He is pretty cool all things considered. I did find it funny that compared to the other fights we had as Ichiban the mooks were the only real part of the fight and his boss fight was very clearly in Ichiban's head since he's still standing on the porch with his coat as soon as you finish it.
I really dig it because the demo-limited part of it is so easy to get around. It reminds me of Nagasugai a bit in how simple it is yet how it all interconnects at the same time.
How do we feel about western celebs getting roles in the games?
Danny Trejo's a cool dude, I just hope it's strictly for western-based games and not in Japan unless they specifically have some glowies arrive or something.
It might be another character, but considering a lot of the dialogue deals with him specifically from Ichiban and Kiryu I don't feel too confident about them doing a swap unless they specifically recorded a bunch of lines just to trick us.
to be fair, for all we know the fight with him in that scene might be the “demo exclusive” content with the actual fight happening later
It might be another character, but considering a lot of the dialogue deals with him specifically from Ichiban and Kiryu I don't feel too confident about them doing a swap unless they specifically recorded a bunch of lines just to trick us.
Nah that sequence will be in the main game. Seems like a very basic jrpg character intro for Eric but maybe Yamai was placed into the gameplay for the demo since he stands back in the cutscene after.
That's a good point, it was sort of sloppily added into it since it cuts to him walking down and already ready to fight. Could be that it was just a way to end the demo with a boss fight example and the chapter goes on far longer even though it feels like a chapter end.
I swear those devs at RGG are creatively bankrupt, look at this shit design, it looks exactly like Kamuchuro, they just can't innovate for shit can they?
Speaking of that area, anyone else annoyed that all the weapon and armor shops have a vendor standing at the door instead of letting you inside? They very clearly have fairly big interiors but they didn't let you walk in them for some reason. You can even sometimes see a clerk right behind the person and I don't know if that's just for the demo or also the final game.
Yeah, they're pulling a Jean Reno in Onimusha where he's lending his likeness and they have him voiced by someone else if I remember the whole situation right. Funny thing is someone must have watched Spy Kids/Machete because in the trailers he's brandishing one.
They had pretty good chemistry in the demo. I like Kiryu being the straight man to Ichiban's cartoonish antics.
I like when you go into the first battle with him and he starts talking about it being more fun when they're monsters and Kiryu is like the Walter White "Jesse, what the frick are you talking about" meme.
That's actually perfect. Trejo has a history in crime which evolved into his roles in cinema. It's no different than the other myriad of crime film actors having roles in the series. The perfect choice for a series like this. Beat Takeshi is still my favorite though.
This guy will be more popular than Majima apparently
All my hype is killed by turn based combat. Literally change it back to brawler and I remove any complaints I have and give both Ichiban and Hawaii a chance.
The bosses are still gonna suck absolute ass but Kiryu in 8 helps it out I feel because of the style changes. They also made attacks a bit faster (With Kiryu's being the fastest it felt like) and they made it more interactive for the player with proximity buffs, back attack buffs, combo attacks, and ragdolling enemies into each other. It's certainly still not great but they've made improvements on basic things to make it into more of its own thing compared to 7. 7 feels more like a beta test by comparison.
It's gay. I play this series because it's japanese. I don't want to see a bunch of americans and ecelebs in these games. I hope new gays are happy. Another series has been raped to death.
(You) >still no argument
The only difference is that now you recognize the actor used because you don't know a single thing about Japan or whether any one character shown in previous Yakuzas were OCs or had their face and voice given by big deal Nihongo actors. Once more, shut the frick up.
Yeah sure. Frick right off back to twitter or whatever homosexual discord you use. You people pollute, ruin and take over these series and tell old gays that we were wrong from the start. I can't wait to see how they'll rape persona next.

