I play everything with a controller anyway, I play on a TV, I have no interest in strategy games and similar PC exclusives, and I already have something for all my emulation needs. Sure the performance isn't always great and I wish there had been a more expensive/powerful console option, but as long as they don't fall back to 30fps-only I'm alright.

Pc gaming looks like a lot of work, a lot of fiddling to make games look/run better, or upgrading your hardware that soon becomes obsolete. It looks like a constant battle with the end result; you sat upright at a computer desk playing games with a mouse and keyboard, which doesn't sound enticing to someone like myself who can get home and just fall on the sofa, turn the xbox on and play a game with no effort whatsoever, at a fraction of the price of a good pc.

You can install literally any controller on PC, and Steam makes it so you don't have to mess with any settings to get the game working. The most you need is to set up graphic settings, which at most takes five minutes if you want to get the best performance and visuals for your rig.

Only time I tinker with a game is if it's an older game that needs a patch for compatibility, or if you're trying to add mods to a game and it doesn't tell you where mod conflicts are so you have to dance around trying to isolate the issue. I only really get this in Bethesda and Sims games though.
As for hardware, you can use shit from 10 years ago and be perfectly fine. Nvidia cards haven't even been good in years, they just make the cards physically bigger and draw more power instead of actually making them better. 3090/4090 homies need a fricking STAND for their GPU

In terms of price PC gaming is better than consoles due to piracy, emulators and sales. On consoles you would need to either get used games or rely on shit like PS Plus and Game Pass.
Hacking a console is more complicated and risky than setting an emulator or downloading a torrent from a trusted website.

PC easily wins long term because there's no monthly or yearly service preventing your machine to get access to the internet you already pay for. Not only that, but easier piracy alone compensates for PC. Granted you can hack your consoles, but not all. PS4/PS5 is still somewhat recent, switch cucks you from a majority of the features like the online.
Not only that, but multiplatform games just play better on a PC if they are not from the old Nintendo with gimmicks like the wiimote motion controls. The majority of modern games including switch titles play exactly the same with a controller or keyboard no matter the hardware, their only difference being visual quality and performance.

WHY THE FRICK would anyone with a decent brain subject himself through the painful console experience? You didn't need to have 140 IQ level foresight to predict that consoles would lose this battle long term compared to PCs you could easily upgrade, at the time for very affordable costs too. BTC, crypto and chip shortages muddled the waters a bit but even despite those setbacks PC gaming still won the war, in the end. Even when the PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Series X just came out, they were already underpowered compared to top grade one year old pc builds of their time. Meanwhile, Nintendo still has a dedicated consumer fan base and niche filled with the focus given to games instead of the console itself save for portability. the game I am playing has you join lobbies of 2, 4 or 12 players and while the lobby fills up, there's not much else to do than wait, sure, you could chat with players in-game, you could play around with units in the forge, you could do trading on the marketplace, but as someone who has played the game for so long, I already own every unit and maxed them out, I don't have to do anything other than wait until I get to play, sure, there's also solo maps, but its more fun with other people

you don't need a "good" gaming pc. if you're a poorgay trying to stretch your money the furthest, a used pc from a few generations ago that you stick a mid-tier or slightly out of date gpu in will cost you about the same as a console and you'll be able to get games that are much more deeply discounted (or free if you pirate). you can find used 6th-8th gen intel desktops for like $100-200 online and if you're patient you can easily find one that has room for a reasonably-sized gpu. a $150-$200 gpu will perform just fine and you're at $400, same price as the series x.
only way a console would really be cheaper is if you get xbox and buy gamepass and only ever play games that are on it, but pc has gamepass too

Pc gaming looks like a lot of work, a lot of fiddling to make games look/run better, or upgrading your hardware that soon becomes obsolete. It looks like a constant battle with the end result; you sat upright at a computer desk playing games with a mouse and keyboard, which doesn't sound enticing to someone like myself who can get home and just fall on the sofa, turn the xbox on and play a game with no effort whatsoever, at a fraction of the price of a good pc.
You can use controllers on PC, hoom up your PC to a TV, and PC hardware doesn't become obsolete overnight. You can absolutely build a good PC for less than $600 that'll last you 10+ years. If you're too dumb to do the basic setup then yeah, a console is perfect for you

the game I am playing has you join lobbies of 2, 4 or 12 players and while the lobby fills up, there's not much else to do than wait, sure, you could chat with players in-game, you could play around with units in the forge, you could do trading on the marketplace, but as someone who has played the game for so long, I already own every unit and maxed them out, I don't have to do anything other than wait until I get to play, sure, there's also solo maps, but its more fun with other people

you don't need a "good" gaming pc. if you're a poorgay trying to stretch your money the furthest, a used pc from a few generations ago that you stick a mid-tier or slightly out of date gpu in will cost you about the same as a console and you'll be able to get games that are much more deeply discounted (or free if you pirate). you can find used 6th-8th gen intel desktops for like $100-200 online and if you're patient you can easily find one that has room for a reasonably-sized gpu. a $150-$200 gpu will perform just fine and you're at $400, same price as the series x.
only way a console would really be cheaper is if you get xbox and buy gamepass and only ever play games that are on it, but pc has gamepass too

Alot of games on PC are shovelware and people who reuse assets for a quick buck. Also there are games when bring ported seem to have a lot of problems on PC which is not the PCs fault but rather PC being so different than what the game was originally designed from.
