It's not that the final boss invalidates faith builds, more like it invalidates holy damage builds. You can still pivot to fire damage, and, I think, there were some faith scaling lightning weapons, weren't there?
If you played the game, then you hackchually unironically literally didn't beat the game.

what causes this particular brainrot?

granted, fromsoft are terrible at managing what's to be cut
especially in a massive game like ER, i believe splitting the game in halves to make it a denser experience would be better
or are we still coping that all the merchant and sleep stuff is gonna make a comeback in the dlc? that all the boss repeats are good actually? that huge open areas with nothing worth exploring are SOVL?

>there is no actual cohesive plot or reason for anything to happen and things are just thrown into the game and placed wherever the frick because there was no proper design document and the director is terrible at his job >complaining about this shit means you have brainrot
Imagine if Tolkien wrote his books and then took out 90% of the exposition and just left in all the scenic descriptions and travelling but when Frodo stops to ask Gandalf "Why am I taking the ring to Mount Doom?" the old frick just smiled and went "Ahh, the Ringbearer and his One Ring... Ascend the plains of Mordor" and that was it
Also Merry is a femboy with bare dainty feet because ??? and Sam just kind of orbits one in five chapters to say some dumb cryptic shit he heard once instead of actually being a continual supporting presence on Frodo's journey.

>Merry is a femboy with bare dainty feet
Wait, this is supposed to be the bad version?
>there were some faith scaling lightning weapons
Lightning weapons scale with dex for some dumbass reason. However if you use a seal with lightning weapon that attunement power scales with the seal scaling.
>Not blasting Radagon and Beast with Flames of Redmanes and ADLS
I mean come on, you think you can kill God with a power derived from your devotion to him? A power He Himself granted you?
I'm planning to do a faith run at the moment, was looking at the spear of fortisax and thinking about going into lightning spells, then I realized that lightning doesn't scale with faith and the spear has no faith scaling so my only options for a faith build are that shit in the OP which I don't want to use because it looks ugly.
Lightning in ER = Dex. Well, Lightning infusion at any rate. I think there were some lightning options for Faith as well. At the very least the dragon incantations.
>FTH is just le holy damaeg
Flame infusions also scale with FTH, moron, plenty of basic ass physical weapons like Gurranq's heavy mace also scale with FTH
[...]
Because it got massively nerfed past the first version, so now most people pivot to the talisman
ok but why did they have to make holy damage, which is the coolest one, so shit? Am I supposed to use the golden order gs just to beat up some weak-ass skeletons or, god forbid, for pvp?
Holy is the Faith version of magic because you have so many ways to boost its damage to compensate for it getting hard blocked by all the divine creatures. It's also no especially resisted by other shit. Plenty of shit just takes neutral to it. It's just inferior to magic damage.
everytime I try make a build other than strenght. I feel like I'm just doing damage with extra steps. like why would I want to cast a bunch of buffs or use spells when I can just smash everything with my Greatsword and not waste stats into faith or int and put them into vig or end?
I guarantee my faith build will absolutely annihilate and rape you savagely with a reach around under you cum and I plunge deeper inside exploding your innards with lightning, shut the frick up strgay
same, it always feels like the buffs and spells are just complicating shit for what, an extra 2% damage increase ? like pyromancy is cool and all but all that setup vs just swinging twice really activates the almonds. plus i dont like how spells almost remove a lot of base mechanics like parrying, counters, smart positioning, etc
Buffs are more often than not multiplicative. Even just golden vow + ye flask + strength flame can pump to you 1.5x or more damage and it takes an entire 6 seconds outside the fog wall to set up.
2H +25 GS, 60 str r1 does 1136 to an albinauric in Mohg's swamp. With just vow + flame grant me strength you jump to 1569. 400 added damage per swing and you don't notice?
>FTH is just le holy damaeg
Flame infusions also scale with FTH, moron, plenty of basic ass physical weapons like Gurranq's heavy mace also scale with FTH
Why does no one use the turtle shield for stamina regen you did in Dark Souls?
Because it got massively nerfed past the first version, so now most people pivot to the talisman
All it does is hurt holy damage. Faith has a shitload of other (potentially extremely strong) potential damage types. It's not that weird to have to account for more than one damage type in an RPG at some point.
On a basic level the game is about destroying the golden order, it's half of the reason why everyone wants you dead. Of course you fight a lot of holy enemies.
Black person you've got black flame, lightning, regular fire, frenzied flame, boulder throwing, and ALL damage types including magic via dragon communion if you invest a little in Arc or slap on the Silver Tear Mask, and you think your build is "useless" in the end-game?
Faith is absurdly versatile in Elden Ring.
His argument is probably surrounding the classic souls tradition of surrounding your build around a "single teaching" which is even more present in Elden Ring with how it categorized spells.
He wants to be a Golden Order hound using holy weapons and considers dipping into heretical shit like Black Flame or even Lightning to ruin his character build.
It's the same reason why people fume at int/fai for having Golden Incants tossed in with necromancey and blasphemous magma because they would find the build moronic if your Tarnished practiced both.
This would be remedied if there were some kind of big bonuses for trying to stick with only "compatible" incantations, and penalties for dual wielding conflicting faiths.
(Could also apply to sorcery, but with lighter penalties since sorcerers learning and using whatever they want makes more sense)
Well every catalyst has a damage bonus, although differences in scaling and even the bonus damage are inconsistant. I don't think From wanted to force you to use a single incant type in your build, it's merely a traditionalist thing since Dark Souls strictly broke magic into 3-4 categories that each used a single damage type.
To be fair faith in DS1 had both lightning and magic damage spells, and the DLC added phys damage sorceries and pyromancies

