for a console it is 🙂
PC can't even run Fortnite at 60 Black person
lol Where did you get this screenshot from? I'm actually incredibly amused.
>console cope knows no bounds
>artificially cap frames to 60 on pc
>run around until you find one spot where it dips to 52 for a second
>gpu not cited so probably running on integrated intel graphics on a laptop purchased from walmart for $499
kek
Or perhaps PC just isn't meant for vidya.
Nope. You're moronic.
>PS5 is the equivalent of RX 570
lmao you can get this card used for $50 here, it probably depends on the game but i'd believe it.
what even is the point of buying this shit console nowadays
>pc is a wide variety of hardware configurations
>compares as "pc"
Don't forget console, "dynamic rendering" that downscales the resolution as soon as runs into something demanding
Fricking FF7 remake needs a mod to turn this off
That means first party Sony games have that feature baked in
No its probably just standard square enix madness
Oh man, I'm yoinking that. People will ab absolutely get angry at this bait and it will be glorious.
Kek, you can also see the dip on the console side, this is great bait
>dip to 59
cope
lots of console games are still running at 1080p@30fps, so...
Its nuts how shit this generation is. Its like we went back to early PS3 and 360 tier performance of like 600p and dodgy frame rates. Jedi Survivor is around 600p upscaled to 1080p
>Its nuts how shit this generation is.
This is what happens when you let numales and women code software.
You can have all the processing power in the world and modern game devs will still find ways to make it struggle to hit 30fps at 720p while making the exact same game they released 10 years ago.
that looks like some generic open world rpg slop
in other words, why exactly should i care?
1080p tv chads, we keep winning.
i remember when sony marketed the ps3 as a 1080p console
I cant even think of a single 1080p PS3 game other than GT prologue and the Tekken 5 port I think?
Journey i think
Afrika.
Ico, SOTC and Lair
>Ico, SOTC
Those were PS2 games though. If you mean the hd collections I think they all ran at 720p as the MGS and Jak and Devil May cry ones ran at 720p.
Rayman Legends/Origins
>this again
We can either use increases in cpu and gpu power to increase frame rates, or use that power to increase graphical fidelity. This generation has opted for graphical fidelity. We could've stayed with UE4 era visuals but gotten better framerstes with small bumps to graphics. And yes, nusoidevs are shit at optimization which is also a large part of the issue, but this doesn't change that most developers are pushing games in terms of graphical fidelity instead of pushing framerates.
But the thing is that its not really increased fidelity when the games have to run at like 600p upscaled to 1080p. Thats worse resolution than some PS3 games.
I completely agree. This is where shitty optimization practices snd using upscaling tech as a crutch has become a plague on the industry. Internal resolution of new games is laughable.
But all these games have bad performance issues.
Its stupid to jeopardies a game just so you can take still oictures of them
Outside of Jedi: Survivor, TLOUP remastered, and Redfall, what have been some of the other bad ganes at launch this year on console? PC has been cursed with shitty port after shitty port.
There is a collage of apologies from devs this year.
They all have shitty pc ports but 80% of them had problems on console too.
Though i dont have a concolse so I wouldn't know.
Most of the pc port probkems are sinply UE4 bring trash
The games now have bad resolution AND frame rate. They don't focus on either.
But the graphical fidelity hasn't increased proportionally either. Games hardly look any better than last gen.
I feel like we're just getting out of the cross gen malaise this year, so I dont expect to start see games that take full advantage of curent gen console feautes til next year anyways. Plus series S is an albatross bringing evrrything down. And a global supply chain crisis leading to a minimum number of next gen consoles being sold forced devs to cater to last gen consoles, imo.
>And a global supply chain crisis leading to a minimum number of next gen consoles being sold forced devs to cater to last gen consoles, imo.
Peole keep saying this but seem to forget that PS5 is the fastest selling console in Sony history.
>ps5 has a 40 million install base
>ps4 has a 117 million install base
It can be the fastest selling console, but that doesn't change most of Sony's customers are last gen. This is why we've seen so many cross gen games. This is why even Jedi: Survivor is getting a back port.
The Jedi game is so weird as they said the ps4 port wont be out for about a year so surely by 2024 most people interested in a game like that will have got a PS5.
This just goes to show sony has an adoption issue that'll only get worse by next gen.
