Did a pretty basic web search but found a similar product on amazon: https://a.co/d/dcqzD0y that had a review by Wesley,
Looks like it backs up savegames somehow?

It's an 8MB memory stick for GBA silly. It says it right there in the pic.
But seriously, absolutely amazing how much stupid there is ITT. The only one who has a clue is

      >somehow
It uses multiboot to allow the system to download and run a save manager

As this anon says it just uses the multiboot functionality to boot into a save manager.

Wow, a use of "game pak" in the wild.

It's roms. They're selling roms but they can't say they're selling roms.

I always wonder who actually pays for pirated content (Unless these are flashcarts in which case its understandable)

You don't pay for piracy, you pay for someone else to do the piracy for you. In my case, I enjoy the tinkering and the downloading.

Either dumping saves or loading ROMs, possibly both.

You'd fit probably two GBA roms on that.

The serial port is too slow to load ROMs from anyway. It's not even mapped correctly for it.

It might be slow, but you absolutely can load enough data into RAM through the link port to play some things.
The single-cartridge multiplayer mode of Mario Kart Super Circuit wouldn't be possible if you couldn't.

Some things but not retail games which released on cartridge.

Maybe you could play Crash Blast with this.

I don't think that's what's happening here. Those sellers are way more brazen.

Then it'd be advertised as "[the entire population of China squared] in 1"

    Pretty neat actually.

That's none of your fricking business. Back off.

I have a couple of these. They just backup and restore save files through the link port.

    $50?
is there some kind of game that needed to use it to beat it or something?

No just buy a DS lite and r4 card and you get to actually play the fricking games too

$50 is a scam. I’ve only paid a couple bucks for the ones I’ve got. And as the other anon said there’s not really any reason to get these over more modern options (such as an R4 or a GBxCart). I’ve only picked them up for the novelty.
