knowing next to nothing about guns, that gun looks like it is going to fly out his hand, and hit his face the moment he fires it because the grip is directly below the barrel, and makes a 90 degree angle.
I double checked google, but most of the ones I'm looking at extend behind the barrel, and curve downward. I assume it causes the force of the shot to go into your arm, rather than have it go straight down. the recoil from that gun should send it flying at his face. I guess it doesn't matter as it's just irrelevant autism.
It will probably make it more comfortable to hold, but the force will still go above your arm. It's not a big deal if you're an experienced shooter and the caliber isn't too ridiculous. Otherwise, something like this will happen:
(I don't hate women, it's just a classic video IMO.)
I'm playing through the first right now, going to play the whole >trilogy. It's nice. The spooks are not super imaginative so far, but the combat is actually pretty fun.
There's not enough atmosphere building. I'd mention System Shock 2 since according to rumors DS1 was supposed to be SS3 - I find that game much spookier since the concept of hybrids actually retaining something of their identity is more terrifying than zombie mutants. Hearing them yell stuff like RUN AWAY or mutter some bullshit like "A thousand eyes look" made for some cool atmosphere. DS feels a bit bland so far, though I enjoy the cult angle.
On other hand, the combat is so much better realized than SS2 combat. The animations, sounds, weapons, enemies. I'm going to upgrade my line gun and have a beam literally corridor wide and then I'm going to find a bunch of Necromorphs and leg them all in one shot. That'll be sweet.
Played through the first one a second time (first was like a decade ago or something). Pretty good game brought down by some very janky enemy spawns at times and all weapons other than the plasma cutter, pulse rifle and contact beam being total fricking garbage in comparison, acting essentially as noob traps.
Saving my first playthrough of DS2 for after I'm done with Thief.
decent series with cool lore, held back by going too over the top with the "action" elements, hardly scary at all, it had it's spooky moments but that's it, after a while you can tell when monsters are going to attack you and it just gets tedious
even though 2 is considered to be more action focused I liked it more as it felt more fleshed out and isaac wasn't fricking mute the whole time
I dropped the DS3 though, felt really janky and the delivery of the plot just killed the atmosphere for me, as if it was some very cheap movie sequel
Anyone else thinks 3 is a bit underrated or that at least it has some redeeming qualities? Obviously first 2 are best, but I recently bought the whole collection and thought maybe there might be some merit in 3rd one (the co-op maybe isn't that bad?). At least the DLC in 3rd one had a nice premise with the cult and whatnot..
It has some nice ideas, but then it loses itself a lot.
Honestly the co-op only missions are probably the best parts of the game in my opinion. Simply because it plays heavily with each player having a different view of the world.
First starting real simple and subtle that the players themselves won't comment on it, but then racking it up to crazy levels as the game progresses.
I'd love to see a game that leans in hard on that type of mechanic fully.
>the co-op only missions are probably the best parts of the game
I still remember when I shoot all over the area like maniac while yelling and my friend just asked me if I'm okay. Fun moments
What's frustrating about 3 is that there's genuinely good ideas. The crafting is neat and I like the brother moons being the ultimate purpose of the markers.
The audio design in the first games is some of the worst shit I've ever heard in a video game. The action sequences are just an incomprehensibe fricking mess of noise that is less tension building and more migraine inducing. Literally had to take off my headphones periodically just to get some rest.
Just lower the volume? Generally in DS1 I can using sound alone know the direction from where the enemy is coming and also to an extent a specific type of enemy. This is good. The ambient is great and creepy too. All guns sound punchy and powerful, even the ones you don't expect too, like Pulse Rifle.
It's not about the volume, it's the fact that it's all a fricking mess. The extreme mysical stings when fighting starts, the non-stop cookie monster slobbering from the necros, the absolutely awful mastering of audio pevels that makes you kicking or running over a limb of a fallen necro or reloading just as loud as your gun shots, etc.
There's just so much fricking sound going on at once, all of the time, and all of it not only super loud but also with terrible, flat mastering makes the whole thing unbearable. idk what the experience is like with speakers but playing with headphones is pure suffering.
I'm not an audio guy, works for me. Not to dismiss your experience, though, evne if most of what you said is incomprehensible for me. I never had the ear for fine music or such subtleties.
I didn't say anything technical. Audio levels refers to the dynamics as in, generally in real life and in video games where the audio engineers aren't total fricking morons, you stepping over a crunchy autumn leaf and firing a naval cannon would be at completely different levels in terms of decibels. In Dead Space, not so much. Extreme amount of sound sources during every fight + everything being equally loud = ear rape.
Yeah I know what you mean. I was playing System Shock 1 recently and in comparison to Dead Space there's lots of breathing with silence. Turn the music in that game off and you hardly hear stuff.
Never finished DS3 and I never intend to. For all I care, the series ended with 2. Not playing a Dead Space game with universal ammo, dodging mechanics and cover shooting. I see anons say its underrated and I'm happy you got some enjoyment out of it. That game doesn't exist to me
I don't even get why they didn't just make Ellie the co-op partner. Going off Dead Space 2 ending alone that was the most logical progression for a co-op Dead Space. I guess DS3 would rather cuck Isaac.
I love how Ganker's opinion of three is entirely based off the 12 minute intro level with the cultist enemies and you can clearly tell they haven't played any of it before giving an opinion.
Nah the game is blatantly made to have the player b line straight through everything and not take anything in, the other games had great atmosphere, they fricked up by making this a multiplayer game and have the encounters and levels designed for such.
If you ever play them again, listen to the sound design of all the games and the levels, 3 is like a completely different game. The mood is completely gone. Its like going from RE4 to RE6, where there is no atmosphere or time to get spooked by the great environment design. I wouyld honestly recommend playing these game again with just one change, turn off the music, they did an amazing job with teh spacial sound and enemy noises, and the music can very often ruin it.
I've played the entirety of DS3 before. I think besides some key moments DS3 is just forgettable. To be fair I haven't really replayed DS3 like I have DS1 and DS2.
>Playing DS3 as Carver >Constantly laugh at the crazy bullshit they do in cutscenes to show he's there too
My personal favorite is early on in the snow planet, Issac falls down a cliff with the camera entirely focused on him.
Then right at the end you see Carver in the background bounce down too like he's saying "I'm here too!"
Only the first one is decent
thata weird considering 2 is better than 1
Ye.
Glad to hear that.
knowing next to nothing about guns, that gun looks like it is going to fly out his hand, and hit his face the moment he fires it because the grip is directly below the barrel, and makes a 90 degree angle.
>the grip is directly below the barrel, and makes a 90 degree angle
That's most revolvers for you.

