To further the conversation, however, you said that there is mor decision making in a Star Rail than there is in a real JRPG, and there is not. The problem with Honkai and Genshin is that they're mobile games, thus the simplicity in their systems is what holds them back.
As mobile games, they're probably the best mobile games of all time. But as soon as you stack up Genhin or Honkai's combat to say Bayonetta or Persona 5 respectively, they fall apart.

honkai impact 3rd has been improving, but shoving open world shit into everything like star rail and genshin is not the way. honkai impact 3rd has been improving, but shoving open world shit into everything like star rail and genshin is not the way. I look forward to seeing HI3rd's gameplay polished a bit more with a return to focus on corridors instead of the open world-lite bullshit. I don't think you get what the female gaze is. Not many games capitalize on it, but Star Rail does a good job on getting women to thrist over its male characters. I guess Yakuza does this too with its abnormally large female fanbase, but I can't recall other games that that get girls into a frenzy.

All JRPGs boiled down to numbers are just simulators with little skill input ever needed.

What you described requires zero skill. Traditional JRPGs are just excel spreadsheets of different varieties, and you know what? That's nothing to be ashamed of. People like feeling smart and figuring out the equation. You wouldn't be playing a traditional JRPG if the solution were as easy as dodging the clearly choreographed attack instead of relying on RNG stats. no it won't. you can win-rate most bosses without a second thought if your team is well-built and the rest just require redirecting a couple of attacks. "hard" content is just restarting 20 times until you get favorable attacks and speed because moronic devs can't think of any other criteria than "min turn completion".