Well yeah there were some exceptions. But each DaS game had a particular damage philsophy that was a bit more thought out than Elden Ring.
In DaS Fire Damage was strong against starter enemies like hollows and was free magic at the sacrifice being harder to upgrade. Magic offered effectiveness over most armored opponents, blocked by dragons. Then Lightning toppled everything except gods and was made a rare damage source not readily available till late game if you weren't a miracle user.
Then DaS II/III introduced Dark which required the highest magic investment but offered damage that could harm godly things but was very weak against hollows and evil things.
Elden Ring doesn't follow the same philosophy, it gives Faith a lot of Holy, which is basically is like DaS Fire but worse, but then gives them fire and lightning which have an environment gimmick. Magic is just pure neutral shit strong against nothing but not weak to much.
It makes Faith seem well, overstacked, especially since hybrids don't really unlock a distinct damage type anymore.

I wish the magma sorceries were better.

The magma sorceries are great, the problem is the Gelmir staff is fricking dogshit. In order to do Magma Sorceries right you just pick a better staff and pump Int. You'll take a cut in some way due to bare minimum faith investment. but the highest Magma spell is like 18 fai minimum.
I used the Gargoyle Black Blade through the entire game and it worked fine on all of the demigods. The holy resistance isn't that much of an issue unless you literally ONLY do holy damage. But even then, Faith is absurdly versatile and there are many holy weapons that do percentage health damage. Most of the holy resistance is backloaded on endgame bosses, but all of them have weaknesses to other Faith damage types or are incredibly susceptible to Destined Death.
This is like arguing that Magic is not viable because Raya Lucaria is crammed full of magic defense. Or that Fire isn't viable because the Fire Giant is a required boss. Yeah, there are going to be fricking enemies that resist every damage type in the game, otherwise damage types are literally fricking meaningless. Either you change to suit the enemy or accept that you're making life harder for yourself with build loyalty.
>waaaah faith bad despite having the most options in the game
you gays are the same as straight up sword-board gays except somehow being more moronic by refusing to use the options literally presented to you
No, it's not like I'm judging people for using it. I'm a Blasphemous Blade enjoyer myself.
It's more like "what were they thinking!?". The devs just packed too much into a single weapon. >passive heal from killing enemies >active heal on weapon skill hit >superarmor on the weapon skill >huge range on the weapon skill >weapon skill causes hard knockdown
BB is the confident #1 in my top 3 broken weapons.
Agreed, it’s absolutely nuts, easily the best PvE weapon in the entire game. I’m also a BB enjoyer and my first build was a STR/FTH build on launch so finding out how good it is was a happy accident. Out of curiosity, what are the other 2 broken weapons in your top 3?
Mohg's trident is #2.
And the third place is probably shared between DMGS and Sacred Relic Sword.
Well, as you can see, I gravitate towards certain weapon types more than the others, and the list is by no way objective. I could probably put RoB somewhere up there too.
I'd also place DMGS, Mogh's Spear, and The Blasphemous Blade in the top three, though I'd arrange it as >DMGS >BB >MS
They're all really fricking busted.
Third place is easily Envoy's Long Horn. The only drawbacks are the shit drop rate and that it takes until Leyndell to get it, otherwise it is FTH's equivalent to Comet Azur cheese. Even Elden Beast gets fricked by bubbles and it's supposed to be strong to that shit
Tfw I also went for a str/fth „paladin“ build and kept using one of those generic golden swords until the end.
When I switched to this shit I was so puzzled how much better it was lmao
they made it look like diarrhea, so that makes it homosexual tier anyways. It could 1shot any enemy in the game including invaders, give you infinite HP and buff all your starts to 99 and I will still not use it
why can't they made a curved greatsword that doesn't look like garbage? Like take a Falchion, or Grossemesser and just scale it up, boom a good looking curved greatsword. It has a real guard, it doesn't look like a melted turd
Its really not that good compared to a lot of other stuff
Weapon art is alright for bosses you can stun with it, but overall its pretty mid, no clue what everyones so hyped about when it comes to this weapon tbh. AR is way too low to justify lack of bleed/frost
>but overall its pretty mid
It does insane damage and heals you
I'm doing a playthrough with it right now and I've been consistently 4-5 shotting bosses with it, including main ones like Morgott
I can try doing a faith build, a int build, a arcane build, a arcane/faith build, a dex build, a dex str build...... but in the end it all feels off, it doesn't quite feel right, it's like i am wearing the skin of someone else. And eventually I RETVRN........... I accept what I AM and what I want to do.......
Take the str/arc pill and get yourself a raspberry cordial-infused giant-crusher. Can you truly say you're pulverising your enemies if they're not exploding into blood?
Smarr indie company, spaghetti coding prease understandu
I don't know what their development process is like, but sometimes it feels like wholly different people have been in charge of implementing the same thing, so you get like 8 different interpretations of one mechanic in the game
And then you look at the Marais Executioner's Sword and it works perfectly with the insignia and prosthesis, and it's an absolute fricking monster for it.
I wish I could play this game again but for some reason it's having a lot of stutters recently. I played it 3 months ago without any issues and none of my other games are stuttering.
if you guided her all the way to the haligtree instead of killing her at the windmills for the prosthesis, you might as well properly finish her quest, so left

