>you will never be an indie dev in the 2010s making babby's first fourth wall break games
>you will never rake in easy money from easily impressed zoomers to whom it's the first exposure to the concept
Damn what a missed opportunity, what's the next indie money train to look out for?
runescape
how so
profit off of autistic losers who like watching number go up
but that's not as easy to get started and bait people out since everyone's making them
>everyone is making a runescape
Everyone's making exploitative numbers go up games, how is an indie game supposed to compete with Diablo
Undertale is millennial
Made by a millennial for a zoomer audience
Most of its fans back in 2015 were millennials, and the game is meant to make millennials nostalgic. There is nothing more millennial than Undertale.
That is plainly incorrect, are you a millennial that feels ashamed for liking a zoomer game by any chance?
If you weren't still in middle school back in 2015, you'd know that most of its audience weren't 15 year olds. All you have to do is look at old Tumblr and Reddit posts from 2015 and you can see millennials represented the majority of Undertale fans.
Alot of Homestuckers were in college at the time Undertale released. You'll be surprised at how many there are.
this would be so ineffective as bait that I have to assume you genuinely believe this
how does a game meant to evoke nostalgia for early 2000s RPG maker walking simulators appeal to a generation that wasn't born yet
So millennials ashamed that they like a zoomer game, okay
What an insecure homosexual you are.
I was 24 when Undertale came out and I loved it
That's because you are a homosexual.
have a nice day you sons of b***hes.
>undertale is meant to evoke nostalgia for early 2000s RPG maker walking simulators
It's more meant to evoke nostalgia for Earthbound (a Gen X game), Touhou, and Moon: Remix RPG Adventure (both millennial games). The point is zoomers wouldn't get much from the nostalgic side of it unless they grew up on hand-me-downs.
And neither would millennials, so what's your argument again?
all posts mentioning generations are beat
>calling moon a millennial game
you have to be over eighteen to post here, zoomer
Lots of zoomers like it (however lots only watched it via streamers or yt). It has a lot to offer if you think its funny and the game does stand up on its own. Like some cancerous yt letsplayers or animations have 10m+ views and generally speaking its mainly preteens that consume that content
>early 2000s
>zoomers weren't born yet
zoom zoom, moron.
I don't think it's a generational thing, I think it's an aspbergers thing.
Soul vs Soulless
one is owned by some western lady and the other is just a dream
>one is owned by some western lady and the other is just a dream
Elaborate
Toby fox gave the rights to whoever drew these pics back in early november 2015
what the frick are you talking about
nothing important because truth hurts.
cope
arrest yourself
I love you arrestgay, please never change. You and nutriments Black person bring me great joy.
i hate you criminal, please never live, You and your crime list prevents your parole granted.
Not even remotely in the same league, basically
Zoomers are more likely to worship Undertale as a masterpiece than Millennials who are more familiar with its references
It can be both, you know
le quirky Playstation low poly platform games about furry homosexuals
Metroidvanias have been around forever and idiots still buy those.
You missed AmongE & Vampire Survivors and their 200 clones.
Indie souls-like game is the nex...wait hollow knight already happened
both of these are shit
one is made by a guy that made deltaShit which is proof he can't make games
the other is by a weeb that makes a free twitch extension
DDLC would be better if that dude was a weeb
man does not know shit about VNs
he is a weeb though
i think his favorite vn is tsukihime
Except they both did insanely well and people love them. They're not shit. There are plenty of genre defining indie games that have yet to be made, it's just that no one on here is clever enough to think if them and make them. The people who made these games were and were the first to do it well. Anyone who b***hes about these games is just coping.
