I'm bored and i don't know what to play, convince me to reinstall 0 and replay it from the beginning
Don't, shits boring after the first time
I've only played up to the business management part with Kiryu and I haven't touched the game in years. I'm sure the parts I've seen are still fresh
Oh, i thought you finished it, that's like chapter 4 or someshit, you should defs replay it
fun story
You didn't even get to the sunshine club?
Reminder to play them in release order. Don't start with 0 like a moron, it's the sixth game in the series.
Lots and lots of threads popping up lately from morons who started with 0 and now can't play the others.
Playing 0 first is fricking zoomer Johnny come lately bullshit homosexualry.
Best yakuza is 2, get pissed. Yagami sucks, I hope Kaito just replaces him and the series continues and Yagami is gone. He’s a void of personality in a series known for loud personalities, and no, he isn’t “grounded” he’s fricking boring. Ichiban and Like a Dragon rules tho, when the frick is LaD2. All that said, if RGG bails on Judgment entirely and Yak goes back to beat em up that’s cool too.
I started with 0, like 90% of the other players because 0 is the game that elevated the series from some niche franchise, to what it is today.
Anyways, I had no problem with progressing through the games, but I have to say going from Kiwami 2 to Y3 was rough, but after a couple of hours you don't really notice and Y3 has become on of my favourites.
Your take is absolute autism and pure gatekeeping.
Y0 is a great entry point and reviews, sales and the response of the community has proven it also
0 is okay as an entry point but it's far from the ideal and introduces a bunch of issues if you do start from it that aren't as apparent if you started from it.
>Majima as he's seen in 0 wasn't even remotely like that until 4 so you have multiple games after 0 where he's the Joker and the entire ending cutscene doesn't really make any sense to a newcomer.
>They intended for this to be an extended backstory for Majima as seen in 4 and directly continues from those cutscenes which is why 0 directly copies some of the cutscenes except cuts out spoilers from 4 so you've got these weird cutscenes that explain the bare minimum.
>Saejima is never once addressed after being brought up despite being Majima's major motivation for half the stuff he does in 0 so it's just a loose thread after that.
>The entire Makoto romance is pointless and only makes sense if you have only played 0 because 5 immediately invalidates it and you will arguably get angrier at Majima if you play 5 after 0.
>The Majima Saga stuff in K2 makes even less sense because of even more stuff 5 set up and directly contradicts stuff Majima himself mentioned.
>The ending sort of spoils the first few chapters of 1.
>Style system is in both 0 and K1 making you think it's a series staple when it's primarily only been in spinoffs and still only continues to be in spinoffs.
>Writing going from 0 to K1 and K2 for both story and substories is a massive leap because you go back a decade in it.
>Substory tone is wackier on average.
>Basic gameplay features become wildly different when you jump from K1 to K2 to 3.
>Amon's story is a complete mess so 0, K1, and K2's can't be canon with 3's making no sense at all if you started from 0.
>Gives you massive expectations for games going forward that aren't typical of the series.
The only real benefits you get from starting with 0 are that you get to see Nishiki, Dojima, Shimano, and Sera not as literal whos and an easier game to jump into the series with.
>Amon's story is a complete mess
>Amon's story
>story
Moose I know you're the Yakuza expert and literally in every thread, but aren't you reading into this a bit too much?
They've got a constant overarching story even if it is a secret boss.
It starts with him being hired as a hitman by someone in the Tojo Clan to kill Kiryu in 1 (I can't remember if he specified who) and then being defeated.
He then gets his brothers to gang up on Kiryu in 2 because their clan has never not killed a target and he's brought shame upon their name.
3 has him going off the deep end by hiring Minamida to create a Going Into Games Machine so that he can beat up the Kiryu from his brain hundreds of times and finally attempt to kill Kiryu and then Minamida.
After that 4 and 5 are him and his relatives learning new techniques to try and kill them with with Tanimura's brother getting absurdly angry that he'd shirk fighting him to put Shinada in his place.
In between those two games you have Jo introducing Amon Clan lore in Dead Souls that they train in the underground of Kamurocho on reanimated corpses which is how they get as strong as they do and Amon's ancient ancestor's zombie ghost is haunting the area forcing Kiryu to intervene.
6 has Jo losing to Kiryu again and coming to terms with the fact he's lost enough to swallow his pride and fight alongside Kiryu to try and learn a weakness of his.
