I don't think so. I think it was really one of the last eras where young people genuinely enjoyed games. Now those young people grew up and are either too cool for games or are stuck on games as a service hell/mobile phone garbage.

Old 3DS and New 3DS are legitimately the same device with one or two minor updates.
Phat and DS Lite are nothing like DSi/XL, which added better brightness support, SD card support, switching games without turning off the system and restarting it, cameras, and the got damn DSiWare system. 3DS to New 3DS is just a shitty nub stick that barely works and camera tracking that actually makes the 3D work smoother.

The New 3DS has a faster quad core and double the ram/vram than the 3DS.
It also has extra shoulder buttons.
It also has exclusive games.
It also has faceplates.
It also an upgraded Wi-Fi network chip.

It also has the chance of having IPS screens which you will not find on the regular 3DS.

I appretiate how much 3DS feels like a terminal or literal console that accesses games. The form factor of a mini laptop computer. It feels good, the games are all robust and well rounded polished experiences.
The games too, there's a little of everything, it has to be one of the best consoles of all time. With Starfox 64, Dragon Quest 8, Animal Crossing New Leaf, several Pokemon games, several Shin Megami Tensei games, several Zelda games,
Both 3DS and DS are soulless and you're all a bunch of zoomers if you think otherwise, GBA SP is the only decent handheld Nintendo ever made before the Switch Lite, the GBA Micro was uncomfortable, and all the older ones had no backlight, while the DS/3DS had the stupid dual screen and stylus gimmicks.

My biggest problem with this console was in the US finding a size other than XL became a nightmare a few years in, and outside of limited releases there were no regular size n3DS units.

I have a non-xl that I love, but it's so beyond fricked right now that I system transferred to an xl while I get it fixed
After about 4000 hours of gameplay and 500k steps in pocket I have:
>completely fricked circle pad, have literally worn off chunks of the edges
>right speaker rattles if volume is too high
>A button occasionally doesn't register click
>left shoulder is very loose
>battery only last 3-5 hours even with battery saver
I wish I could find a repair shop because I'm super paranoid about accidentally destroying it while doing repairs
