Almost 4 years of beating this thing up now and it still runs like a dream, though I do wish I could get more frames in Skyrim when I'm using an ENB, but I chalk that up to the shitty engine or my poor optimization of the game and its mods.

If you get less than 150 fps in an open area, good luck in battle or in Rattay/Sasau. I had a 970 myself before getting a 2070S. Still drops to 50-60 in town.
If I owned it I'd test it myself, but the R9 Fury sits comfortably between the gtx 980/980TI. How low does it get in battles and isn't 50-60 fps just fine with Freesync/Gsync anyway?
1 v 1 battle in a big open area will definitely be fine. The opening chase sequence with all the npcs around will be choppy, basically the more NPCs, the more chop. It's pretty unbearable imo, I shill the game hard but I wouldn't recommend it to people with underperforming hardware.
50-60 doesn't feel good for me, sure it's not tearing, but I have a 144fps monitor and I'm spoiled.

Forgot to say, just give the game a try with a pirate. I pirated it before I bought it and completed it a second time.
KCD is extremely CPU demanding. I play it at locked 80fps at 4k with a 5800x and 3080.
At 1440p the framerate would go from 100+ outside to 50s in rattay, using dldsr to up the resolution to 4k helped alot.
When it released I played it with i5 2500k and 980 and it was just about playable but stuttered hardcore when running through towns, grabbed a cheap i7 3770 from a friend and it almost doubled the minimum framerates with the same GPU
The reality is you're stuck with a bad card and are so poor that you can't afford to get a better one 10 years later.

I say I made the reasonable choice. I'll get a few more years of life out of this PC and when I do rebuild I'll switch to get DDR5, an insane CPU, and all SSD's in my PC and only after all that will I consider upgrading my gpu again.

I can run probably 75% of my steam library maxed out on a 1050 Ti. A good majority of those actually run better on an old HD 6950 just cause of their age and driver support. I do like DLSS/Super Resolution though.

Upgraded from a 1080 to a 3080 and hooo boy is it nice. I now have 2 computers. One with a 1080 and one with a 3080. Both are quite capable. I get a boner not having to use a laptop as my second PC. My 980ti did a Tibetan monk and fricking set itself on fire two months before the warranty expired, EVGA sent me a 1080 as a replacement, God bless them - prolonged the lifespan of my PC. The only two modern games it somewhat struggled at 1440p ultra were CP2077 at release and TWWH3 - other then that, there's no reason to upgrade if you don't care for RT, games look and run fund without it
