You can have more, but then you'd have to switch out the cables and it's a hassle and you don't want to deal with it.
What do you choose? I'm still undecided but for me:
>ps2
>n64
>gamecube
>Snes
>Genesis
>Saturn
>Dreamcast
>Neo Geo AES
On the fence about the neo geo, and I'd like to slot in a pc engine, but I'm on the fence about that one too.
>PS2
>GBA
>Gamecube
>N64
>SNES
>XBOX (I haven't played this in forever)
>PC for FPS games
Emulation, handhelds, and pc are not allowed.
why not?
>OG Xbox emulates everything up to 4th gen
>PS1, N64, Saturn
>Dreamcast, PS2, GameCube
>GBA
if I ran out of games I’d be an idiot. too many choices too easy try harder next time homosexual
Genesis + Sega CD
Saturn
NES
SNES
N64
Saturn
PS2
All anyone really needs.
*Correction:
Genesis + Sega CD
Saturn
NES
SNES
N64
Wii (not retro)
PS2
Master System
GB
GBA
SNES
N64
PS
PS2
PS3
I'm taking backwards compatibility into account, so here's how my collection would end up being:
NES
SNES
GBA (GB & GBC)
Master System
Genesis
SEGA CD
Game Gear
PS2 (PS1)
If backwards compatibility wasn't allowed, I'd go and swap the SEGA CD for the PS1, but that's it.
Master system is redundant if you get a power base. Also I’d consider cd addons like the sega cd, pc engine cd, and N64 dd to be addons and not a separate console
I preferred to not count those as it sort of felt like cheating, but now that I think of it, OP had nothing saying that this wasn't allowed, so with that in mind my list would look like this for now:
NES/Famicom + FDS
SNES (GB/GBC/GBA w/ Super Game Boy)
N64 + DD
Game Cube (GB/GBC/GBA w/ Game Boy Player)
Genesis (Master System w/ Power Base) + CD/32x
Game Gear (Master System w/ Master Gear)
PC Engine + CD-ROM
PS2 (PS1)
Well... I'd say that this is all I really need, with all of this I'd be able to play pretty much any retro video game I'm interested in, surely a few had to be left out, but that's part of these challenges.
>GBA (GB & GBC)
What about a Gamecube with a gameboy player accessory?
NES
PC Engine CD
Mega Drive w/ Sega CD (it counts as one too, dwi)
Super NES
Saturn
PS
N64
Dreamcast
Pretty much all the /vr/ stars are here.
Why do these sort of threads always have some gay imaginary criteria, like you're too lazy and moronic to change a cable? That is imaginary OP, right? You're not too lazy and moronic to change a cable, right?
The ones i already have
>PSone
>XBOX
>PS2
>Genesis
ones i'd get
>PC Engine
>Gamecube/Wii
>N64
>Saturn
Besides, wouldn't you have to change the cables anyways since most CRTs only have like 3 inputs?
Not if you have a matrix switcher with 8 inputs
This seems like such a stupid limitation but
Neogeo
Genesis
Snes
Saturn
Dreamcast
PS1
PS2
Gamecube
NES
SNES
N64
GCN
GB
GBC
GBA
Virtual Boy
I don't even have eight consoles. There aren't even five I'd give a shit about keeping hooked up. Just a Dreamcast and a PS2 would do me fine.
Not really retro but tendies should remember that the Nintendo Wii can play GC games and emulates N64, SNES and NES games for free
>8-input composite switcher
>3-input component switcher
>4-input S-video splitter
Those go into one CRT, audio out goes to my tube amp next to my record player
>4-input HDMI splitter
>4-input AV receiver
Tube amp plugs into first AV spot, audio out for my projector goes into the second AV spot. Second HDMI slot on the projector has a Chromecast.

Fricking moron.
SMS
SNES
N64
PS2
Even without backwards compatibility, 8 is more than anyone needs:
>Xbox
>Dreamcast
>PSX
>PS2
>SNES
>GameCube
>N64
>GBA
GameCube
Genesis
Saturn
DreamCast
SNES
PS1
PS2
Gameboy Advance
>FC
>SFC
>MD
>PS
>Saturn
>Dreamcast
>PS2
>GC+GBP
Alternatively, take out the GC and leave an empty spot with a few different types of wires so that I can quickly swap it out for N64 or PCE or whatever else.
You now have room for only SEVEN (7) consoles. Which one do you cut?
NES
SNES
PS2
GBA
You pretty much cover everything with these. Rest is just addition.
Genesis would obviously be the first additional console.
Xbox for best graphics
GameCube or N64 or Saturn not sure which one to leave out maybe Saturn
8 is too much you can cover every system with backwards compatibility.
Tastes vary, I would take the Genesis over a SNES any day. I had both, but in the end I had far more Genesis games than SNES ones, there were just more that appealed to me.
Of course, I prefer SNES, but SNES vs Genesis was the only gen with no definitive winner.
It's PS2 and GBA destroys the argument because of backwards compatibility. Backwards compatibility needs to be disabled for this question to make sense.
NES
SNES
Genesis
TurboGrafx-16
Nintendo 64
Saturn
Gameboy Advance
PlayStation 2
>You can only have EIGHT (8) retro consoles
Can't you read?
That's my question to you. Why did you only quote the first seven words of his post? Is that only how far you got?
I disagree with the whole notion of winners in some sort of console war in general but particularly "definitive winner" especially over 5th gen. If you say either PS1 or N64 was the "definitive winner" of that gen it's bound to trigger half the board into having a fit. GBA do even fir what OP was asking about.
>A total of 7,918 PlayStation games have been released worldwide
>There are 388[a] games
I get what you're saying overall, but well PS1 really oversold competition. Yes There are a lot of shovelware on PlayStation, still.
While it might not be as good as Mario 64, Crash trilogy and Spyro trilogies do exist. It's got way more games overall.
4th generation is a really unique case. It doesn't have that much ports, and on the cases of ports, they don't even work out great. Vast majority aren't of them aren't enjoyable to me on SNES. Where as on Genesis they are actually fun.
Even from third parties you basically have different games specifically built for that system.
>You can only have EIGHT (8) retro consoles in your setup.
What don't you understand in that sentence? If you have an issue with how the original post is formulated, that's not our problem. That's yours. Complain to OP.
Again, why do you only quote half his sentence? Are you really so stupid you can't read more than seven words in a row?
Half sentence? There is a point in what I quoted. Do you know what is a sentence?
>You can have more, but then you'd have to switch out the cables and it's a hassle and you don't want to deal with it.
So you're legit just illiterate, okay.
>If you have an issue with how the original post is formulated, that's not our problem. That's yours. Complain to OP.
Seriously.
I only need 3

Honestly, just the PS2, since it can play PS1 games and also have very nice collections of previous generation games like Atari Anthology and Mega Man Anniversary.
PS2