Having lost and seeking new avenues to kill Kiryu, Jo creates a Going Into Manga Machine and world hops into the FotNS universe where he's killed by Kenshiro.
Jo having died beings Shin up to bat and since he's new he wants to train against the strongest people in Kamurocho which leads to him fighting Yagami.
Shin then partners up with Kiryu to get stronger and to also test Ichiban's strength for Kiryu.
Shin, having gained experience from all this and a bunch of training, challenges Yagami again to rejoin the Amon Clan after his loss in Judgment but his brother Juzo intervenes this time to see if Yagami really is that strong and because of this Juzo walks back Shin's expulsion from the Amon Clan.
Adding a bit more to this since I ran out of room.
Kenzan and Ishin's Amons can easily be argued to have been stricken from the annals of Amon history for losing because, well, they're both dead, but also because Musashi died like the day of so they couldn't really exact their revenge. The only real hanging thread is why they didn't try killing Ryoma after he
settled down with Oryo.
0 brings up a problem with this entire overarching story and then K1 and K2 add to it because 0 has both So and Jo losing to Kiryu and Majima respectively but they don't care about Majima at all. The biggest issue here is that both Jo and So are not even there to kill either of them, they're there for strength autism reasons. So speaks in a way that implies he wants to kill Kiryu but he uses the PG way of "It's time to destroy you" to say it so you can imply that just means beating him to prove he's stronger. K1 has strength autism Jo again and K2 has strength autism Jo again again but now his brothers want to kill Kiryu for no reason (Which 1 would have explained). Going into 3 from that makes Amon's pure vitriol make absolutely no sense since he leaves fairly amicably at the end of K2.
Only 3 gave him a very vague and loose story-ish with the IF7 but after that he just pops up to fight Kiryu just because
He has reasons for each game afterward, 4 and 5 are arguably the only sort of weakly justified ones unless you want to count Judgment since it sort of leaves the whole FotNS situation up in the air if it's part of the whole story or not with Shin. 4 and 5 are mainly just the group of brothers from 2 being sore losers and wanting to jump Kiryu but he now has friends who can fight them and 5 is basically a normal challenge to see if they can survive.
Dead Souls outright has an entire story to why Amon is even around in that game and adds some lore to their clan on top of that.
Majima is 25 in zero, and just got out of the Hole, his expression can be different.
> Makoto
She's used to examine Majima's devotion to Shimano.
>his expression can be different.
The problem is that he's more or less identical to his 4 backstory personality and the leap to 1's take on Majima is a hard sell after you only just began to see the Mad Dog at the end of 0 because he comes off as a completely different character even compared to that variant of the Mad Dog. 0's ending Mad Dog before the timeskip is nothing close to even 0's timeskip Mad Dog and that's just one line he speaks. K1 makes him go even harder than that on the personality if you just started with 0. That's usually one of the main complaints people who go from 0 to K1 bring up.
>She's used to examine Majima's devotion to Shimano.
Okay, but the issue here is that if you've played 5 you know the romance means nothing because he falls for Park a few years later and it undermines the entire ending of 0 when it happens. If you've played 0 you take it at face value and then 5 completely upends the entire story up to that point and makes his entire romance with her make no sense because he leaves Makoto so that she doesn't need to deal with the Yakuza anymore even though they both love each other when he's fine with bringing someone with no involvement with organized crime into the Yakuza life regardless. Then K2 drops the story beat that he actually loved her for years when 5 pretty explicitly points out in the letter to Park that Majima was obsessed and in love with Park even though he was mad at her.
>obsessed and in love
>she gets an abortion
>he beats her up and divorces her
Doesn't sound like love
The entire plot of 5 happens because Majima was obssessed with Park having her YUME though, and he even fakes his own death to find out who killed her.
Thanks for this, Im enjoying 0 right now and bought Kiwami + 2 and Yakuza 3 to play in that exact order and noone can stop me
I started with 0, k1, k2 and I still finished the whole kiryu series and now also the first judgment. Starting with 0 is the ideal way. Even if they don't play the ones after it, at least they experienced a very good yakuza game. It's better than them starting and quitting 1 or k1 without ever having experienced one of the better games.