Being popular is not genre defining. The whole breaking the 4th wall thing is more of a cute gimmick but the more you do it, the more stale it will get. You don't really see anybody else doing it and the attempts aren't good. Undertale and DDLC isn't "shit", but it's nothing special other than a very interesting gimmick that worked for that specific time period. The next FotM's don't even break the 4th wall, one is some shitty DDR clone and the other is a game that took 3 years after it came out to be what it is today. Call of Duty isn't a good game because it's popular, but Undertale isn't "ground breaking" because it's popular. BotW came out nearly a decade after Open World become popular, give it 3 more years for Nintendo to make some meta game and then we'll be back at square one with everyone saying Nintendo made it popular.
It's funny how western indie games are most successful when they pretend to be Japanese, yet at the same the fanbase for these games are always seething about Japan.
>the fanbase for these games are always seething about Japan.
Proof?
Holy shit I ain't reading all that but you're right
Oh I thought it would be him complaining about something in Undertale being problematic or something
These people are unwell
>It's funny how western indie games are most successful when they pretend to be Japanese, yet at the same the fanbase for these games are always seething about Japan.
Even funnier in that both UT and DDLC are popular in Japan
>you will never rake in easy money
Stop being a jealous moron.
make your game easy to mod. that way your fanbase can make your game for you and all you need to do is say you're going to finish it in 5 years and rake in those sweet sweet kickstarterbux
its not really a missed oppurtunity when you can do it again in 10-15 years for the nu-zoomers
These games are trash with barely any gameplay. I've tried to get into shittale like 3 times you literally have to have an iq below 80 and heavily use reddit to be able to play this. No thanks I'll stick to factorio.
true
>Damn what a missed opportunity
Hollow knight was 2017 and sold 3+ million.
>what's the next indie money train to look out for?
the games in your pic never tried to be a cashgrab, maybe you should reconsider your weird attitude towards gamedev
Undertale was literally made so Toby could fund work on Deltarune, DDLC was a lazy ripoff of a Gravity Falls episode
You don't know what a cash grab is
>Undertale was literally made so Toby could fund work on Deltarune
Not necessarily. He claimed to make it so he could "prove to himself" that he could make a game, and if that game [Undertale] was enough of a hit, he'd make his literal fever dream game [Deltarune] combining some ideas from Undertale. It just so happened to sell like hotcakes, be insanely popular and become a massive cash cow, which allowed Toby to fund a team for Deltarune.
I ain't reading that, go back.
you cant read a paragraph?
Maybe you should go back, too. All the way back to elementary school.
Holy based
joke's on you, he cant read more than 6 words
>I ain't reading that, go back.
the author literally did not know gravity falls was a thing, he doesnt watch western animation anymore
Toby wasn't sure on Deltarune for a while, like if Undertale did well he would maybe do it sort of deal, he's definitely trying to evolve the Undertale series to have lots of merch now that it succeeded, like Deltarune for example has that scene with butler Ralsei just so he could sell another plush of him
>undertale
>4th wall break games
?
Depression walking simulators. Those are selling like hotcakes with zoomers. Just have a quricky art style
If you're a millennial and think Undertale is good you might be developmentally delayed.
There's a total of ONE fourth wall breaks in the actual story content of the original release of Undertale.
And it explicitly makes fun of people who watch videos of games rather than actually playing them.
Doki Doki Literature Club was a """""""""""""""""""""""""""""game"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" that was meant to be the playable teaser for an actual game that was GOING to release and Team Salvato completely bailed on that.

Which was it?
Brief line, fairly late in the genocide run intended for people quickly scraping the worst and best possible runs.
Do you have a screenshot?
?t=298
Best I can offer you.
This feels like a stretch, but I can see where it makes sense
>Doki Doki Literature Club was a """""""""""""""""""""""""""""game"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" that was meant to be the playable teaser for an actual game that was GOING to release and Team Salvato completely bailed on that.
shame but not surprising. TBF you can't follow up the "self aware u-turn visual novel" schtick with a more serious game without people getting upset
It's not something I ever wanted to do. All I can hope is the next money train makes giant boobs popular.
People who play VNs are moronic. No surprises there.
>undertale
>baby's first fourth wall break
???
