players. y8 is a bit problematic though, given that it has kiryu wrapping up his story, it loses a lot of emotional impact if the player don't know the back story.
I see, so I guess the hope is that I'll like 7 so much that it'll make me want to go back and play all the old games instead of just keeping up with the new ones. Which is fine if the games are good, it's just that it seems like a lot of games to play and I'm guessing they aren't short. So for now I'll just play 7 and then see which way the wind takes me.
No it reminds how moronic its kiryu still there after 6
a few of the earlier characters makes apperances, but they are relatively minor, and you dont need to have played their games to follow and apreciate LaD.
Source: LaD was my first Yakuza game.
Probably makes the investors feel more confident in the product? That's my guess.
Only pirates get mad at Denuvo and DRM. Pay attention the next time you see someone b***h and cry. They're a crybaby pirate every time. You don't deserve shit. CACA. You morons think companies are bad when all they want to do is protect their game from being stolen. It's a bit silly, but look at where we are...
I think companies are bad because they make shit products and make them even worse with drm
Except Denuvo impacts the performance of the game for paying customers too. Here's the thing, pirates don't care about Denuvo because when the game gets cracked it removes Denuvo. It's only paying customers that have to suffer through the bullshit Denuvo brings. So if you support Denuvo, then enjoy the hell of your own making.
Why does every homosexual assume this game's future flop status is based on DRM or the heckin' microtransactions? It was never about your disingenuous crusade against game ownership. The game will flop because it simply failed to connect with its core audience. Rocksteady fans wanted Arkham-like gameplay and instead we got Fortnite goyslop. Stop hijacking our mob.
I don't care whether it flops or not, my post had nothing to do with that.
I care about being punished for someone else's actions with shotgunned approaches that effectively do nothing.
How about its core audience doesn't like DRM and microtransactions either, you fricking moron?
Core audience doesn't give a frick about DRM and microtransactions. We would gladly stomach both for a great game.
That's where you're wrong
Nobody said any of that. You're just trying to start a DRM fight.
Denuvo cracking is dead. The only person in world who could crack Denuvo retired. Denuvo is now completely uncrackable now. Any new game that has Denuvo in it will never be cracked until the dev removes it. (because they have to keep paying Denuvo monthly fees)
>The only person in world who could crack Denuvo retired.
If you're talking about Empress, the only post I could find claiming such a thing was a blatant April Fool's joke. Did you really fall for that?
Also there was a copypasta about someone who spent thousands of dollars on Empress but then Empress banned him when he tried to buy Empress' underwear, and Empress actually confirmed this was true in the usual broken English way. Which kind of blows my mind, here you have a guy who is actually willing to spend thousands of dollars on you and you just lock him out like that. I don't get how someone could turn down such an easy opportunity for free money.
Cause Empress is a Bulgarian man, he can’t send his own manly underwear or people would realize
All you'd have to do is buy some women's underwear from the store and spray it with some perfume, and nobody would suspect a thing.
Expect empress hasn't cracked anything since Dead Island 2 or was it Resident Evil 4. It's been well over a half a year since she has cracked anything.
Huh, it didn't feel like that long. It's crazy how rarely I actually want to play games that have Denuvo, almost like there's a correlation between the use of Denuvo and the game not being worthwhile.
Looking into it I'm seeing something about Empress laying low after some doxing incident or something, so I guess it's the same thing that shuts down most pirates, eventually someone finds them.
On the bright side it does seem like this is pushing other people to take a more active role in cracking Denuvo. I imagine that eventually someone will have a breakthrough and piracy won't be so reliant on one person. In the meantime, I've got plenty of DRM-free games to play.
Ahahahaha
This post reeks of sour grapes
Well grapes don't smell like anything moron so frick you. I notice you didn't actually name a good game with Denuvo, probably because you can't think of one, so all you have is acting vaguely superior.
>Only pirates get mad at Denuvo and DRM
This. never had a problem with copy protection myself. I guess it's just because i'm a decent person.
Ironic shitposting is still shitposting.
And people who have a shit pc.
On the contrary, these anticheats only hurt paying customers and lower the value of games.
I have to deal with a shittier game, sometimes even unplayable on something like Steam Deck all to be reminded that my money isn't enough and that some corporate piece of human garbage wants another yacht he isn't getting out of whatever I'm playing.