1 and especially 2 are some of the better games, it's not that much of a step down from 0
Imo, in both story and presentation, both of them are a huge stepdown. They're also exclusive to a console that pretty much nobody has anymore, or emulation on a halfway decent PC.
combat sucks in both, the story additions for the most part suck dick also (the nishki stuff in K1 is good)
The pleb filter
0 and Judgment are the best ones imo
I remember i pre-ordered Judgment on Amazon and i got it 4 days earlier, a Friday, when I was doing my exams, crazy how i still remember where I was and what time it was
6 because it's like classic turn based jrpgs and that's more interesting than learning a trillion combos and button presses (I would actually need to learn how to use a "controller" to play well)
You mean 7 right?
yes 7 mb
i don't even know what that means.
You can beat every yakuza with light light heavy spam on easy, how much of a fricking homosexual are you.
>square square (...) square
>square square (...) triangle
>R1+Triangle tiger drop
>too much to memorize
The absolute state
Yakuza 3 > LAD > Yakuza 5 > Kiwami > 0 > 6 = 4/2
Whacky ass rn I know
kiwami 2 because you get cabaret club 2.0, the big fights for the bouncer, the crazy arena matches, and i like getting fights in the street and taking into the stores.
For me, it's Yakuza 4. The perfect blend of ambition and refinement.
>BUT RUBBER B
You were filtered, it's okay.
Based take but can you elaborate on what you mean by ambition and refinement?
Personal favorite is 7, the story just really got to me and I had lots of fun despite the combat being piss easy. I love the soundtrack, the party members, the minigames...and of course Ichiban himself, I can't wait to see what they do with him going forward.
>Based take but can you elaborate on what you mean by ambition and refinement?
Absolutely. Going from one protagonist for three games all the way to four is massive. They easily could have just done Akiyama as a second protagonist but went balls out with four of them, including the incredibly risky Saejima who would would just be a villain in any other franchise. By refinement I meant finally opening up Kamurocho a little more, sad that they cut out all of the expanded parts in later games but that's understandable for games with multiple cities. Also refining the gameplay since it's a massive step up from 3, Kiryu feels great to use in 4 and levels up really quickly so you have access to all of his moves pronto.
5>2>0>3>4>1>>K1>6>K2
I haven't finished 7
I like them all
his eye patch is on the wrong eye
his actor is blind on the correct eye so they just swapped it over
I like 5 best other than 0, it has the best look of the old engine, the story is interesting and there's the best mini game in the series
Which one
>Bear hunting
>Chicken racing
>Taxi racing
>Idol dancing
Taxi racing with eurobeat of course
Lost Judgment. Yeah the story isn't as good as Judge Eyes but it has the best combat in the series and both Soma and Kuwana are much more memorable and enjoyable to see than Shono and Kuroiwa
> Game
Dead Souls of course
are we getting an announcement for Y8 this year?
So, do you guys think Y7 was the last time we saw the old crew and Y8 will only feature the new ones, with a couple of hints but nothing more?
Nagoshi and Sato left, so who knows. LAD had an overwhelmingly positive response, so Ichi is bound to be used in the plot again. Kiryu will be like a shadow guardian for him. Maybe a recurring boss like Amon. We can only be sure that Judgement is fricking dead due to the whole Johnny frickery.
it may has many flaws, but this area is the most comfy area in all games
convince me otherwise, maybe I missed some other comfy areas
>convince me otherwise
Hiroshima in 6 captures a small town vibe perfectly and if they didn't have the two loading screens it would be perfect. The lack of stuff to do does sort of bring it down but the town as a whole is very inviting.
Kyoto from Ishin is very homely despite being a bustling hub of activity and has a lot of great areas, particularly Mibu. There's just so much coziness in Fushimi in particular.
Gion from Kenzan is by far their best in my opinion since it's compact but has the entire torii gate area near the gambling hall, the entire upper street with some decent variety, the fantastic central festival area with the prostitutehouses, and then the off-the-beaten-path areas like the bottom-right near Komaki and the center-left that leads to the small shrine thing. The shrine area in the center-right is also great.
Kyoto + surrounding areas in Kenzan are also great. The teahouse beach area feels like a place you'd want to hang out, the wheat field is pretty cool in how much of it you can see, the farmland is super cozy, and then those side areas like the forest near Shishido's bandit cave or the area where the monk saved Musashi are equally as cozy (Particularly because of the tiny creek).