Its not that the PS5 isn't on the shelves anymore. Its that no one can afford them.
The shortage is over for ps5. They won't reach the same adoption levels unless prices drop or the console lives on for 10 years like ps4.
The priced themselves out by making the ps5 twice the price of ps4.
You mentioned xbox s being the albatross but really its just not affordable.
>We could've stayed with UE4 era visuals
Visuals are a matter of technique, anyone jerking off to the version of Unreal is moronic. Knight ran on UE3.
I'm still amazed as to how awful that studio's upcoming Suicide Squad game looks in comparison to the 8 year old Arkham Knight.
They said most of the people who worked on Asylum, City and Knight no longer work there and left a few years after Knight.
In their defense, Knight ran on a modified version of UE3 and they used it over the course of like 8 years. And I'm pretty sure part of their licensing agreement with Epic demands that they use the latest version of Unreal for new games.
M
Lol. So your saying they improved UE3 to a point it looked an ran better than EU4 and were still forced to move on.
Sad
Visuals come down to what the developer wants, their technique and experience with the engine. But Epic needs more games on UE5 to push it onto developers.
The future is now, old man.
1080P@60fps is perfect.
have a nice day for buying into the 4k hdr israelite meme
Its not real 1080p though. They said its upscaled to 1080p from like 600p or 720p
>1080P@60fps is perfect.
agreed, but that's still a personal preference
when you think about it, 2 and a half generations ago games on consoles could run at 720p 60fps and a few select ones achieved native 1080p.
in that context, current gen consoles struggling to mantain 60fps at 1080p to the point they have to resort to running the game at BELOW 720p and then upscale to 1080p(all while the console is marketed as 4K capable, while 4K televisions have become the defacto standard) is truly laughable
>just bruteforce it with high end parts already you poorgay!
>optimization? what the frick is that?
Wait until we hit the 2030s where the standards will have dropped back to 480p for low end stability and the storage sizes are capping out at 1TB min.
Storage requirements are based on consoles having slow as frick HDDs so they duplicate textures are across levels to speed up load times (sequential reading).
There will be no need for optimization in the future as raytracing and nanite *are* the end game. Lighting will stop taking up any memory on the hard drive as it's all generated during runtime as needed.
> he doesn't even realize that baked light maps take up memory
How many gigabytes do you think all those perfect resolution baked shadows take up?
And best part, all these technologies scale simply based on some parameters in an ini file. Games that start supporting path tracing will get automatic lighting upgrades 10 years from now because you can just increase the number of rays per pixel as well as number of bounces.
Only for good developers. I guarantee you, we will see developers ramming 1mil+ tri nanite assets into their engines, maxing out Lumen AO/Bounce settings and then wonder why their game is huge for storage space AND VRAM usage.
Don't care about what a poorgay thinks
Storage maxxing is the new meta. The user can't play other vidya if your product is taking up all the space. Pair this with a liveservice model and they won't go anywhere else for their fix.
I hope we get the surge 3
Wrong dev studio, anon. Deck 13 recently made Atlas Fallen.
At this point I'm expecting FF7 Remake part 2 to not even run at 60fps like part 1 does on PS5 as part 1 was cross gen. Even though part 2 look basically the same as part 1.
I don't even think you can buy 1080p teles anymore. If you go into a place like currys or something they only sell 4k teles.
idk how it is in bongworld or wherever but you can still get ~1080p TVs here in burgerland. In fact most people I know have 720p TVs.
>I don't even think you can buy 1080p teles anymore.
This is gonna suck when my old telly finally kicks the bucket. Don't intend on going above 1080p if I can help it.
>Don't intend on going above 1080p if I can help it.
4k tv will display 1080p just fine.
4K tvs are dirt cheap now.
You cant get anything above 40" that isn't 4k now.
Only the smaller tvs are still 1080p
Anon, your basic b***h 43" TV with a shitty VA panel is 4K 60Hz. The only 1080p stuff are 32" TVs or so, which are bottom tier.
What's a good tv so? I'm still using a 1080p lg 32 inch tv I got in 2019.
LG OLED, Sony Bravia, Samsung NeoQLED
Nanite and lumen were a mistake tbh
I've went back to baked lighting because performance was abysmal
Thats because you can't optimise for shit.
LOTF runs better than any modern UE4 rasterisation title, and miles better than Remnant II on PC.
it has nothing to do with my game's optimization.
