Bozja remains the absolute worst and worst written content in the entire game. And for a game that prizes itself on the story and characters, it's a truly terrible situation.
Honestly, seeing how terrible Bozja was really soured me on Matsuno as a whole. I was okay with him messing up Ivalice because he wanted to make it saccharine and sweet, that's weird but fine, it's his baby. But Bozja was top to bottom badly written.

I have been looking for a UI mod that does what I described, it's in New World and it's the one feature I really liked from that game, When out of combat, just in the world your UI hides automatically and comes back when in combat and you have the option for what stays and goes.

Yeah that's how 1.0 UI worked. When you were running around the action bar collapses and you're left with just resource bars and chat box. You can see it in this old vid after battle concludes.

It's not just the job, but the people that play it. Sam players are likely to wipe the raid because they messed up their rotation or if they don't get dance partner etc.
Try leveling a DNC with a friend who you partner, they freak the frick out every time. I even had one demand I switch partners to him or I'm griefing because partnering the SAM is just what I'm supposed to do. Then after a failed vote kick, him standing around pouting, he says he didn't want a male to dance with him anyway then left. Gay ass job played by the biggest homosexuals and I hope for once they aren't literally the best 2 minute meta job but I really doubt it, it's going to be samurai and the buff slaves until whenever the frick they put some thought into the jobs again(likely never)

nah people hate having a BLM in their group because they always go on about "BLM strats" where everyone has to move around them. People would much rather have a DNC to fluff their main dps than a MCH and SAM is just full of freestyle shitters who cry about not getting every piece of loot despite them doing the most damage (they're not)

What does BLM do that requires people playing around it? Isn't BLM super mobile with it's player teleport skill?
they use their mobility for mechanics that require mobility and then avoid using it for anything else. Compared to that SMN can move freely all the time as long as you play around the mechanics of the fight
BLM does have movement options, but it needs to stand still and cast more than any other job in the game. There's only so many charges of instant cast abilities so they need to plan their usages well, and even then they can't always be moving. Also the teleport skill has 10 seconds on its cooldown and it of course interrupts whatever they're casting

no because samurai does by far the most damage into raid buffs giving you a better parse, another raid buff just subtracts from your parse if they can't contribute equal damage as a samurai(nothing even comes remotely close). Damage is self-explanatory, current samurai does by far the most DPS leading to faster clears. The job is just moronic but the devs don't want to go back to a utility meta so here we are.

people are down on the number of buttons viper has before role actions (14) but I went through the media tour tooltips and if you "viperize" the other melee by making mindless 123 combo strings that you have no reason to ever do out of order (aka all the melee besides monk) one button, combine stuff that has no reason to not be the same button (like gurren/senei on samurai) and remove personal mitigation buttons and buffs (because viper doesn't have those) you end up with the other melee only having a few more buttons then viper does, and that tends to be because of shit like ninja having the gapcloser raiju in the hyper niche situation you need it
I could understand the tactile argument of hitting more buttons to do the same things can 'feel' more involved, but everything viper does is either fast as shit, has a double weave attached to it, or both so I feel like its gonna be ok on that front.

It's barely even a twist, since the reveal is spoiled at about the midpoint of that quest series when you realise Giott has a suspiciously specific amount of knowledge about what goes on in the women-only cave prison place.
Not much different, but I think a full glove and closed boots would work better for an English Lady headed to the new world. Alternatively, the High House Cloche, and High House Halfboots would work well. Maybe even the Summer Flame's Hat.

Matsuno wrote the Ivalice and Bozja scenarios only in ffxiv. He also wrote ffxii and vagrant story, so he has a very particular style.
Alright, I can't blame a single scapegoat for how the writing makes me feel. I gave the game a break for a year after playing since ARR and it's dawned on me how just about every damn cutscene is the most uninspired laborious tripe, boring characters serving only to prod the player towards an endless string of plot macguffins and nobody changing each other's mind or growing or showcasing personal contradictions in any meaningful way. It's tough shit and I swear HW and ShB (the MSQ AND the side stuff) wasn't like this. Even StB couldn't have been this bad... Or was it always me? Am I the goyslop?
A marked improvement. However, the metal accessories on the Expeditioner's Boots don't match the rest of the outfit. The gloves also feel a little out of place.