oh right those other games, we will surely get an
english localisation r-right haha
Gib Kiwami 3 reeee
3 is fine
Yes but I want DE Okinawa
maybe in Yakuza 8? Would be cool to see the orphanage kids again now that they're older
>seeing the orphanage kids again
Anon, Haruka's story is over, and there's no good way to put them in the story unlike Kiryu
could maybe have one or two of them show up in a substory, maybe something mirroring the ways Kiryu helpd them out in 3
I want 10 more Kiryu games, I don't give a frick
>wanting more sloppy soulless remakes
No, frick off
I like to kick bikes
0, 5, and 2
Dead souls, 6, and 7 are my least favourites since the combat is so bad in all of them it ends up dragging a lot of other things down with it like substories and story scenarios
I like 5 because of all the stupid shit you can do in it
>YUME
>S
Frick out of here. I don’t care if best boy got introduced there, the constant barrage of the game hammering you with its themes, and turning Haruka into a moron bumps it down.
but the minigames
No.
ngmi
Honestly I agree that the story is a mess of epic proportions but I put it up there just because of its sheer massive metric frickton of content and amazing minigames/combat/side activities. 5 is just great all around to play even though the story is the obvious drawback.
2>0>4>7>5(before the ending)>1>3>5(after the ending)>6
They should make a game with Kazama in an old timey setting
>Yakuza subzero
>play as Kazama and Shimano
>culminates with the Jingweon raid
Never ever
Any chance that Judgement will be released on PC? For some reason there are only PS5 version on sale in my country, and I have no desire to buy PS5.
No.
It's not that good
As it currently stands, no.
I've just bought it on PS4 since I can't be fricked waiting for the mighty slim chance of Johnny getting their heads out their asses.
>play 0 K1 and K2 on PC
>get a hacked PS4 for 3 onwards
>3 4 5 6 get announced for PC
Ah frick it I played Fist of the North Star and already pirated both Judgments
SAWA SENSEI
Which one has the most moronic writing?
Can't choose between secret koreans, buracku mandey, rubber bullets, and the whole omi clusterfrick
for me: the hidden boat
Ah yes, haven't got there yet
bully hunter
Do you guys really care about the braindead plots of these games? I've gotten a platinum on each PS3 era game yet I couldn't tell you any major plot point for it, I just ignore it in favor of the ludo minigame subplots.
The whole point is the story moron
>Do you guys really care about the braindead plots of these games?
Yes, they're the only reason I play, otherwise I wouldn't be invested in beating the crap out of random guys.
the minigames are literally internet browser games wtf
they're an ok bonus because of le epic kiryuu quips and animations but you're insane if you play the games because of them
I enjoy my manly story heavy soaps with the occasional stop to beat people up
Why wouldn't you?
The pants on head moronic twists pulled with a straight face are the best part of this franchise and some individual stories are pretty good, I can't imagine playing Yakuza for the gameplay aspect alone.
This. Everyone always forgets about the Osaka Castle opening like a shell and a solid-gold copy of it emerging from the geound.
When Nagoshi suggested it the studio thought he was joking but then he asked where was it
Rubber bullets wasn't even that moronic. I thought something was going on when Katsuragi shot Saejima and there was a bleeding wound, but when Saejima shot everyone else there was no blood.
Aizawa
The rubber bullets weren’t really that bad.
what is yagami's character flaw supposed to be
image rights
For story, I love Y4 and all it's new charcters (even Tanimura, but he was meh) and for map/gameplay, Y6 has the most realistic depiction of Kabukicho, and Ono-michi was a good redo of Okinawa in Y3
>all those people
Unironically disgusting to see
Is there a more broken fighting style in the series than Saejima in Y5? Holy shit.
>Fill the heat gauge up with normal combo or pop a tauriner
>Now all your moves have super armor
>You also have the longest HP bar in the series, allow you to tank through all attacks
>Your only weakness from 4, which is group fighting, is fixed with tiger puppetry
>You also have huge damage output with the charging moves
>You even have a better tiger drop
Pistol in Ishin. You literally just put two Symbols on your gun and can do this and you can put one of said Symbols on your gun as soon as you get the DLC gun in chapter 3. You can even get one of the best guns in the entire game in the same chapter in like 20 minutes.
Breaker can stunlock anything except Sera and Shakedown forever just by spinning on the ground and if you have 3rd Heat it's impossible to take you out of the loop.
Boxer can also infinitely stunlock enemies, has three different Tiger Drops, has Rush attack speed, deals Tiger level damage, has Rush level movement, and has an extremely easy to use Heat Action on demand. That's without even getting into Crane, Snake, and Tiger's passive buffs on it.
He only slapped her when she aborted their child without consulting him and the letter she gets from him years later outright states he still loved her.