It's just the reality that lumen in a default scene has anywhere from 30-50% higher cost compared to baked lighting.
And Epic's idea of optimization for lumen is to decrease resolution and attempt upscaling which looks bad.
>you're still getting >120fps
Yeah and I have a 3070/i9 and it's an empty scene.
OH GEE WHAT IS THE MAJOR DISADVANTAGE OF BAKED LIGHTING YOU ASK?
I have a 3090, will. I be able to run it at a stable 60 fps?
3090 will run LOTF easily on 4k High with DLSS. You might be able to run it at native 1440p 60fps.
wtf who do I believe
Me
>with DLSS
I fricking hate you morons that act like this isn't a massive caveat and that DLSS doesn't look like utter horseshit.
It does. But unfortunately, graphical fidelity moves up with hardware gens.
Your 680 eventually became a shit card. Your 980 eventually was a shit card. Your 1080 is becoming a low-end card and eventually, your 30 series' will also be low-end.
And this isn't due to a lack of optimisation. The technology itself is just inherently more demanding.
It's over bro should've waited for the 8090 to drop.
>2007+16
>no affordable camcorders with true 1080p/60FPS
I'm fricking mad I have to pay the price of a video game console for "industry standard." The chink garbage on Amazon doesn't count, either.
i've actually seen this game in motion running (assumedly) on a PS5 at what looked like a flawless 60fps with whilst genuinely and completely unexpectedly being one of the best looking games i've ever seen. The only flaw was a single microstutter upon transitioning into a new area
they made the right decision in sacrificing resolution
Consoles can only just now do what PC had like 15 years ago?
it will be 4k60 on PS5 pro
4K *
60 **
* 4K upscaled from 820p image reconstruction
** 45.7fps average with %1 lows down to 22fps
that's on base ps5, pro will be stronger you know
>pay $500-600 for a new playstation
>games don't look much better
>games don't run much better
>barely any exclusives
>then you get the privilege of upgrading to a pro model 4 years into its lifespan
great
I hate it
>man pouring oil down a sink.webm
I never bought the base PS5 (same with ps4, only got the pro). you only have yourself to blame
If you think PS5 pro will have a 400-500% performance increase instead of being a marginal 'upgrade' you are delusional. PS4 'pro' performance was more of the same underpowered shit when it launched. This console has to last upwards of a decade. They aren't going to release a revision with substantially more power when they need the original hardware to run the same shit with similar fidelity.
RDR2 ran on xbone at 864p but native 4k on xbone x so it's possible
>it'll be 400% stronger bro i swear
lol
lmao
People always post this but I'm guessing this is the worst case scenario and water/transparent objects tend to be performance killers.
I wonder what the average framerate/native res is for the game.
It's like posting that electric frick from Bloodborne and pretending that that is the game's average performance.
>I'm guessing this is the worst case scenario and water/transparent objects tend to be performance killers.
Correct. It's also from the pre-day1 patch version of the game.
>I wonder what the average framerate/native res is for the game.
It was pretty bad at launch but it's better now.
It's pretty cool how UE5 is just fricking horribly optimized and yet people are pushing so hard for devs to move to it.
>runs on shitty console hardware at 60fps with nanite and lumen
>horribly optimized
pick one
Because most people have no idea about game development and just saw the cool demos thinking its a magical panacea that will make game development easier and better looking. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if some people think all high fidelity games = Unreal
Wait till release since only Fortnite seems to be able to keep 60fps while Remnant couldn't while going down to 720p
I will tell you now. With full confidence, this LOTF runs better than any modern release this year, with better and more demdanding technology. Remnant II is a joke of a release. You will get a 1080p 60FPS experience on a 2060.
I like your confidence but I'm too cynical on this type of shit that until it actually releases to get the right idea, I agree that Remnant 2 was a joke of a release but LOTF is using Lumen which makes me skeptical for launch performance
>1080p60fps
More than enough for me. You guys that need 8k this and 120fps that should just get into photography because you ain't playing video games anymore.
>1440p
>Locked at 30 FPS
>Souls-like game
Disgusting.
I'll take 1080p on PS5, nonexistent on PS4 over checkerboarded 4k on PS5, 1080p on PS4. Last gen is still current gen.
A huge leap backward to 2010.
