FF6 has the magicite system which is quite bad and you are only allowed to customize your party once you're past the first third, and the magicite turn all your characters into the same fighter functionaly as you have no incentive to not have all the skills on all the characters.
Also the Opera, Ultros are terribly cringy.

Nah, not really. It’s the same with every medium. People always have the “back in my day we had REAL (media here) like (their favorite here)” mentality when they age. I’d recommend the Razbuten video on the topic, it really hits close to home.
also that’s not a bad thing btw. Having old favorites is fine. It’s not JUST nostalgia but it’s a significant part of it along side personal taste.
I think also it feels like things you play as an adult do not make as much as an impact. A lot of games I played younger I can vividly remember but stuff I completely forget about things I played recently, or at least don't really think back on them

Why are the dungeons in A Link to the Past so horrible? Replayed the game recently and realized how short and low quality the first few dungeons are.
Well back then they were hot shit. If you are used to labyrinthian dungeons from Souls or new Zelda games, of course they might seem primitive.