Majima-san
Hes Ganker as frick
Favorite tattoo?
https://web.archive.org/web/20201112003139/http://fftranslations.atspace.co.uk/rtz/horitomo.html
Minami lel
still don’t understand why majima has that demon girl on his back
looked up what it means and all I got was that it represents female anger but nothing in his backstory makes sense to that
Majima's a hannya, a woman who has become an oni due to her sheer jealousy. However, more important than that is what it actually is; a hannya is a prominent mask used in Noh theater. I don't know how much thought was put into his tattoo, but it's obvious that the idea of Majima wearing a demonic mask became increasingly prominent since Yakuza 2.
Enma
Crane and snake are pretty dope.
Majima's, although I have soft spots for Saejima's and Ichiban's too.
I'd really like to have a sukajan with Ichiban's dragonfish embroidered on it.
Yakuza 8 is another JRPG.
>They actually brought Nanba back.
I had a slight creeping hope they would course-correct back to brawler gameplay after the dogshit of 7 but I guess that's the series dead forever now. I guess we'll see what Nagoshi and Sato get up to at Tencent
The story in 7 was absolute bottom of the barrel too.
TGS probably.
So fall 2023 release most likely.
Nah, that sounds way too late. TGS is in September so they could easily release in December if they wanted since they've done that before. If they don't do it in December then March would make sense since they released several games in March at this point.
>Yakuza 6 was announced on September 15, 2015, at the Tokyo Game Show during the Sony conference
>Yakuza 6: The Song of Life/Initial release date: December 8, 2016
Talking about the western drop date.
after how well yakuza 7 performed in the west there's no chance it isn't a simultaneous WW release
They're simultaneous now by the looks of it. 7 dropped the same date as did LJ. Also don't know why I used 6 in that example since it's a year off, K2 was the year of when it was announced (Announced in August, released in December). You can make the argument that was a remake so it doesn't count which would be fair enough.
Whoops, my bad, 7 was several months apart, LJ was the first simultaneous release. Damn you Wikipedia and your [Show] button.
wtf
Duh. They’ve already said the Ichiban games are going to be RPGs. I don’t know why anyone else would think otherwise.
I genuinely thought Y7 was unforgivably bad so I figured they might chance it up. Guess all the secondaries joining the series now ate it up, though. Reminder this is all of our fault for not gatekeeping hard enough.
I had fun with 7, and I look forward to 8 and more Ichi.
Y7 was alright, I'm a brawler man but I don't really care what they do long as they keep giving us games.
>Yakuza 8 is another JRPG.
They confirmed this ages ago.
It’s probably going to have some slight improvements that don’t actually fix any of the issues with the system
I’ll probably just watch it on YouTube, cause I really don’t feel like slogging through another half-baked JRPG that’s set in the same shit city for another 60+ hours
we get it, your anus has been pulverized by this announcement
stop crying gay lmao
I’ll talk shit if I want lol
7 sucked balls as a JRPG
The Japanese says nothing about the gameplay though
It was in an older article I think. But it's obvious with Adachi, Nanba and Ichi being on-screen.
I mean unless they actually say instead of teasing one part of a cutscene, then I’d hold your horses since they might not even be heavily involved in the story as party members or side characters
I guess you're right but I'm not optimistic
https://twitter.com/famitsu/status/1549363407614185472
I'm legitimately surprised both Adachi and Nanba are back.
I was expecting Adachi just as a supporting cast member rather than a party member since his story was sort of done. Nanba being back is a surprise since only Baba and Yagami have had returning face actor roles.
Gendabros... is our character THAT forgettable?
I completely forgot he was based on a face actor, you're right. Please accept my apologies Genda-sensei.
Are they dropping a trailer soon?
Where did they say it’s another RPG?
Can someone point out?
>Where did they say it’s another RPG?
https://www.ign.com/articles/the-yakuza-series-will-be-a-turn-based-rpg-series-fully-going-forward
This is only a year old.
I mean in the current famitsu articles
I know Nagoshi said that a year ago, but between Nagoshi leaving and that series ending I didn’t know what to think?
iirc Nagoshi barely had a hand in the development of 7
Nah he did
There was a video on segas channel that said he was responsible for the change since he brought it up
He also wrote some of the script too iirc
0 is the only good one.
>t. played 1 and 2 on PS2 and 3 on ps3
No plans to play any other Yakuza games
Y7 story
>Muh pimp
>Muh prostitutes
>Muh illegal immigrants
Hope they do something actually interesting in 8 instead of pozzed shit.