I was in Pyros the other night, waiting for people to join at a NM in the fire caverns, and the frickers kept pulling Void dragons in, three at once from different directions and running straight into the group waiting.
Not that guy, but most people will stand around and wait for people to spawn the NMs by killing mobs instead of either joining or doing it themselves. Better yet, they'll stand around and do nothing and then early pull the NMs before the stated pull time like a bunch of animals. They're the cancer of Eureka

Flash was just undercooked, they could have done a magic combo or something special if they wanted to. The main issue was the blind, since this game has surgically removed the ability to debuff enemies beyond basic shit like reprisal/feint/addle. Maybe Arm's Length will proc slow still if it's a trash mob.
The problem was you had no real aoe combo so you just sat there spamming flash forever and it was quite boring. Something they could have worked on, but they decided to throw it out entirely, many such cases.

It's because it's a self-defeating cycle. They've been playing on foreign DCs for years, and now that they have one there are no people on it, and they don't want to play on a DC with no people, but it has no people because they will not play on it, etc.

What really grinds my gears is when people insist that there is no skill expression in positioning yourself to hit all the enemies and that it feels bad, like.... Do they literally want the game to play itself? Every time you remove some little thing you have to do, it just gets more and more dumbed down until you have what we have today
People still complain about the scant few positionals left, I was genuinely worried we'd reach a point where all skills had 100% true north but I guess even Yoshi admits it's pretty bad right now.
Honestly they should delete positionals from all melee and just give MNK all of those it used to have back, or make a new job that has positionals on all its GCDs. But then again people would complain that it’s unfair that they don’t get to play that one single job because it’s too hard for them, disregarding the fact that the lost DPS from missed positionals wouldn’t matter in content that the people who can’t hit them partake exclusively in.
BLM before 60 is rough. It does get better once you've atleast gotten Fire IV and Ice IV, but the absolute best is Despair. Keep plugging away at it and you'll end up with one of the most satisfying jobs FFXIV has to offer imo.

The problem with dungeons in XIV is that fighting mobs sucks shit, the combat in this game is only entertaining when complex mechanics are involved. Adding alternate paths isn't going to change that.

If DT is actually good (and looking at the current state of Square Enix that's a big "if") that problem will fix itself. I think most people still feel kind of burned by EW because in the end it was a massive disappointment to a huge fraction of the playerbase.
I'm in a similar situation but I think there's a couple reasons.
First there's actually stuff to play (at least for me). I remember when EW came out there was literally nothing I wanted to play for at least a good 2 months leading up.
Secondly there's too little we know about DT. Its brand new expansion and story we can only speculate. With EW it was the conclusion of the main story and there was tons of predictions and stuff to get excited about. This is much more unkown.
One thing I'm sure though, once it comes out I'm going to dial in and not want to touch any other game.
I feel like people whoa re trashing on DT right now for having "no hype" (that aren't just shitposting) aren't realizing that we're starting an entirely new arc here. It's kind of natural that they don't have big beats to hype us up with like in the past because this expansion is meant to be laying groundwork for the future not paying off previsously established shit like ShB and EW did.

I have been looking for a UI mod that does what I described, it's in New World and it's the one feature I really liked from that game, When out of combat, just in the world your UI hides automatically and comes back when in combat and you have the option for what stays and goes.

It's not just the job, but the people that play it. Sam players are likely to wipe the raid because they messed up their rotation or if they don't get dance partner etc.

You can trust him on BLM because people do actually have to play around them, but not SAM because he probably has had a few bad experiences with them and puts that on all SAM players now. BLM is genuinely the problem child job

they use their mobility for mechanics that require mobility and then avoid using it for anything else. Compared to that SMN can move freely all the time as long as you play around the mechanics of the fight
BLM does have movement options, but it needs to stand still and cast more than any other job in the game. There's only so many charges of instant cast abilities so they need to plan their usages well, and even then they can't always be moving. Also the teleport skill has 10 seconds on its cooldown and it of course interrupts whatever they're casting

no because samurai does by far the most damage into raid buffs giving you a better parse, another raid buff just subtracts from your parse if they can't contribute equal damage as a samurai(nothing even comes remotely close). Damage is self-explanatory, current samurai does by far the most DPS leading to faster clears. The job is just moronic but the devs don't want to go back to a utility meta so here we are.

people are down on the number of buttons viper has before role actions (14) but I went through the media tour tooltips and if you "viperize" the other melee by making mindless 123 combo strings that you have no reason to ever do out of order (aka all the melee besides monk) one button, combine stuff that has no reason to not be the same button (like gurren/senei on samurai) and remove personal mitigation buttons and buffs (because viper doesn't have those) you end up with the other melee only having a few more buttons then viper does, and that tends to be because of shit like ninja having the gapcloser raiju in the hyper niche situation you need it
I could understand the tactile argument of hitting more buttons to do the same things can 'feel' more involved, but everything viper does is either fast as shit, has a double weave attached to it, or both so I feel like its gonna be ok on that front.