Yeah, you give her the prosthesis at the beginning of Altus, reach her following meeting spot (windmills, after killing the godskin) and execute her on the spot for that sweet +5 dex +attack boost talisman, no need to get all the way to the end of her questline, unlike the rotten insignia
having to commit to every single attack because it has a wind up and freezes you into place would make it pretty much unusable but i do get the feeling of being robbed of a cooler moveset. i also just plain like the design so losing on cool sith shit isn't that big of a hit
Depends on how they made it. I like to imagine it could have worked similarly to the beast cutter from Bloodborne, which was actually quite nice for crowd control with it's wide-sweeping attacks.
Coulda just made it the charged heavies.
Or just make it a stance-type ash of war like square off or unsheathe. L2+R1 for the telekinetic swipes and L2+R2 for the corkscrew.
For me it was and still is Moonveil. It carried me for about 90% of the game, and once I acquired it the game became so much easier to play. Despite so many weapons in the game I just stuck with Moonveil as nothing else felt comfortable/simple to use, plus I love katanas. A "magic" katana sounded even cooler.
I wanted to use this so bad then I found out it doesnt scale properly with bloodflame and you have to use grease which is lame because its the only arc weapon you can use buffs on
Do you set your limits? Make it a ruleset, if you need to. >Don't level up past x at x area >Don't upgrade weapons past x at x area >Only use [cosplay fitting] weapons

God bless for pc gaming and mods, i just started playing the boss rush mod instead, and gonna play the DLC on the original 150 hr save.

Congrats you beat the villain with the help of your two boyfriends, you are VERY skilled at the game
I'm thinking about making a level ~60 invader that has both boom physique ingredients to oneshot everyone I hit with it
It's gonna be a pain to get but this is the one way I can imagine pvp being fun
It's also the only way to achieve any kind of twinking effect because the explosion deals crazy damage as you said, nobody is gonna have the vig to survive this at that level range
>calls other players clowns for not being at le reddit meta level >quits when he gets his shit pushed in trying to crouch poke his way to victory
Ironic
I've been a blue since late DeS because it's much more fun to play fun police and watch reds seethe against somebody who's even more of a dick than them.
Granted playing Blue has been progressively less fun, much like invasions as a whole, but even in ER where Reds are at their weakest I've had some good moments.
I really do miss DeS invasions though, none of this advanced bracket and baby wheels nonsense where the host gets all possible benefits, no wonder Reds started reverse gank clubs to kill Blues.
I have no respect for blues in ER, at least in the Souls games there's some reward. In Elden Ring you're going blue just to gank because you have no friends to gank with, and you're doing it for free. There's a tiny minority that actually think they're helping a poor host, or just like to frick with reds but that's still miniscule compared to blues who are just friendless gankers