5 was great because it has the best substories
I don't give a frick about main story, every yakuza game story is fricking shit and full of unnecesary plot-twists every 5 minutes
Judgment, probably. Preferred that more than its sequel too, but not really sure why.
Yakuza 0
what the frick is that
Something someone on twitter did to "ruin people's day".
I hope they took all the feedback on the Y7 combat system and improve upon it on 8, but I fear all the people claiming it was the "best JRPG ever" (who hadn't played one in years) may have influenced them to just do the same shit again.
It'll be rinse and repeat, expect nothing. Especially now that Nagoshi and Sato are gone
Frick me I want to play this shit but I'm still holding out for a PC release. Did that Kaito dlc drop yet?
>Did that Kaito dlc drop yet?
Months ago, yeah. It's not even close to worth the money they're asking but it had some good boss fights. Story was like a character's from 4 or 5 but rushed more than usual. It also didn't really add any content outside of a couple things to find in Kamurocho, they didn't even rework the minigames.
I'll wait until it's reduced price.
Can I make some kind of automatic alert to tell me about when something on PSN gets reduced in price?
If you have the PS app on your phone and enable notifications it should let you know through there once you wishlist it. Otherwise you can use
https://psprices.com/region-us/game/5149027/lost-judgment-the-kaito-files-story-expansion
https://psdeals.net/us-store/game/2361804/lost-judgment-the-kaito-files-story-expansion
and make an account. I think psprices doesn't need an account.
cheers m8, thanks
the base game (and the definitive edition) is frequently on sale but the DLC alone hasn't been on sale yet, what a shame.
Dude, it’s been out. Do you live under a rock?
I didn't play LJ cause I'm waiting on a sliver of hope that it'll come PC. And I don't really follow RGG since Yakuza 7.
It’s not coming to PC. Quit coping.
You literally do not understand what the word "coping" means.
I am waiting on the off-chance, I have a PS4 sitting there for whenever I decide to just give up and play it on console. What exactly am I coping with?
it's a new twitter meme
You’re a twitter meme
Your life is a meme. Fricking have a nice day you sack of expired cum.
And I’m telling you that’s never going to happen, but for some reason, you either can’t get that through your thick skull or you’re coping by trying to convince yourself there’s still a chance, when you know the agency will never let that happen.
First off, your instant jump to hostility says a lot about how shit your life is. Sitting there seething at letters on a screen. Blood pressure pumping, constant minor feelings of stress and irritability. Sounds fun.
Second of all why should I believe you? You see the future? It could happen someday, I'm patient. Stay mad lmao
Its not like Nagoshi was fricking Mr. Innovator
People said that Judgement had the best DE combat and they still improved upon it a LOT with LJ. I have faith with this one.
They have 7 games to perfect beat em up format before LJ.
They only have 1 JRPG before Y8.
playing through Y7 it's clear that they never make JRPG before. 80% of the skills are pointless.
Post yfw LaD ending
Keep living, Ichi.
Starting again from rock bottom, huh?
I'll take those odds.
I'm certain that he's still kicking
Probably 5, don't like what they did with 7 so will stick with Judgment instead if they decide to keep that franchise going.
How can it still be called Yakuza when the Tojo and Omi are dead?
At least half the members are still farting around as of LJ and not all of them are part of RK. LJ itself stated that the government needed organized crime to still exist as well so they have an in for making some other group if they want.
>Saw the korean neighborhood was burnt down by my sworn brother
>feelsbad.jpg
>Offered the leader position of the chinese gang to the purple korean prostitute
>Also gave a place in the chinese neighborhood for the koreans to use
>A few weeks later
>Kasuga-chan wants infos from the korean b***h
>Tag along
>mfw they still live in that burnt up building
>mfw I gave away everything to them for nothing
Is Zhao moronic?
Zhao was the best part of 7.
Can't wait for Y8. I've always wanted to see Ichiban and co with Lost Judgment's graphics instead of the nerfed graphics they did for Y7
Was anybody else crushed by Fist of the North Star? My hype levels for it were throuvh the roof, but it waa ultimately to little content padded hard with to much grind.
Unironically 6
It has the comfy rural setting of 3 without the
>boring orphanage chapters
>tank controls
>secret glowie twin asspull
Also Haruka spends 90% of the game in coma where she belongs to.
15h into kiwami1, combat is ass. Will it be better in 2?
How long are these on average?
