Would you ever wish that the Nintendo 64 had a Classic Shantae game?
And if there's any like it with a similar creative heart and soul to Shantae GBC and Advance.

Shantae convinced me that I was abducted into an alternate universe because I've never heard of it before 2018
Weird that you'd never heard of it, but entirely reasonable you'd never played on because it was all on the GBA/DS.
There's never been a Shantae game on GBA.
One was going to be a thing on the GBA, but it never happened and now, it's happening
>One was going to be
But there wasn't.
See, there you go, even I don't even know what these games were released on.
The GBC game was GBA enhanced.
Yeah me too. I have no clue why people suddenly started talking about these games so much. Maybe it was marketing back when they were starting the series back up but some people really want to die on the hill that they have one really deep memories with it
No way this game existed
I distinctly remember finding her via a booru or paheal some time in the early '10s and thinking
>damn I wish there was more porn
prophetically
I don't think that's the same deep memory you implied though
coomers discovered Shantae and now they are posing as old fans of the series
That is the fanbase.
Since when did this franchise exist? I heard of a new game but turns out it's a retro series I never heard of to begin with. In fact I've been hearing about its recent for the past few years as if it hasn't actually come out yet. Was it in development hell or something?
the original was one of the last GBC games ever released, coming out during the advance's lifetime, 2002, the second one for the advance got yeeted but is getting necromanced soon, third one was a dsiware title, >dsiware
So up until pirates curse it was quite a mess
I've always heard people mention "Shantae", but I never bothered checking out to see what the frick the game was. When I see the name "Shantae" I just picture some fat loud obnoxious black woman and it turns me off. Despite that, I did eventually play the first game and beat it, and I must say that it's very overrated. The later games are a lot better, but even then I still think they're a little overrated. Don't go in with high expectations.
This is coming from someone who usually enjoys "coomer bait".
pic semi-related
I really hate how they keep ruining the original design of the character in her devolution into a moeblob. Her first design was a perfect middle point between titillating and 90s mascot.
I agree with you there, they should have been more consistent with the style. Though the first game is very overrated these days, I will admit Shantae's design was really damn good, I would even say it was perfect, including her sprite and sprite animations. The change in style is indeed a disappointment, and like I said, i'm someone who usually enjoys fanservice coomer shit.
In all honesty, the GBC can't do the Classic Shantae art style justice, and here's why!
The character sprites especially look kinda off-model when compared to the GBA counterparts, which more closely resembled the promo art designs. Kinda wish Matt Bozon had waited for the GBA instead of starting on the GBC
Giving Sky pants was a big mistake.
I was convinced it was a Nintendo Power hoax, since they kept running advertisements for a game that was never seen on store shelves.
Shantae N64 would look bad. And the games aren't great anyway.
The fact that it came back at all was only because the original game got memed into a heckin HIDDEN GEM by being unattainably expensive.
Would it? I'd picture something like Goemon's Great Adventure. Then again, maybe they had no experience making 3d graphics.
Like Shantae GBC, I think it probably would have had an artstyle reminiscent of low budget late 90s digipaint cartoons like Sabrina: The Animated Series and Oggy and the wienerroaches
>Sabrina: The Animated Series
It's funny because WayForward actually did a game for GBC of the cartoon.
>Would you ever wish
this board needs to learn english
I can see Shantae in 3d, even with enemies, that are also path-blocking obstacles like big scorpio one. It is not that hard to make 3d exploration game, Castlevania CoD, Sonic Adventure and some other games already did this. And Shantae have natural structure for something like SA structure, with dungeons being "levels" and overworld being Adventure Field, but with enemies.
Never heard of this game in my life either, until a few years back. Had to look it up to see what everyone was going on about, come to see game looks like some whack troony trash. Definitely a psyop.
