Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.

I don't imagine it would change that much, possibly easier to maintain / develop on for valve but CSGO is effectively feature complete, you wouldn't add anything just because you updated the engine. May help reducing cosmetic / effect related lag since I know that's been a problem with gold source games as they never intended for all those entities, might finally be able to resolve smoke / moly related bugs too
Gold Source was the 1998 one, Source is the one used by CSGO TF2 etc nowdays