The second one is the best
Wrong
your opinion? yeah I agree
Third one is poggers
I'm playing through the first right now, going to play the whole >trilogy. It's nice. The spooks are not super imaginative so far, but the combat is actually pretty fun.
the games all have a good horror setting but yeah they arn't actually scary beyond one or two segments
There's not enough atmosphere building. Been playing and enjoying 3. Annoying that you can't skip cutscenes and I also hate those skinny enemy types.
First one is a classic, 2 is generic cinematic action game, 3 is shit.
1>2>>>>3
the characters were written more lazily each time
is dead jim
>you want me to go and kill all my fellow soldiers and then myself? sure thing sir!
Its a fantastic series barring EA getting over involved in 3.
Played through the first one a second time (first was like a decade ago or something). Pretty good game brought down by some very janky enemy spawns at times and all weapons other than the plasma cutter, pulse rifle and contact beam being total fricking garbage in comparison, acting essentially as noob traps.

>Dead Space Remake
>Callisto Protocol
>Negative Atmosphere
I'm looking forward to playing more Dead Space.
Even Bucklell is disgusted by this display.
Poor Isaac

Brother Moons are cool but they should have never spoken to Isaac directly.
I see. I hope this won't ruin the game for me next time I'm playing it!

3 >1 > 2
Don't reply to me.
I love 1 and 2. 3 is an abomination that I refuse to acknowledge the existence of
Carver wasn't too bad but I really wish Ellie was the co-op partner in Dead Space Three. It couldn't have been that hard to make a new model.
I don't even get why they didn't just make Ellie the co-op partner. Going off Dead Space 2 ending alone that was the most logical progression for a co-op Dead Space. I guess DS3 would rather cuck Isaac.
Because you're not an epic gamer boy who doesn't want to play as a female character. It's bad out there, anon.
1 & 2 are perfection, 3's gun customization was wacky bullshit fun but the rest can frick off
I love how Ganker's opinion of three is entirely based off the 12 minute intro level with the cultist enemies and you can clearly tell they haven't played any of it before giving an opinion.

No
Horror games are spooky and cause nightmares
Dead Space 3 wasnt bad.
People who think DS3 and RE6 are bad games are legit mentally ill.
Anon, just because you liked it doesnt mean it was good. Would you take more Dead Space games like 1 and 2, or more like 3.
3, don't even have to think about it.
I take it you also like Silent Hill Homecoming?