Pirates will get the game without denuvo anyways, they'll just have to wait, but people who do that sort of thing are already accustomed to it.
These things don't have no cost, they come at a cost of goodwill from the consumer, if I'm being punished for pirates existing and being treated like one why the frick shouldn't I join them?
sorc?

>Hey i'd like to buy this car.
>OK we'll keep the car here, you don't really own it, you can't modify it or park it at more than 5 designated spots.. and you need to ask our permission every time you use it.
>it also runs 20% worse than its performance should be and were going to invade your space and monitor you whenever you drive it.
>also we can just take it from you at any time.
how about you frick off and die you slimey israelite c**t.
You WOULD download a car
Yeah just lemme get the torrent first
Mildly related, I'm reminded of the 3d printing space where most people post really useful designs for free. You can take it, print it, modify it, just not mass produce it. All the author just wants is credit.
>chatbot tier rant thrown out as bait even though it makes no sense given what the OP is about
Yep, I'm on Ganker again.
this is so fricking ignorant and I'm tired of hearing it from moronic dumb ass homosexuals.
wasn't going to buy it and now i won't even take for free from timmy
Even if i was able to pirate this piece shit. I wouldn't play it either.
I am positive that there are people behind this game that wanted rocksteady to die. There is no other explanation
Ever since David Zaslav took over WB he's been methodically killing everything good, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is a calculated effort on his part.
In all fairness, capeshit doesn't print money anymore. I think it's a good thing that he's fazing this stuff out.
agree on capeshit, but from what I've seen he's going through and removing basically anything animated, then reporting that their animation division isn't making enough money, so he justifies the cuts afterwards. I don't get his business strategy because no one seems to like him and they aren't reporting record profits or anything
>David Zaslav was born into a israeli family[5][6] in New York City's Brooklyn borough[7] on January 15, 1960.[8] His family spent the diaspora in Poland and Ukraine.[9][10] At the age of eight, he moved with his family to Ramapo, New York, where he graduated from Ramapo High School.[11][12] He earned a B.S. from Binghamton University, then graduated with honors from the Boston University School of Law with a J.D. in 1985. He started his career as an attorney with LeBoeuf, Lamb, Lieby and MacRae in New York.[13]
Yeah, he's israeli. But he's also extremely right wing so /misc/tards pretend not to care about that once they find out. Which I assume you will now be doing the same since you only just learned about his existence and weren't expecting to be one of yours.
>Yeah, he's israeli. But he's also extremely right wing
lol yeah right wing just like donald trump and ben shapiro
only cattle zogbots and leftard Black folk like you fall for this shit
Case in point
you're woke
It's ok to be woke
The ones in charge of said parties don't actually care about said talking points. It's all political theater.
>he's also extremely right wing
That just means he wants whitey to die in a pointless war on top of the usual stuff.
After being forced to watch that god awful aquaman movie, I do not mind this. If this was available to pirate more people would exposed to this crap, which is a bad thing.
shhh
don't ask questions
only consoom product
JUST CANCEL IT ALREADY FFS!!
An extra level of "frick you" to the consumer. Doesn't Denuvo literally rape online services too like this? Didn't Payday3 try to sneak it in before launch and had to remove it because it make multiplayer unplayable?
>Denuvo
Somehow we have found a way to become more dead-on-arrival. Impressive.
suggest one more thing that could possible make this worse lmao
>Making your game take a huge hit in performance to fight off pirates from playing an always online game
NO ONE WINS, POST JONKY DANCING
>denuvo
>always online
Isn't the always online enough DRM? lol
I really think they should just cancel the game and take a tax write off like Creative Assembly did with Hyenas.
Yeah, i am sure plenty of people would have pirated an online game where they can't even acesss 99% of the content offline
I have no idea what denuvo is and never played a game that has them
Did denuvo have a bargain sale or smn?
Shit used to be expensive. Or maybe they bought more licenses than they needed?
They changed their model some time ago i guess. Many games remove Denuvo now after a certain amount of time so i guess it might be more expensive to just keep it in the game for long?
Some titles like Monster Hunter Rise kept it forever but thats a game that constantly got updated and only removed it recently because of Capcoms Enigma bullshit.
Which is funny cause Enigma gets cracked within hours/days unlike Denuvo.