I just hope they do the ichiban/kiryu chemistry well enough throughout the game so they can finally get a good sendoff and passing down of the torch with the whole cancer thing.
Although I feel like there won't be a satisfying closure until we deal with the daidoji.
Yeah so far so good. I really want them to make it as kino as possible. I'd love a final showdown with Ichiban going full bro helping Kiryu against the daidoji while Kiryu says shit like "it's my fight" and Ichi finally making him realize that he's got people willing to go that far for him.
I am from Philly and this city looks like shit for about 50% of it. Does Hawaii actually look this pretty and I live in a bubble? I remember visiting Boston and it looked like a modern 21st European city.
Can someone explain to me why RGG hates Majima all of a sudden? Starting with 3 they built him up more and more as both a deeper character and mascot but then 6 boots him to irrelevance with increasingly minor cameos after. Now they outright want him replaced. What happened?
>toughest boss
Yeah toughest guy who was onboard with disbanding his own clan lmao >inb4 people still claim yakuza clans aren't realistic in current year as new yakuza titles have even more criminal organizations than the old ones
It's pretty stupid Saejima said the Tojo Clan was the only proof guys like him existed and in 7 he was completely on board with dissolution with absolutely no explanation other than Majima was also on board
Not just him but Hamazaki, the guy who gave his life for him, and even Kiryu agreed with it. I can't complain too much though the organized crime stories since the dissolution have been far more interesting than before.
Yes, second largest ethnic group in fact. If they are going to keep expanding the setting it's cool they stick to places that at least have a large Japanese population still. Ichiban will go to Brazil in Yakuza 9.
Kinda weird how Infinite Wealth is going to be the first game since Y3 in 2009 that DOESN'T get a subtitle in Japanese. For those that don't know the titles of the mainline games up to this one in Japan have been: >Like a Dragon 3 >Like a Dragon 4: Heir to the Legend >Like a Dragon 5: Fulfiller of Dreams >Like a Dragon 0: The Place of Oath >Like a Dragon 6: The Poem of Life >Like a Dragon 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness >Like a Dragon 8
Pretty weird, wonder what's that about
I just want playable Nishiki bros.
Not talking about Kurohyou but honest-to-God Nishiki. I'd love a 2-protagonist game with him and Kiryu before he spends 10 years in the joint, let's say 1993 or something.
And yes, I know that this as an "interquel" would be absolute hell from a narrative standpoint. Still don't care. I want to play as my boy.
That would be cool as frick, but didn't he mostly sit on his arse and let his thugs do all the work for him?
On the other hand, some quest during that time could explain why he was never hands-on himself.
In the Kiwami flashbacks he was but this'd be a bit later. There's a pretty famous RGG online quest where he tracks down the doctor that scammed him and harvests his organs, they could adapt that.
Right, after he had his change of heart. That would actually be fricking sick >There's a pretty famous RGG online quest where he tracks down the doctor that scammed him and harvests his organs
Frick man, I hate RGG for not bringing this game to the West in some way or form.
>I hate RGG for not bringing this game to the West in some way or form.
It's a garbage gacha and a majority of the substories you actually need to own the cards to even play. The only free ones are Ichiban's main story ones, the side stuff like Wesker's or Nishiki's you need their card.
I mean, there's... shit, you're right.
The only time you actually play as an active Yakuza is in 1's prologue, at the end of 1 while Kiryu's the 4th chairman and during the Majima Saga in Kiwami 2.
I shall await the Like a Brawler mod instead. Speaking of which, one for 7 is out on the 27th I think.
Either way though, only thing I am holding out for is another Judgment game, its cast and gameplay is the best there's ever been, so much so that I really wouldn't mind Yakuza being dropped completely in favour of it at this point, especially if turn-based and Ichiban is what RGG plans on sticking with.
The thing about Judgment is that
1. Takuya Kimura is very busy probably after the agency restructuring
2. Nagoshi left and Yokayama was never as involved with Judgment
the 26th, actually
the mod creator is basically "giving" us exactly 1 month to finish 7 with the mod before 8 releases, which suits me just fine, because I tried replaying 7 a few weeks ago, but dear god, I already thought it played like shit, but the Infinite Wealth demo showed me just how truly bad 7 actually is.
The brawler mod might be the only saving grace for anyone that wants to replay this game
In the demo the first gang of blacks that tried to rob kiryu spoke only in English, but I'm assuming most of the main cast will be Japanese and only speak Japanese
Every piece of story and main character dialogue is in the selected audio track but the npcs and enemies have english/japanese voicelines based on the city you're in, regardless of audio track.
Hawaii is looking pretty comfy
He is pretty cool all things considered. I did find it funny that compared to the other fights we had as Ichiban the mooks were the only real part of the fight and his boss fight was very clearly in Ichiban's head since he's still standing on the porch with his coat as soon as you finish it.

Truly the Ubisoft of Japan
This looks nothing like Kamurocho

Ubi wishes they were like RGG when it comes to their cashcow franchise
How do we feel about western celebs getting roles in the games?
Is that Danny fricking Trejo?
He goes by Dwight Mendes in these parts
Yeah, they're pulling a Jean Reno in Onimusha where he's lending his likeness and they have him voiced by someone else if I remember the whole situation right. Funny thing is someone must have watched Spy Kids/Machete because in the trailers he's brandishing one.

This is still the biggest pull they ever had and it's all thanks to Nagoshi drinking beers with him.
Wait Hirose is voiced and modeled by the Takeshi who made Takeshi's Challenge? kek
So is this actually Danny Trejo or is Danny Trejo portraying someone else?
All my hype is killed by turn based combat. Literally change it back to brawler and I remove any complaints I have and give both Ichiban and Hawaii a chance.
tsmt

The irony in this post goddamn
Shut up gay. I've been onboard with this series since the ps3 days. To see what zero and the gays posting memes have done to it is depressing.
>I'm le old school fear me
My first Yakuza was Y1 on the PS2, shut the frick up.
Did you feel the same about him?
ecelebs and americans gay. And yeah sure it was. Lying Black folk.

