Why doesn't konami do multiple rarity printings per set like Pokemon? Pokemon lets the collectors chase the full alternate arts and the players that just care about the effects can chase the lower rarity. Everyone wins. I know pokemon moves about twice the product as yugioh. Is that why? Can they afford to basically give cards away because of how much product gets moved by whales chasing the alt arts?

Farfa told them these cards were bad (probably to prep them for this banlist) so they're all excited without realizing that the gulf between what konami wants to be meta and what they don't care about just widened by a shit load.
Because when Snake Eyes dies every combo deck goes back to making Baronne and Savage, they don't need to be around at all and there's a game beyond the current best deck.
Banning Savage and Baronne, are hits to the generic support that pure Snake Eyes uses to create oppressive endboards and the Linkuriboh hit hurts both of them. Fire King Snake-Eyes is definitely the best version of the deck, and I'd argue that it does mean teching against it is way easier since what hurts FKSE is pretty different than what hurts Pure SE.
What I think is also under discussed is that a lot of really annoying floodgates have been making their way on to the banlist, particularly in a BO3 context. Really powerful side-board cards like Summon Limit and Anti-spell meant that if you went first in games 2 or 3 and drew them, you basically won immediately. It's a really nice quality of life change that the meta really needed. Finally, I think that some of the cards coming off the list were pretty overdue, stuff like Engage, Harp Horror, Kirin, etc and honestly my only issue is that they didn't go far enough. I would've loved to see something like an Unchained unhit, or more Purrley cards coming back. Konami doesn't want to ban new cards but decks like Unchained, Purrley, or R-Ace might've been able to compete with FKSE. As it stands the meta is going to be fire dominated for a while but Konami in both the OCG, TCG, and Master Duel dislikes banning new cards so this was probably as good as it was gonna get. Which is unfortunate.
This is just a pre-cursor to semi-generics. Toadally Awesome will come back. There will be a new Baronne that requires a wind tuner, an earth ED monster that summons an earth token will release making Barkion a tech option for all earth decks. Prisoner Princess will never be banned. Zombies will get an omni synchro that summons using GY material. zombies will never get another starter or extender though Insects will NOT get a boss monster. Chaos Angel will be retroactively viewed as part of this new pantheon of generic bosses. JK it's TCG shit the game won't be balanced around this.

The last time Malicious was semi'd it was because there was this dark warrior/Orchust link pile that would spam out a million materials and end on Apo/Tri-gate/Knightmares and possibly U-Link you but that deck abused Isolde which is now banned in the TCG. Isolde would summon Armageddon Knight which would dump Mali and then you'd use Mali to get all the link material you wanted but again, Isolde is banned. Armageddon Knight is now semi-limited but it's a normal summon that gets beaten by Ash Blossom and has no inherent extension (Such as Fire Flint or Renaud) now that Isolde is gone. It raises the ceiling on HERO I guess but who gives a frick it's HERO.

Many times we often copy or work around a card ban and it ends up being very similar in many ways to the OCG. Master Duel keks are telling themselves it’s not gonna happen are in for a big surprise.
Trying to judge the MD format off a TCG list is peak moron actually. At least if it's an OCG list then yeah, you can see how they would effect it but MD's list is just too radically different from TCG to base it off of.
That said I expect we'll get a Linkurbio ban as well. I'm a little skeptical on Baronne but the more I think about it, the more excited long-term I get. I do hope they hit some of the going second staples though if we're completely getting rid of generics.

Banning Savage and Baronne, are hits to the generic support that pure Snake Eyes uses to create oppressive endboards and the Linkuriboh hit hurts both of them. Fire King Snake-Eyes is definitely the best version of the deck, and I'd argue that it does mean teching against it is way easier since what hurts FKSE is pretty different than what hurts Pure SE.
What I think is also under discussed is that a lot of really annoying floodgates have been making their way on to the banlist, particularly in a BO3 context. Really powerful side-board cards like Summon Limit and Anti-spell meant that if you went first in games 2 or 3 and drew them, you basically won immediately. It's a really nice quality of life change that the meta really needed. Finally, I think that some of the cards coming off the list were pretty overdue, stuff like Engage, Harp Horror, Kirin, etc and honestly my only issue is that they didn't go far enough. I would've loved to see something like an Unchained unhit, or more Purrley cards coming back. Konami doesn't want to ban new cards but decks like Unchained, Purrley, or R-Ace might've been able to compete with FKSE. As it stands the meta is going to be fire dominated for a while but Konami in both the OCG, TCG, and Master Duel dislikes banning new cards so this was probably as good as it was gonna get. Which is unfortunate.

This is just a pre-cursor to semi-generics. Toadally Awesome will come back. There will be a new Baronne that requires a wind tuner, an earth ED monster that summons an earth token will release making Barkion a tech option for all earth decks. Prisoner Princess will never be banned. Zombies will get an omni synchro that summons using GY material. zombies will never get another starter or extender though Insects will NOT get a boss monster. Chaos Angel will be retroactively viewed as part of this new pantheon of generic bosses.

The last time Malicious was semi'd it was because there was this dark warrior/Orchust link pile that would spam out a million materials and end on Apo/Tri-gate/Knightmares and possibly U-Link you but that deck abused Isolde which is now banned in the TCG. Isolde would summon Armageddon Knight which would dump Mali and then you'd use Mali to get all the link material you wanted but again, Isolde is banned. Armageddon Knight is now semi-limited but it's a normal summon that gets beaten by Ash Blossom and has no inherent extension (Such as Fire Flint or Renaud) now that Isolde is gone. It raises the ceiling on HERO I guess but who gives a frick it's HERO.

It is. I started grinding with PUNK gold pride, but I couldn't even get out of diamond 5. Too fragile and you can't play enough handtraps on the snake-eyes format

Many times we often copy or work around a card ban and it ends up being very similar in many ways to the OCG. Master Duel keks are telling themselves it’s not gonna happen are in for a big surprise.
Trying to judge the MD format off a TCG list is peak moron actually. At least if it's an OCG list then yeah, you can see how they would effect it but MD's list is just too radically different from TCG to base it off of.
That said I expect we'll get a Linkurbio ban as well. I'm a little skeptical on Baronne but the more I think about it, the more excited long-term I get. I do hope they hit some of the going second staples though if we're completely getting rid of generics.