No, that's the thing, MHRise's Denuvo was removed exactly two years after the game's release. They buy a license for Denuvo for two years and then get rid of it because it's too expensive to be worth it after that point. They know Enigma isn't going to stop anything but I guess they have to put some DRM on the game to please investors.
Nah, Enigma was a recent brainfart due to the whole modding thing.
This also happend with other titles that haven't been around as long
>Ghost Trick remake has Denuvo
>only been out for a few weeks
>now replaces Denuvo with Enigma because Capcom hates mods
>Enigma doesn't even stop mods
>now crackers broke Enigma on Ghost Trick and pirates can play it
Just one big Capcom frickup
Well, hopefully they learn their lesson that trying to stop modding is not worth the PR hit. But it's Capcom so I can't say I expect that.
These companies need to realize that Denuvo, and DRM in general have such a bad reputation in the gaming community that if you take a hardline anti-DRM stance, you inspire an army of supporters who will say "Holy shit! Everyone needs to buy this game!" And it's not just talk. The thing the best-selling games of 2023 have in common? No DRM.
We know Denuvo's model from leaked Crysis remastered information. Back in the old days it was just a single fee (AAA games 100k, AA games 50k and indie titles 10k) and you got to keep the protection forever. That's why games like Handball still have it.
However nowadays the dev has to pay a 140k fee for the first 12 months of protection, 60k extra fee if the game sells more than 500k units, 10k for each storefront, $0.40 per activation on wegame platform. And lastly once the 12 months is up the dev has to pay 2k per month to keep the Denuvo. That's why most games drop Denuvo after the first year nowadays.
>Denuvo right before launch
Ohhh they REALLY wanted to piss off people didn't they? That's a good way to do it, as if the game wasn't already facing tons of negativity and bashing, and now they added Denuvo right before launch. It's like they want the game to fail despite pushing the release back an ENTIRE YEAR.
Remember that? It got delayed for a YEAR, and it still looks mediocre, and I'm sure it STILL has a battlepass that everyone complained about.
A battle pass in a paid game is stupid, but something interesting I saw is that the battle passes are permanent so they won't be taking advantage of the usual FOMO, "buy this pass now or you'll never get the items again."
It's just weird because it shows they understand one of the problems people have with battle passes, but simultaneously don't comprehend why having a battle pass at all is unwelcome.
does anyone else see a squirrel holding a nut while wearing supermans costume in that image?
I didn't before but I do now.
Reminder that this is what they give Kevin Conroy as his farewell title.
If this game wasn't dead before, it's dead now lol
They thought people would pirate this game that is clearly a dead man walking. Just do a Sega and get xqc to sponsor stream it. That might get a few more sales since it certainly helped Yakuza 8.
You mean Like a Dragon 8?
hmm, i always had a hunch there were under the table deals regarding drm tech. that would seem to point toward it. i swear, aaa games are just a front for such deals. hardware requirements? politics? you name it they take bribes for it.
>Implying anyone ever want to pirate this shit in the first place
They're completely out of touch.
I actually would have pirated it if it was a single player game. It's weird that they gave the actual Arkham sequel to a different dev and then gave an always-online game to the Arkham dev. Well, supposedly this game is actually going to have an offline portion added post-launch, so we'll see if that actually happens. I still might pirate that, since I don't see why I wouldn't be able to once it gets cracked. Unless the game bombs so hard they don't bother adding it.
The game wont survive to have offline patch
Avengers did, and that was undeniably a bomb. You underestimate these devs and their propensity for doubling down.
We hebeen een serieus probleem
>protect game from being stolen
It's an always-online game, you don't even own it. So how can it be stolen then?
Watch this
>steal entire data center
>DD2gays
?
That game is not always online.