Alright, I can't blame a single scapegoat for how the writing makes me feel. I gave the game a break for a year after playing since ARR and it's dawned on me how just about every damn cutscene is the most uninspired laborious tripe, boring characters serving only to prod the player towards an endless string of plot macguffins and nobody changing each other's mind or growing or showcasing personal contradictions in any meaningful way. I don't blame them because the game everywhere else is so tame and benign that you can gormlessly run through pretty much anything with little consequence. Unless you played FFXI or 1.0 the game never really informs you of what sight or sound aggros. To this day people will be shocked you can toggle walk and wander through a pack of undead mobs unmolested, not like it matters though because they're not very threatening anyway.
I was in Pyros the other night, waiting for people to join at a NM in the fire caverns, and the frickers kept pulling Void dragons in, three at once from different directions and running straight into the group waiting.
Not that guy, but most people will stand around and wait for people to spawn the NMs by killing mobs instead of either joining or doing it themselves. Better yet, they'll stand around and do nothing and then early pull the NMs before the stated pull time like a bunch of animals. They're the cancer of Eureka

The change to a circle is fine, but they reduced its range as well.
Flash was just undercooked, they could have done a magic combo or something special if they wanted to. The main issue was the blind, since this game has surgically removed the ability to debuff enemies beyond basic shit like reprisal/feint/addle. Maybe Arm's Length will proc slow still if it's a trash mob.
Blind and slow are still good in dungeons and especially deep dungeons. Flash would be kino for deep dungeons if it was still around.
Paladins used to be able to blind monsters? That's sick as hell, it's like an offensive mitigation tool. Why was it removed?

The problem was you had no real aoe combo so you just sat there spamming flash forever and it was quite boring. Something they could have worked on, but they decided to throw it out entirely, many such cases.

It baffles me completely that Tenka Goken was turned into a circle when the whole fricking point of the skill is it produces five lines as a cone to represent the Tenka Goken, a series of five swords
I just mean because it's cooler and despite what some people say, having the positioning of your character actually matter is a good thing

What really grinds my gears is when people insist that there is no skill expression in positioning yourself to hit all the enemies and that it feels bad, like.... Do they literally want the game to play itself? Every time you remove some little thing you have to do, it just gets more and more dumbed down until you have what we have today

People still complain about the scant few positionals left, I was genuinely worried we'd reach a point where all skills had 100% true north but I guess even Yoshi admits it's pretty bad right now.
Honestly they should delete positionals from all melee and just give MNK all of those it used to have back, or make a new job that has positionals on all its GCDs. But then again people would complain that it’s unfair that they don’t get to play that one single job because it’s too hard for them, disregarding the fact that the lost DPS from missed positionals wouldn’t matter in content that the people who can’t hit them partake exclusively in.

Eventually you'll get traits that let you more easily swap between fire and ice without using transpose, it's pretty awkward at low levels.
At a certain point you get to stop using Transpose and you switch between fire/ice by actually using the fire/ice spells.

BLM before 60 is rough. It does get better once you've atleast gotten Fire IV and Ice IV, but the absolute best is Despair. Keep plugging away at it and you'll end up with one of the most satisfying jobs FFXIV has to offer imo.

The problem with dungeons in XIV is that fighting mobs sucks shit, the combat in this game is only entertaining when complex mechanics are involved. Adding alternate paths isn't going to change that.

Honestly everyone on my world seems to be very ho-hum about it, there's not a lot of excitement.
If DT is actually good (and looking at the current state of Square Enix that's a big "if") that problem will fix itself. I think most people still feel kind of burned by EW because in the end it was a massive disappointment to a huge fraction of the playerbase.

I'm in a similar situation but I think there's a couple reasons.
First there's actually stuff to play (at least for me). I remember when EW came out there was literally nothing I wanted to play for at least a good 2 months leading up.
Secondly there's too little we know about DT. Its brand new expansion and story we can only speculate. With EW it was the conclusion of the main story and there was tons of predictions and stuff to get excited about. This is much more unkown.
One thing I'm sure though, once it comes out I'm going to dial in and not want to touch any other game.
I feel like people whoa re trashing on DT right now for having "no hype" (that aren't just shitposting) aren't realizing that we're starting an entirely new arc here. It's kind of natural that they don't have big beats to hype us up with like in the past because this expansion is meant to be laying groundwork for the future not paying off previsously established shit like ShB and EW did.
