How can Adol compete with these numbers?
Good games for the gameplay, but I hate the fact nothing really carries over between titles and as a result Adol has 30 years of nondevelopment.
My problem is that they are trying to have a lot of dialogue which interrupts the gameplay. Does anybody care about the lore when shit doesn't really matter after you beat the game? The end of Ys VIII was the biggest slap on the face.

When he is by himself and wearing his traditional armor, then his games are kino. When he is wearing some kiseki knock off outfit and traveling with a party, then the game is crap.
I think they're a lot of fun, and I like how relatively lighthearted they are.

I got IX on release and still haven’t finished it.
I enjoyed Dana but something about IX is just so incredibly dull. The story is kind of interesting but I have a feeling the payoff won't actually be worth it. And the city is just so bland.

They are going for the Isekai audience with those designs. Same with the characters in the "trails" series. It's extremely cheap and easy to make art in that style.