Great news, now it will stop all those millions and millions of people who were going to stea-ahhahahahahahahhhahahahahahaahaha
The suits just went "That's the thing that makes people buy it more right? Put it in. What do you mean it's unneeded because the game is online? Every game is online. Put it in or you fired"
I'd like to think its all just bait, but its depressing how many corporate sycophants there are for copyright cartel bullshit, not the least of which is denuvo. As others have said, its massively stupid to do so for a mostly-online game that can just do online checks, but its rather extraordinary that the devs seem to be doing every possible thing to make the game sound shitty. I'm kind of hoping the game is amazing just to see how they could dig themselves out of the pit of bad design, bad plot, bad mechanics, bad monetization etc... and everything else it appears
Then again it may be just another "so long as we get normalgays who want to shoot superman and a bunch of stronk waman harley quinn empowered types, as well as DC hardcore multiverse gays it will do well enough" sort of thing, sadly. Still, denuvo seems a waste of money but so does almost everything else involved with this game's development
I saw someone claiming that there was a leak that said you don't actually kill the real Justice League and it's just clones or something made by Brainiac. I don't know if that's true or not, I hope not because how stupid can you be, you're selling a game with the premise that you get to kill the Justice League only to tell people you don't get to after all? Even worse if it turns out to be a late game plot twist or something, I can't think of any way to write that which doesn't come off as a "frick you" to the player. So I hope it's completely false.
Denuvo doesn't do shit, never had an issue with it.
>b-but performance issues
Stop using ancient CPUs.
This game looks like hot garbage though.
im honestly convinced that denuvo performance hit is just a poorgay hoax
There's literally proof of it. I don't know what could possibly compel you to defend Denuvo besides being paid off by them.
>muh proof
Firsthand experience > "Proof"
I've never had an issue with a Denuvo game, your gay proofs can't change that.
"My anecdotes are stronger than any evidence" is a failure of the entirety of America across all generations. Possibly even the world.
Our education systems need revamping.
>anecdotes
They are facts, because they are things that occurred. No different than your 'proof'. And they hold greater weight because they were experienced firsthand, not through a stranger on the internet, who may or may not have an agenda, relaying someone else's curated findings.
All you can do is cope, as you cannot refute this.
>its not a problem because it only affects older hardware, just buy new stuff fr fr
This is what passes for optimization to zoomers, remember this next time you're complaining about 150GB games that run like shit and look made for PS3.
It's a process running on a CPU. I don't care if the performance hit is 0.000001%, you are not getting it. Your israeliteware will not touch my PC, I will never even pirate your garbage game even if it gets cracked. I will however tell all my friends how shit your game is.
>b-but you didn't play it
Yes. You can't stop me.
I mean, if you're gonna let it mindbreak you that badly then go ahead I guess. I just wanna play videogames.
The less people play it the easier it will be to turn it into a tax write-off
Please just cancel the game.
I know Rocksteady is a shell of their former self and very little, if any, of the people who worked on the Arkham series are still there, but I don't want to see them die like this. Especially since this was Keven Conroy's very last role. Let the man and the company die with some dignity intact.
When has a game ever been completely canceled this close to release?
>When has a game ever been completely canceled this close to release?
Yeah, this was a massive waste of development time, but it didn't even make it to beta. Suicide Squad is coming out this week. It's too late to back out now.
It had a beta (that nobody played even when they were handing keys to everyone) it was canceled just a month before release.
>King Shark
>Superman costume
>both my fetishes
Damnit.
...Your fetishes are sharks and Superman?
Yes, though technically anthropomorphic sharks.
This is moronic. There must be some corporate bullshit behind it. I'd be pissed as an investor
There's a fricking maintenance now for early access players. Because some players were somehow getting max loot and 100% story completion upon logging in. lmao.
I BOUGHT THE GAME!
Empress' homophobia worked to my advantage because she would go out of her way to specifically crack games with gay shit in them to "stick it to them". As a result, I, who have no problem with that stuff, got to play and enjoy those games for free. Now that won't happen anymore because Skidrow decided to chase her away. What a shame. Oh well, at least there's dozens of gay indie games released every year on GOG.
Suicide Squad? More like Suicide Studio. Tick tock, Rocksteady
Why did they name their studio after one of the bad guys from Ninja Turtles?
>always online
Damn they're really taking the Payday 3 route in fricking up their game as much as possible.
>always online
>denuvo
>battle passes
>comic cape trash that should've stayed on Ganker
>ironic and snarky subversive humor
>70 dollar price tag
Wanna add anything else to the pile?
I finally watched some of that special for Christmas, literally the first like 15 minutes of it or so is just the wookies wandering around their house making noises and watching TV. Normally something like that is reserved for a pretentious art film. I have no idea how it made it all the way to completion without anyone saying "this is a bad idea."
Oh, and to actually answer your question, there's also a review embargo for the game. You know, the telltale sign of "We know the game is so shit that we aren't allowing people to review it until it's out because the bad reviews might dissuade people from buying it."
