00000 ID

I swear on everything I did not make this happen in any way, as far as I know anyway. I am playing vanilla Fire Red (clean American rom) on MyBoy! emulator. I do use cheats to encounter version exclusive mons, trade evos and such but nothing that messes with the ID number and I definitely did not activate any codes whatsoever before obtaining the starter from Oak.

Bro, it is five different numbers. The odds must be astronomical. I remember once I tried soft resetting for a shiny Cyndaquil in Crystal - did not get it, and I am guessing that would be much easier by comparison.

It is legit. I did not activate anything, did not even notice it until after I got the parcel and caught my first Pidgey. I only use encounter codes for mons that cannot be obtained in-game, and usually near the very end of the run.

Anyway, after the initial rush, I kinda feel blue now. I figure I must have used up all my luck for the remainder of my lifetime. No more opening packs for me..

      emulators don’t count

I mean, if you have the patience for it you can easily RNG it.

You’re playing on an emulator - your emulator is most likely fricking with the RNG which is why you got an ID of 00000

Perhaps, but I have been playing Gen 3 games on that same emulator (MyBoy!) for years and have never once had this happen to me. Collectively, I must have played through at least several dozen runs of Fire Red and Emerald over the years, if not hundreds. Again, I did not do anything to cause this.

If you don't have a GBA bios, the emulated formulas can get weird.

I do not really know what that is; do you mean the option in picrel? If so, yes, as far as I am aware that option has always been deactivated.

The odds are 1/100000, which is not that much.

I kind of want to see this in SV. What would happen if a Pokemon with an all 0 ID got transfered into there? Would it just be a single zero? Would it have no ID at all?

I got it once, on shining pearl. Pretty good motivation to finish that one and grab some shiny legends along the way
