With how hard people shit on Shrine of Amana, you'd think it was the most bullshit area in the game, but I thought it doesn't even come close to the Iron Keep or the Black Gulch.

except most people played the vanilla version, and iron keep or black gulch weren't as bad as Sotfs versions
believe me when I tell you , pre nerf shrine of amana was literal cancer , does not compare at all to iron keep or black gulch
Black Gulch is the worst area in any souls game, I'll admit it's worse than Shrine of Amana, but see
pre-nerf Shrine was an actual fricking cesspit of misery. i remember dying there more than anywhere else in the entire fricking series.
Iron Keep though? Maybe i'm moronic but I never struggled there besides Smelter Demon
>Iron Keep though? Maybe i'm moronic but I never struggled there besides Smelter Demon
Op is probably talking about the softs version of iron keep which is a gang ups fest
>Black Gulch is the worst area in any souls game
IMO, the worst area in any Souls game is New Londo Ruins. I despise DS3, I hate all those swamps, but my most hated area comes from DS1.
I like Black Gulch, tho.
>except most people played the vanilla version
highly doubtful, thanks anyways beta tester
>believe me when I tell you , pre nerf shrine of amana was literal cancer
By that time you can infuse shields to over 80% magic resist. And even if you are a hotshot who needs no shield, you can use the environmental rubble as cover. And even if there is no cover, you can run left or right to dodge the projectile. And if that is too tricky you can use the dodge button to dodge with iframes. Remember THAT?
it's been a while since I played vanilla but I think enemy placement made it so you can't have cover or get overwhelmed easily with how many projectiles are homing on you
No, it didn't. It was fine. All you had to do was either pull the melee guys with a bow or rush the ranged guys and kill them real fast. It will never cease to disgust me that people actually had a problem with that segment when all it asked of you was to use the most basic fricking skills that were expected out of you as a conscious human.
>pre nerf shrine of amana was literal cancer
No, it wasn't. It was a cakewalk just like the rest of the game. Stop being such an insufferable b***h.
anon you clearly did not play the original version on release, shrine of amana was the single area I had to use bow to clear it
I did play it. You're just a drama queen. The fact that you could pull out a bow at any time means it wasn't hard. And you didn't even need to use the bow if you just sprinted to the casters and killed them before the priests caught up to you.
Whoa....if I cheese the enemy aggro....then game good?
I really don't get the "area bad" takes. DS2 has so many build options. Even at SL1 you can use a light crossbow to aggro enemies from afar and it's literally the worst ranged weapon in the game with good ranged weapons and spells.
>I really don't get the "area bad" takes. All you have to do is cheese the game and the areas arent bad!
Amazing
i beat it in like 45 minutes my first time playing it on ps3. it wasn't bad unless you only had a melee weapon and no armor.
I laughed hysterically when I first arrived at Black Gulch. That place is a sick joke. At least it's not very big and you can run past everything
I love DS2 though
If ypu buy a bo2, and take your time to snipe b***hes from far away, it ain't that bad. Blqck gulch is dogshit no matter what you do, same woth that shitty poison DLC
Black Gulch is mercifully short.
Kinda funny how sotfs made every area worse
can't think of a single area that Sotfs made better in one way or another
>hey you know how everyone hated this game for its unfair constant usage of ganking and ambushing?
>Lets just make that 10x worse in SOTFS
This is what I like to imagine them thinking making this game.
>everyone hated
>unfair
Stop trying to revise history. Everyone who enjoyed 1 also enjoyed 2. It's only secondaries like you who actually believe in made up shit like "artificial difficulty" that whine about ambushes. Nothing that happens in DaS2 is unfair because it's not hard enough to be unfair.
Kind of, it was a slow turn over time. Everyone enjoyed 2 on release because everyone was excited to have another souls game again. Then slowly more and more people noticed the cracks in game design and public perception began to turn.
I still remember the lighting the windmill on fire threads on Ganker and Fromdrones desperate attempts to justify it.
Good times.
There were just as many flaws with the game design in 2 as there were in 1. All of From's games are flawed and imperfect. Your "people noticing cracks in the game design" is actually just the influx of bad players who suck at video games getting filtered and then whining on Ganker about it. They did the same when Sekiro came out and then they did the same again when Elden Ring came out. 99% of the psoters on this board are braindead secondaries who can't actually play basic video games.
he's comparing vanilla to Sotfs
Watching Ganker contrarianism is fascinating. At first we hated the game for overt tracking, shitboxes and severe graphical downgrades. Then we praised it for being "unique" and "adventurous" and eventually it's considered the best in the series. Now we are saying that the N64 original vanilla version was the best after all.
It was always hated because of the trooned out fanbase that specifically likes ds2.
People b***hing at shrine of amana, even pre patch are the biggest morons. There are so many ways to deal with it that and the fact people still today parrot this makes me seethe
>There are so many ways to deal with i
if you're talking about using a bow , that's how I ended up beating that area, i didn't know anything about agl at the time and I assumed this is a ranged only area
just kill the mages lmao shrine of amana was only hard on release because morons would refuse to use a bow or do anything besides charging at the enemies
>scholar
Wrong version anon.
kys
My first DS2 build was a int build. And the it felt kinda bad near the end near the fog wall where there where a ton of enemies with huge aggro range. But with other builds I didn't have much of an issue aince I had already played through it. Vanilla btw.
I beat the game without bonfires and dying
yes those areas kind of sucked in some ways but they are still very doable
>Shrine of Amana
Just walk sideways and be careful when pulling aggro LMAO.
>Iron Keep
Just don't aggro half the area at once LMAO.
>Black Gulch
Just don't walk in front of the traps LMAO.
DS2 proved that 90% of the Fromdrones play those games purely for muh hardcore cred and can't hold their own without a guide.
Nice bait. I always find it curious that any DS2 defender has to be disingenuous in their arguments to justify this garbage.
>it's bait
>but it's also a disingenuous argument
Lurk until you figure out what "bait" means.
>you cant bait people with disingenuous arguments
What a surprise a DS2 defender has lukewarm IQ
he's right. you're just a loser who blames the game instead of working on his own skillset. not a true from fan. not a true gamer. total poser.
None of those areas are bullshit. Honestly anybody who whines about any of the areas in any Souls game is just a shitter who doesn't understand what makes video games fun. Areas are supposed to be a trial. If it's not challenging, it's just a hallway and the game isn't worth your time.
>more disingenuous arguments
lmao, keep trying.
Reminder that only enemies Scholar added to the Iron Keep are the 1-off red phantoms at the very begining that are ment to simulate the iconic Iron Bridge PvP

frigid outskirts is THE worst area in all of vidya and you cannot argue against this
Never played beyond the first few maps of sotfs but I remember finding iron keep & the hallway to not garl vinland extremely obnoxious, not hard just deliberately designed to waste time.
>Be me
>Have a bow
>moonwalk through everything with no issues
lol lmao
I currently play through DS2
Iron Keep didn't even strike me as that bad except the runback for Smelter Demon
considering Amana is pretty much the same but underwater and with nigh invisible deathholes, yes its worse.
>except the runback for Smelter Demon
Thats the part people complain about because they added even more Alonne knights to the boss run unnecessarily
