This, Link pushed himself AND the sword too far last time, it makes sense that Fi would be like "frick this, if you don't get your shit together I'm taking your sword privileges away until you learn respect".

Haven't played BOTW, what's up with the MS having durability? If you break, do you have to go get a new one, or is it gone forever?
Seems really silly for a mystical weapon like that.

it goes on cooldown for like 20 minutes

Its infinite. You can break it and it will just come back. As you progress you will find stronger and stronger weapons and they will become more common, to the point where eventually you will find gannon killing weapons casually.

        >weapons stronger than the master sword
this is fricking stupid thanks for the warning to never play this game

          Anonymous

I didnt specifically mention weapons stronger than the master sword. The master sword against randos has 30 attack, while against bosses it has 60, which is hard to achieve with other weapons. If you really want a reason to not play you should think about the infinite full heal foods you can make, plus the free, consistently charging full heal + 4 extra hearts revive.

Haven’t played botw yet, is there stronger weapons than the Master Sword in the game?

You can find a silver lynel bow with a 5 shot modifier. There is nothing stronger than that.

Still the best sword in the game. Beefed up it hits for 60 damage and can do 188 hits before going on cooldown. It's attack power is only exceeded by a two two-handed weapons and those don't come even close to the master sword's durability.

          Anonymous

The Biggoron sword in OoT was stronger than the Master Sword. In BotW the Master Sword has a default power of 30, but it amps up to 60 against guardians and Ganon. You can also further upgrade the sword permanently by completing the Master Challenge.

            Anonymous

Yeah, because it was ONE WEAPON that took a shitload of effort to make, wasn't magical, and you couldn't shield with it. One or two weapons like that in this game would have been fine. Probably expected, actually, given the dire timeline.

              Anonymous

The Master Sword is still the best weapon in the game against the most dangerous enemies and bosses. 60 base damage when amped, sword lasers, and 188 hits before it goes to sleep for 20 minutes. You might argue one of the two handed weapons with the spin to win is stronger, and you're probably not wrong, but that says more about the spin attack being overpowered, rather than the weapons.

Been warning ya for a while. Like, since before the game came out.

Pray that BotW2 gets its shit together.

I hopes botw2 doubles down on breakable items go to see the defenses people come up for it. EClithes and the glider should break too

              Anonymous

BotW has a lot of shit to get together beyond an unfitting weapon durability system. It takes one step forward, but then two or more steps back.

You might get your wish, though, seeing as how Nintendo is leaning into memes for the Mario movie, Iizuka leaned into the edge on Infinite and OC's in Sonic Forces, and of course CHAOS' MP3 PLAYER HAS NOTHING BUT TOOL.

The state of gaming is pre-crash. It's now definitely coming. The only thing to wait and see is if the shit is purged and it rises like a phoenix, or if it just does and gives way to PC/mobile.

the strongest 1handed weapons are in the upper 90s early 100s for damage so the master sword's just a glorified stick outside of very specific cases. 2handed weapons can hit about 4x the damage and their spin2win attack is way better than most other attacks

      Anonymous

Yeah, the Master Sword is honestly pretty bad compared to other weapons. The best part about it is that it has infinite durability, so it ends up being your default for exploring so that you can pull out your super good weapons on bosses and stuff.

What do you think will be shown at this year's VGA? Not holding my breath for a release date, obviously, but I'm certain that they'll show off at least 10-15 minutes of gameplay like they did in 2014.
Any chances there'll be a belated 35th anniversary Zelda Direct?

Ill never understand the item durability in this game. It was never an issue but it did feel bad. I could get if some weapons you could pick up and use for a short time but not having a true backup perma weapon was odd. Not sure why we couldnt have a few swords that didnt degrade. Only bigger issue I had with the game was the dungeons frickin sucked. And no having 100 mini dungeons with like a a third being a fight against 1 robot doesnt make up for it.

Yeah, I agree, maybe they could have used wooden tier, rusted tier to break, but make it so that iron/steel/magical ones had a long durability. I'm not telling to make them unbreakable, but have a really long durability, so you'd need to visit a blacksmith with some materials to restore them or even give magical properties. It would make the resource collecting much more meaniful. Also the MS should have been unbreakable but weaker.

Durability is ok, but it needs to be coupled with a repair and crafting system.
