this is what i don't get about japanese
is it doko ni
or doko (h)e
and why
particles confuse the frick out of me
へ denotes directionality, basically going towards some place, used with movement verbs. に emphasizes the destination or the place, it is occasionally used with movement verbs, but more often with verbs that denote existence/presence (e.g. いる、着く). で is separate, denotes the place where an action occurred. Used with action verbs.
Don't sweat it too much, unless you're actually working in Japan. This is the kind of mistake they're used to hearing from foreigners and they won't even correct you unless you ask them to. They very often make the same sort of mistake with prepositions and articles.
Bless you sir. I'm studying some Japanese before visiting with some friends for a small vacation, everything helps. Been also replaying Yakuza without the subtitles just to better absorb some things said that I've learned.