Hai Du's channel got nuked lol. Sega finally taking down the OST uploads on Youtube.
>they didnt unlock the true hidden boss
OH NONONONONO
Your yakuza now has mexicans too
Get fricked Yakuzagays
It's okay, I made Trejo an honorary white
Trejo is based
Also who tf cares about there being other races in Yakuza?
Fake outrage, we've had based Gary Buster Holmes ever since the first game
He's going to be a party member. Hanawa dies. Chihiro betrays you. 8 is the first in the series to have a foreigner as a final boss.
I am from Philly and this city looks like shit for about 50% of it. Does Hawaii actually look this pretty and I live in a bubble? I remember visiting Boston and it looked like a modern 21st European city.
Hideo Kojima playing a character in a Yakuza game WHEN?
Majima's become flanderized.
>yfw Majima was born in 1964
This is a 60 year old man according to Japan
Why are they so reluctant to age their characters a bit? Majima with salt and pepper hair would be based af
Because they know a large part of their audience is pathetic fujos
have you ever seen a 60 year old?
This is a 60 year old man according to Japan
And this is how he looked like 20 years ago. Now compare 8!Majima with Kiwami!Majima.
Why do some Japanese not age until they suddenly age 30 years in a year?
It's just how they're made
Not even the worst offender
this is a 24 years old man in japan
More like the year he was born
Extended trailer dropped. Have to put up with the English dub but it's 10 minutes of extra stuff.
>Hey maybe I can 100% the sidequests in 6
>Have to beat 3 home run courses and then another one to do so.
I don't feel so good bros.
>have Crispin Freeman for the Judgement games
>don't cast him to voice anyone in the mainline Yakuzas
Well obviously, doesn't make sense for crossovers.
There was a crossover in Gaiden though
Can someone explain to me why RGG hates Majima all of a sudden? Starting with 3 they built him up more and more as both a deeper character and mascot but then 6 boots him to irrelevance with increasingly minor cameos after. Now they outright want him replaced. What happened?
>ignoring 0
>ignoring the additions he got in kiwami 1/2
>Ignoring that he's the toughest boss in 7
made me reply
>toughest boss
Yeah toughest guy who was onboard with disbanding his own clan lmao
>inb4 people still claim yakuza clans aren't realistic in current year as new yakuza titles have even more criminal organizations than the old ones

I said they built him up starting with 3 until 6. Yakuza 0 was before 6 dumbass.
How many NOT Majimas are they going to introduce before realizing they should just make prequels instead
>Tamashiro
>Minami
>Nishitani
>Koshimuzi
>Sadamoto
>Nishitani but again
Am I missing anyone?
Kugihara.
Maybe Soma.
why the FRICK are there so many japanese in hawaii? is it like this in the real world too?
42% asian population.
Yes, second largest ethnic group in fact. If they are going to keep expanding the setting it's cool they stick to places that at least have a large Japanese population still. Ichiban will go to Brazil in Yakuza 9.
they like to go piss on pearl harbour
Kinda weird how Infinite Wealth is going to be the first game since Y3 in 2009 that DOESN'T get a subtitle in Japanese. For those that don't know the titles of the mainline games up to this one in Japan have been:

>Like a Dragon 0: The Place of Oath
>Like a Dragon 6: The Poem of Life
>Like a Dragon 7: Whereabouts of Light and Darkness
>Like a Dragon 8
Pretty weird, wonder what's that about
I really wish we got all of these subtitles in english. I wonder why they did that for 6, but none of the others
I guess to add a sense of finality to it
I just want playable Nishiki bros.

I think a Gaiden game about him early into the Nishikiyama family could be cool. We could see young Shindo and Kanda as punks.
That would be cool as frick, but didn't he mostly sit on his arse and let his thugs do all the work for him?
On the other hand, some quest during that time could explain why he was never hands-on himself.

First chapter of 0 too.
remember when they randomly expel saejima in 5 just so that you can be allowed to play as him?
>Sawashiro got recasted
Throw the whole dub away already.
Uh yeah, just pretend the dub doesn't exist
>dub
enjoy yongyea homosexual
He was one of the few good voices so that's really dumb. Zhao, Han, and Ichiban were the others.
>Zhao
Robbie Daymond sounds good at first but then you hear him somewhere else and realise he has one voice.
>T*rn-cringe

Hopefully 8 is easier to mod into a brawling game seeing as kiryu can temporarily turn it on
That's just a limit break type thing though. The enemies don't actually have an ai.
Nor does Kiryu actually play like he does in Gaiden. It's deliberately simple as frick.
How are they handling Hawaii? Is everyone going to speak Japanese regardless, or are they going to mix the voice languages?
In the demo the first gang of blacks that tried to rob kiryu spoke only in English, but I'm assuming most of the main cast will be Japanese and only speak Japanese
Every piece of story and main character dialogue is in the selected audio track but the npcs and enemies have english/japanese voicelines based on the city you're in, regardless of audio track.
>Game set in Hawaii.
Ichiban no! Don't go down that path, the Night Marchers haunt those parts!
Hey Ganker
I peawienered your mom
i didn't think shitani would die that early in judgement
