It would need to stay 2D, it would need to retain a decent singleplayer campaign, and it would need to keep its characters and gameplay fun and varied and avoid butchering its movesets into nonfunctional gore.
These are all things that Acksys simply cannot provide anymore, and that even BB's director himself was working against to some extent. A proper continuation isn't something you can expect in good faith, at least not right now.

I want a 3 party RPG with a great story be made for blazblue, I think that would sell better, where the mob battles on average take between 1 and 3 minutes and the boss battles take 10 minutes on average and the average playtime is 60 hours to complete the game.
It would require a great story but with the latest blazblue game made it would easy to work on based on the graphics and character design. You could have it centered around Ragnar.
I like the idea of playing an rpg with Ragnar/Mai/Nine all in the same party since I like spears and magic. But if you're going for popularity, from looking on sites like danbooru, Noel/Makoto/Ragna have the most fan art drawn from them, follower by Nu 13 in 4th place then Rachel in 5th place. If making an RPG with a permanent party i would make the default fighting party center on those first 3 while making the entire party consist of those 5 characters in order to appeal to super majority fan base of Blazblue.
You could have Makoto with Noel and Ragna be the default party then before every battle you could switch out or during battle switch in Rachel or nu13 as one of your 3 party members.
What would make it nice is if during the travels the entire party follows beside you, if near a tight space they get behind you, when fighting the 2 non used charcters cheer you on and give you buffs when they cheer for you. Or maybe you meet other blazblue characters that you don't play as but simply cheer you on, I like the idea of nu13 and Rachel cheering doing some weird cheering gestures like in real life.

Something similar to like the original final fantasy 7 in regards to environment building and gameplay mechanics since that is one of the most successful rpg games ever made, the original final fantasy 7 has on average a 90/100 score according to Wikipedia.
I would make sure to make a beautiful walking environment during travels, but it would have to have a great story, like with the average constant playthrough being atleast 60 hours by that I mean total time played.

I still think the game is fun, you just can't approach it like BB or any of the other games involved, because it really is more of a bullshit tag fighter with a bit of BB and P4U DNA to it. Call me a casual but cross tag was some of the most fun I've had in fighting games period. Was easy to pick up a character in an afternoon and focus more on neutral (the actual fun part of fighting games) rather than grinding combos

Since blazblue if really fast in regards to gameplay, you make make the traveling and walking around portions similar to final fantasy. You know what I mean like the models in the latest blazblue game walking as a group in a party through environments, but you could make the fighting gameplay mechanics be similar to star ocean the second story since that has incredibly fast gameplay battles, it would work perfectly for a pseudo 2D fighting game like blazblue.
You could make the environment and traveling similar to final fantasy 7 but at the same time make the fighting ingame similar to star ocean the second story that way you have that cool partially top down environment and traveling aspect of the final fantasy games which makes you look at your cool characters walking around but the fighting is fast and cool.
If I could make a game like that, everytime the larty stops for a long time in a dungeon they would go into a passive mode where they are doing their own thing unique to them. For example let's say your in city and you stop for like 5 minutes next thing you know Mai in your party decides to out her back against a wall and polished her spear with a rag, or of nine is in your party she decides to practice her sorcery pointed at the sky or decides to taking out some food with her magic and eats it, the once you finally move the controller and characters they put their things up and get back to moving again, it would be important to animate them beginning and ending this passive state of afk so that it isn't instant, and for like different environments you could slightly modify it, if there is no wall to lean on them Mai would just sit criss cross on the forest floor or on a fallen tree and polish her spear.
The whole walking around as a party an environem t like final fantasy 7 is cool but with battle mechanics like star ocean 2nd story it would allow the chracters to fight just like in their fighting games.

Star ocean 2nd story fighting mechanics are partially 2d like the latest blazblue game so it could work perfectly. Both the games it was designed on sold very well. Star ocean 2nd story has 4 remakes, I believe this has to do with the battle mechanics alot itself.
It would be cool if when traveling on the map the group would drive in a open top car like how final fantasy 7 did, that way you could see your entire party in the car as they drive along the map.
The combat system in star ocean 2nd story is 2d like blaz blue except it has a z axis which allows you to move around an area so it would be perfect. I like the idea of an open top car with your 5 party members in it traveling it would be a cool gameplay mechanics in order to traverse the game world.
Or since an open top car has 4 seats, the 5th character could be sitting on the trunk of the car looking cool with the wind blowing their hair while traveling, or you could make the backseat have 3 seats to fit everyone.

That's where we're at. Strive is like 4 years in? Arcsys made some other licensed games like Dragonball Fighterz to big success and Granblue Fantasy Versus to good results.
It abandoned sprites entirely and basically became a prostitute for whichever big-money company wants a "fighting game but anime".
It also used that money to pump up the marketing budget for GG several sizes, fluke into a deal that got them rollback netcode implemented early, and finally get a(n american) audience after two decades of failure with that series.

It looked pretty and was said to be GG but easier by arcsys so normalgays talked about it which lead to more normalgays talking about and buying it. Its reveal was put up as the main attraction for EVO compared to Xrd where its first trailer basically dropped out of the air.

Like other Anons said, there's really very little point. The story was kino and ended and all was right in the world. Mori's chuuni spirit is what brought the soul to the series and I doubt ArcSys could even remotely replicate that without him. I won't pretend I wasn't interested in what he was planning with the D series of games and that I'm not a little upset Dark War flopped so hard that it all just got canned, but shit happens. Blazblue's one of my favorite stories ever but sometimes you just need to let sleeping dogs lie. I'm excited for his new Legally Distinct Blazblue and I'm sure it'll scratch the itch just a good as the original did. If ArcSys ever did decide to revive the series, I don't think I'd pay it any mind unless they brought Mori back on board.

This is how you know someone doesn't know what they're talking about since the best player in NA is a dude that's known for how good his defense is and his ability to wall his opponent out.
Top 1% is irrelevant. They don't mean anything when the majority will not experience that kind of supposedly defensive gameplay.
It's crazy how you think that's any kind of argument. A fighting game is defined by the core mechanics and Blazblue is extremely rushdown and stupidly offense-heavy.
The vast majority of players also don't run offense past layer 1 and hardly make use of those strong offensive tools you're talking about. The defensive tools in Blazblue are extremely strong, making use of just throw OS is enough to beat the majority of netplayer's "offense" let alone fuzzy jumping out at every opportunity. What you're describing is not the general level of play nor the top level of play so I'm not sure where you're coming from.

You're disturbingly blind if you're denying the core gameplan of any blazblue round is to overwhelm the opponent with airtight strings, unreactable mixups, and generally degenerate nonsense that's not present in even other anime games.

Very rarely are these air tight strings ever threatening, with only a few top tiers having air tight strings that lead to proper mix ups.

The average overhead in this game is somewhere around 23 frames which is hardly unreactable and once again it's only a select few characters that get any meaningful reward off this. Moves like Jin 6A, Hakumen 6B and Terumi 214C are all extremely fast and lead to very little reward without meter or a counter hit for that reason.

Depends on the weak points. If you have a red one it becomes a low, yellow it becomes a high, both and it becomes unblockable but you can always jump it unless you block a 5C or he does some super scuffed purple throw route you'll never actually see.
