Because of the sort of responses you see in this thread. Fromsoft obviously knows that their fanbase contains a lot of masochistic tryhards and balancing the game around optional buffs gives those people an outlet for their dick measuring.
Yeah, i got a feeling the enemy stats scales with your level, because my friend that went in with 35 vigor sub 100 level character is having the same experience getting 2-3 shotted by everything, if it’s not scaled he would be atomized if he was getting the same damage that 2-3 shot killed my 2k+ hp character

Haven’t had a chance to play dlc yet. Do your regular levels not matter at all?
They do, but literally everything in the DLC hits like a high speed truck so you're supposed to use as many of those as you can find.

There's no point in holding back because of a softcap when enemies hit you with thousands of damage