I picked up Kiwami 1 on a random grab since it was like -75% off, and am having a blast with it and picked up the next couple games in the series - are they generally shorter games like 20 hours or are the traditional JRPG length and just happen to be beat-em-up/brawlers that last 40-50+ hours?
K1 is probably the shortest game in the series.
That doesn't really help me out here, I'm only on chapter 4.
Depends on a game and you willingness to do all substories. Hostess clubs can take a lot of time.
Story runs are anywhere from 10-30ish hours on the longest end. The average is somewhere around 16ish hours. 1's the shortest, 5 and 7 are the longest.
Amon runs (All substories) are typically in the 30-70 hour range or thereabouts which includes running around messing with random minigames from time to time and getting into a bunch of unnecessary random encounters for fun.
100% runs are anywhere from 40ish hours for the shortest games (Mainly just 1 and K1) to 160+ hours for some of the games (5, Ishin, 0, 7, FotNS) usually do to grinding. BP1 and BP2 are that long if you actually go for all the Titles because of the disgusting grind and multiplayer Titles.
I hit around the 25 to 30 hour mark on my first playthroughs doing a mix of main and side content.
It ultimately comes down to how much you allow yourself to frick around. They're not terribly long games but you can get side-tracked easily with the substories.
thanks.
0 starts great but devolves into this weird mess of a game where u swap character for no reason and it fricka over the flow of both stories.
And then the story just abruptly ends and u have all this side story shit unfinished and no reason to do it
It changes every 2 chapters. Are you mad they never meet each other? That's the kino part
I need Y8 right NOW
The JAV thread died
>Nanba is coming back for Yakuza 8
Thank God, I remember people saying he was going to disappear from the series since he's modeled after a real actor
I know it is a normalgay opinion, but I love Adachi and hope he comes back un some capacity even if he isn't a party member.
Can I get a quick rundown on Kiwami's? Any significant differences compared to original games that could be a deal breaker?
Kiwami 1 isn't all that good, but that's because the original game wasn't all that good. Kiwami 2 is great though.
Kiwami 1
>Pros
The new Nishiki scenes turn him from a literal who into at least something resembling a character.
Shinji gets a bit more screen time than he originally did with the new ring scenario at the start of the game.
The Majima Everywhere scenarios are mostly fun.
Dragon feels incredible compared to 0 once fully upgraded.
More minigames than 1.
A few new substories compared to 1 and the ones that were missable aren't anymore.
Final boss fight is a million times better than the joke it was in 1 and has a dynamic intro.
>Cons
The Kiwami system is horrible.
Many reused boss movesets from various games with only a few staying as their original 1 moveset.
Dragon is unusable until hours and hours of Majima Everywhere grind despite being Kiryu's definitive style from 1 onward.
Rush and Beast got hit with the nerf bat hard.
Rush can whiff during combos to enemy backs.
Majima Everywhere as a system is heavily flawed and repetitive nonsense that you can't turn off even if Dragon and ME are both maxed out.
ME also causes issues with the story progress not making any sense at all because Majima can appear when he's not supposed to.
ME also makes Majima's story encounters lose every single bit of weight they had.
Mad Dog isn't the original Y1 Mad Dog moveset but the modern one so it's slower.
No Fart Bomb hoodies.
Mine's model is used as a generic grunt for no reason and it makes no sense.
Music remixes are pretty terrible and they ruined Iji Sakura something fierce with the remix.
Enemies can now knock you down during random hits in their combo even though they don't look like they should which leads to extremely dissatisfying combat flow.
They still didn't fix the second-to-last boss and arguably made it an even worse fight due to the previous point.
The chapter 6 boss fight is significantly worse than 1 by a landslide.
Any sequel substory to 0 isn't canon to future games because 6 overwrites them all happening.
Kiwami 2
>Pros
Dragon Engine Sotenbori
They balanced and reintroduced a lot of mechanics 6 didn't have while adding some new friendship Heat Actions.
Bouncer Missions are fun.
The coliseum is probably the best one in terms of enemies they've had yet.
You can't lock yourself out of Amon by making an incorrect choice in substories for your entire save.
The new substories are pretty good though Sunset 3 is venting from the devs.
Some of the new minigames are fun.
Majima Saga.
>Cons
Bounce blocks still exist from 6 and lead to very dissatisfying combat.
Kiryu uses the 6 DoD with the style amalgamation instead of the original DoD.
