      Anonymous

Yes, I don't know why so many controllers have dogshit dpads or why so many people seem to think they're good. Like...

Duke has the best dpad and the correct analog placement but the black/red buttons are fricking moronic so it's a tough one. PS2's controller was mushy crap but I guess I go with that since it's the most relatable control scheme.

What? No. That dpad is shit. Frick you.

      Correct opinions.

      Frick off with that shit!!
I love the Super Nintendo controller above all others.

I wish they took the concept of the Dreamcast controller and developed it further in modern systems.

    >system memory is stored in your controller
    >the controller also has a little screen on it that can display artwork specific to the game, or maybe data like your current HP or ammo or something.

A modern day equivalent of the technology is the Nintendo Switch.

It was called the Wii U and you didn't buy one

      Anonymous

The issue with the VMU screen was that you had to be in a well lit environment to even see it, and like the Wii U pad showed it was hard to keep your attention on two different screens at the same time when one is in your lap and the other in front of you.
Plus it ate up batteries like mad even if you didn't play the VMU games on it, I'm sure 90 percent of anybody's DC playtime had the battteries dead and the controller signalling to everybody within a 10 mile radius that you turned the console on with it's loud ass BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.

DS2 is the best all-arounder. DC and GC controllers have shit d-pads and are missing buttons, the duke only has 2 shoulders.

The Dreamcast controller is cool and surprisingly comfortable but unfortunately it feels like a third party controller with cheap plastic and bad buttons, I've never actually used a Gamecube controller but it looks like a stupid fisher price toy, I love six buttoned controllers like the Xbox, but the Dpad looks and feels like a piece of melted plastic and it's just too yuge. Dualshock is kinda boring and its pretty much a Snes controller with handles and analog sticks (which isn't a bad thing) but it just works, and the analog buttons of the DS2 is pretty cool I guess.

    GameCube
Dreamcast is at a huge disadvantage because of the lack of a second stick unless you can throw some card in it to add gyro which doesn't exist.
Dualshock has always been the worse controller to hold and the left analog stick makes it even worse.
Xbox is really the only other right choice and thats down to preference.
So GameCube is my choice, it's just as comfortable and natural as the xbox to hold, I can play 2d stuff with a stick even if it isn't preferable and there's still a second stick for camera control.

    Gamecube, easy.
Most ergonomic out of all of those, and its face button layout is far better than the grid-like system of the others. Also had pressure sensitive triggers with a secondary function when fully pressed(only some games utilized this, however.)
Only thing that'd make it perfect is an extra bumper above the left trigger.

PS controllers are too small, but the stick placement is better for shooters: otherwise worse in any other game type. Used to use a PS3 controller to play emulated games with and it always cramped my hands with how small it was. Old xbox controller is awful with its face button placement. Dreamcast only has one stick so it's an immediate no.

Best controller not listed is the xbox360 controller by far.
