RDR1 has the most generic western story paired with the most generic silent "cool" passive aggressive protagonist out there and I have no idea why people liked John so much. He feels like a fricking gay porn caricature of a cowboy at times. On top of that, the whole story revolves around him being an errand boy for the glowies like a gay that he is and getting cucked in the end.
Fricking hell, it really took Dan Houser almost two decades to learn how to write non-errand boy characters. Almost every game that he touches is basically one of those 3 tropes

I could never finish RDR2. Quit after getting to the new camp. Is it worth continuing? What killed the game to me was, specifically, how all forms of progression are gated behind hunting perfect quality pelts. MULTIPLE OF THEM EVEN. Jesus christ it is so fricking hard to hunt that. Like, after 20 hours of gameplay of which half were spent trying to hunt, I still could only get 1 perfect pelt of skunk (which isn't even a resource for any upgrade). The frick is wrong with this game?