The final gauntlet of the game is ruined because of the modern inventory system and how overpowered you are compared to 2. It also ruins the final boss stuff.
Man in Black is a complete mess compared to how the fight worked in 2 and is harder than any boss in the game outside of the Amons.
Shinseicho was cut and had everything that was in it relocated to Sotenbori with an NPC complaining it's not in the game.
A lot of the stubstories take place in generic areas now compared to 2.
Club Adam was cut.
The Marietta was cut (This is for the better to be perfectly honest).
Amon's fight is less interesting and in a worse location.
The new licensed songs are worse and don't really fit but as songs they're fine.
They added a sound effect that ruins the dramatic tension of a somewhat important scene.
Takashima's new model replacement now makes his character motivation make no sense at all.
Kaoru's VA isn't as good as the original one.
The YF6 minigame was completely cut when 2 was the only game that had it and replaced for VF2 which is in a bunch of games.
Clan Creator was not programmed to be a TD so the AI still functions like it does in 6 leading to a really awful minigame.
Kaoru's sideboob got blurred.
Majima Saga contradicts 5.
They cut random minor stuff that doesn't make much sense to cut like Ryuji's lackeys during a boss fight.
Akiyama the GOAT
For game rankings though 7 and judgment are probably the best and 3 and 1 probably the worst.
6 isn't all that great but dragon engine bumps it up a bunch. All the other games are interchangeable as they're all similar quality (Still not finished lost judgment though as got bored)
What if 7 had an intro?
I am Shinataro Kazuma
I have 2 adopted sons, both of whom I have murdered their parents
Actually my orphanage is full of kids I’ve kidnapped after murdering their parents
Anyways I raised these boys to idolize me
Predictably they want to join the Yakuza because of me
I "disapprove" of them becoming Yakuza knowing full well that will only inspire them to try harder
In 1988 I got sent to jail for running an illegal gambling house preying on the general public
While in jail I played a pivotal role behind the scenes in betraying my Yakuza family and thwarting my Patriarch
Despite Yakuza rules of engagement, I got several civilians involved in Yakuza politics which ended up in their deaths
Later after BEST SON Kiryu went to jail I interrogated his girlfriend Yumi and learned it wasn't Kiryu who killed Dojima but WORST SON, Nishikiyama
I decided to set Nishikiyama up for failure
I made Nishikiyama patriarch of his own family and supplied him with unruly, thuggish men that Nishikiyama cannot control
I purposefully gave WORST SON no guidance on how to be a leader so when BEST SON Kiryu gets out of jail he can easily take the place of WORST SON Nishikiyama
Additionally, during this time, I decided to steal 10 billion yen from my own clan
Turns out WORST SON Nishikiyama spilled the beans on the theft, killed the 3rd chairman, and kickstarted a yakuza civil war, oops
I survived an assassination attempt and hid on a boat
Despite lauded for my tactical genius I kept the boat moored to the dock where it is within easy range of a thrown rock
Wait, a boat tied to the docks where it is within easy range of assault?
Doesn't sound familiar
In a raid against the Korean mafia I let 3 members live despite my orders to kill them. Those surviving members rallied years later and sought revenge, killing many Yakuza and innocent civilians.
My actions have led to many major events and their ramifications that are felt even decades later
Yet somehow I'm still the good guy of the series
Shinataro prequel set in the 60s-70s when
I hope young Bacchus makes a brief appearance
Never because we can't have MCs killing people
>most yakuza "fans" only know 0
damn
And where did you get this statistic? From Ganker autists? I started with 0, played through them all and my friends did the same after I hyped up the games up for them and were from Europe.
The series is selling very well in western countries and is constantly gaining more attention. Ganker opinions mean nothing.
NEW CITY FRICKING WHEN
what's the secret to LJ combat? everyone says it's great but it feels about the same to me but with smoother style change
use the crane style
square square square square triangle triangle triangle
after the last triangle, the homosexual you are fighting gonna fly for half a second
switch to tiger
then do rush combo ( square square square)
have fun.
They are all the same game
>Be me
>Year is 2017
>Play Yakuza 0 for the first time
>First Yakuza game ever
>Finish it
>Amazing game by all means, almost perfection.
>2 Months pass
>Buy Yakuza Kiwami
>Gameplay is even better
>But the levels are shit and the bosses are a oad of bullshit
>Dissapointed
>No motivation to finish the game
>Leaves series
Now I want to give the series another try, how's yakuza 1 restored?
5 for haruka
sniff
