I always shit myself playing a multiplayer match in any RTS and I don't really know why.
Starcraft was the only game that gave me ladder anxiety.
I literally couldn't press play and just skirmished vs bots.
I played League, CS, Fighting games, and Chess since then and I don't have any problem starting a game in those.
It was the only game that gave me literal cold sweats. Amazing high when you beat someone that you've predicted all the moves for and they whisper back and call you Black person.
can any of you fricking explain to me why you're such pussies?
i need to know because i'm working on an RTS and need to figure out how to get you fricking pathetic homosexuals to actually not be scared to play the fricking game.

I've been saying it in a lot of threads. Making this game so e-sport focused while registering each and ever victory and defeat was a mistake. They should let you opt-out of it and let you truncate all the data.
The ladder should also be much more simplified, like Super Smash Bros.
I played a ton of ranked in the SC2 beta and eventually settled in Gold. Fired up SC2 once it went live and jumped into my placement matches after finishing the single player campaign and I somehow won all five placement matches. I got put into Platinum and never played multiplayer again because I was so worried about being crushed.
>never played any ladder games before >never played SC before >do my placement matches >get real nervous and watch some Day 9 opener for Terran >win some games including making someone quit after sending a few marines in >get silver and never ever play ranked again
My experience exactly.
Especially that I didn't even know what units Protoss could make. The 1 match that I won was a roller coaster of emotions ."OH GOD WHAT THE FRICK DO I DO" was repeated many times, and I ended up winning by filling 3 ships with marines and sending them straight inside the enemy's main base. He couldn't even get passed his own maze of buildings and I just won.
I never touched the game again but I still watch videos of it on yt.
>I didn't even know what units Protoss could make
It's crazy, I probably played more matches in the past 2 hours than most people in this thread played their whole life.
starcraft 2 is my favourite game of all time, i always go back to it when i have nothing else to play, even if i just play team battles or arcade/direct strike
Plat is like top 30-40% of players but being better than 60% of the playerbase doesn't mean much. I want to be better than 90% of the playerbase minimum and I want to get better than that.

>I want to be better than 90% of the playerbase minimum
that's like, diamond 1, ish. > I want to get better than that.
masters is like top 5% now
it's achieveable, you just have to play really tight, especially the first like 4-5 minutes
some people with high ranks arent really good at the game, they like, learned 1-2 cheeses vs each race and just execute that build really well. if you catch them in a longer macro game, you annihilate them because they haven't practiced the full matches.
When Wings of Liberty launched I was at Diamond rank, which was the highest rank at the time. But I have not laddered seriously since they added Masters and Grand Masters. The game is very different from when I played and I have no real desire to relearn the game.
I'm one of the best if not the best players of this game that browses this entire website and I can say FRICK THIS GAME. Ladder is a macro action build order simulator. They took the S out of RTS entirely.
not my problem

StarCraft was stressful as frick

pro-tip: if the success of your rts depends upon people playing pvp your priority is already fricked up
I wish I could tell you. I had no real issues with any other MP genre.
Don't expect to be the next Starcraft. You won't be. Make a good single player campaign.
The reasons people are afraid to play Starcraft are also what makes it good. It's a stressful game.

when i got to diamond league it was like this, every match vs supreme tryhards
but at gold or silver basically nobody tried anyway so idk how anyone could have anxiety

If this is your rank, you belong on Ganker
If your rank is higher than this, you arent casual enough for Ganker and need to go back

>kellymilkies
holy shit I forgot she even existed. haven't seen this gif in at least 8 years.
I'm plat 1 and can't get out of it. Seems like there is a pretty wide skill gap between plat and diamond. Looks like I'm gunna just have to git gud.
Are you not already "good" at that level?

you're so close
this will happen to you, and it will feel good
i promise
just keep trying.
Looks like a turd cube with a copper frame surrounding it.
I started playing Brood War last christmas and I'm almost breaking into B rank 🙂
When Wings of Liberty launched I was at Diamond rank, which was the highest rank at the time. But I have not laddered seriously since they added Masters and Grand Masters. The game is very different from when I played and I have no real desire to relearn the game.

Explain it better grandmaster anon, I'm a humble silver anon.
WELCOME TO ANOTHER EPISODE OF BRONZE LEAAAAAGUE HEEEROOES
what the frick he's still making SC2 videos?
I would think he would have jumped ship like 5 years ago before becoming completely irrelevant...
>ladder up
>take break
>back at bronze
I stopped caring
