Whatever the case may be, by 2030 ~~*(they*~~ will make SURE you don't own anything, even your previously purchased games on Steam.
Gabe existing or not.
>They made one game in 10 years and its a tech demo to shill their ve headsets. >what is aperture desk jobs, Dota underlords, Artifact, the lab, Dota 2, CS:GO
Head on over to Activision if you wanna play the same thing every year instead
Both the Index and Deck are far, FAR from being gimmicks. The Index is very expensive and impossible to get outside the US but AFAIK its still the best VR setup out there. The Deck is a PC/Switch hybrid or a very good Razer Blade and its not that expensive for what it is, the freedom with software you have and the high convenience provided by Steam integration.
If that basedboy Tyler McVicker is to be believed, they are working on a standalone VR headset codenamed Deckard. If they manage to do it it would be a giant leap in VR tech.
They are focused on hardware pet projects over sheer autism. Steam is a money printer, they do not need to make new software and new games are innovative in the sense they are tech demos turned into complete games. The 2 games they have in development are very convoluted in a game design sense and their flat work structure as resulted in the canning of many games like L4D3 like 3 or 4 different times.
Plus the fact that one of Gabe's sons founded his work game studio and is completely independent of VALVe gives me good hopes that they wont go public and a similarly autistic individual like Gabe will take reigns when he dies as I doubt Gabe will ever retire.
>Down the shitter
What's so bad about steam? Isnt it just a storefront? >Search for game >Buy it >Has refunds and pre loads
What's so complicated or bad about it?
Btw I dont use steam or epic or anything, i pirate everything
It already is in the shitter.
what is there to even go down shitter? steam is a money printer that runs itself and all their games are abandoned
Steam is such a money printer that some ideologue could easily ban 1/3 of the games and not have any severe financial impact. That's the main fear.
Who knows. Maybe some hungry israelite will come in and start charging subscriptions to use download from the workshop.
Private owned Company where everyone in higher power is in agreement for it to stay that way
good luck
What if they go public?
They won't moron
And how do you know that?
Because it benefits them whether you like it or not
the company will die before going public

If you do, I can buy a few used games off you using Steam, right?
It's whatever, I see gaming as a zombie corpse anyway. I can live without him or steam when it really comes down to it.
what the frick does a valve employee do day to day
making team fortress 3
dont give me hope
What's with all the threads about Gay Ben dying lately? Pretty morbid shilling attempt, Timmy.
.....where do you think Valve are right now?
TF2 is fricked. They literally only make gimmick hardware now. They made one game in 10 years and its a tech demo to shill their ve headsets.

When he leaves the new guy will release a slew of Half Life, Portal, and L4D garbage to capitalise on the name.
It will probably go public and become like every other public company.

Valve is just a hardware company at this point. They repurpose tablets like some pajeet company now.
Gabe as a person and Valve the entity aren't the same thing. Love me some Gaben, no clue what a Valve even is anymore.
Gabe died today
Implying Gabe does literally anything at Valve right now. The corporation wouldn't even notice if he just disappeared one day.