I get where you're coming from, as I said I still play Blue purely because I like the Blue Vs Red rivalry, I don't really care about rewards, but when the host gets two gold phantoms AND he also gets two summon us Blues and most probably still gets himself killed by a lone Red or simply by panicking and falling in a pit, it is pretty embarassing.
Honestly, I blame the change in userbase with the DS games, DeS wasn't like this, most of us were fully aware of the intention between invasions as a mechanic and enjoyed that, we reveled in the random dickassery, but nowadays most people who play these games are babies who are deathly afraid of the red man despite being pandered to in every single possible way, so yeah I do feel a bit dirty when I play as a Blue in ER, but it's still the job I enjoy the most, in theory.
>it's much more fun to play fun police and watch reds seethe against somebody who's even more of a dick than them
It's so funny that blues have become this. Instead of being this order that defends people who can't defend themselves, they're now this vestigial mechanic that stacks the advantage in the host's favour even more than it already is to near-insurmountable levels. The chucklefricks who were invading at base level with Quelaag's Fury Sword in the Undead Burg over a decade ago aren't invaders anymore, they became blues and/or gankers the moment it was clear that they have the biggest advantage and potential to piss people off. Even saint fricking riot, the premier roleplay build invader man, keeps "mean" shit on his characters like dual pikes or Moonveil for when he comes up against bullshit that his "cute" set-ups couldn't possibly overcome 99 times out of 100.
ER dueling is so aids because the fun aspect of it (the risk of your progress through the level) is invalidated by the fights being instanced so you're just running around fishing for a hit. invading is the real mans game
>get hookclaws >get 80 arc >make those things occult >strip naked >blue dancer it up >500 AR with the minimum dex >98 bleed
i'll take it over bloodflame any day
>quickstep and bloodhound are le cheating >but so is light rolling >level your vigor but don't wear the best armor, and also don't wear the worst/none because that's also unfair >you were too passive, but being too aggressive or hit and running is also le bad >you spammed ashes, but also just pressing RB isn't allowed because... it just isn't, ok?
What the frick does this troony want?
Whenever I see pvp gays b***hing with their "scared of the red man" autism for this game, it makes me genuinely kek to see how insane they are when they have to play against people that willingly opt into it and then get mad over it.
>This alone makes Faith viable
More like one of the many reasons Faith is borderline OP in this game
DS3 Faith builds to Elden Ring Faith builds is such a glow up
it certainly helps that faith essentially ate the pyromancer class from ds3. my favorite thing about elden ring's magic is that both stat scaling casting options come in like 4 or 5 separate elemental flavors for all scenarios, and both get access to physical damage spells too.
>use taunters tongue to lure in invaders >oh shit have to go afk hope I'm safe >come back after a couple minutes >theres prism stones all around my legs, furlcalling remedy item pickup
it's weird being reminded how nice pvpers can be amidst all the other shit
it's funny she's the only "behind the scenes mastermind" or "Schemer" of fromsoft games that can't be harmed, at alll, I can't think of anyone else, kind of moronic
>Ranni's quest involves her needing a special weapon to be able to slay a singular Two Fingers >yet every other fingers you find dead >you can also beat the fricking Elden Beast (God, with a capital G) with your bare fists
my favorite plothole, although this one does have an answer since the shit was originally for the cut Mimic Tear quest
Not interacting with her at all fricks her over the hardest. Her other servants are incompetent at best and traitorous at worst. She needs you to accomplish anything of significance.
What's worse for her: being dead or still being stuck on that rotting, parasitized rock; fruitlessly working towards a goal she will never accomplish?
Doing any other ending than hers is a slap to the face and one she never quites recover from. Not to mention by the time you reach the end practically everyone she ever loved is dead and if you didn't progress her story at all she's stuck as a rotten doll in a tower. Seems pretty harmed to me
>do Ranni quest to the point of getting the DMGS >beat radabeast >step right past her summon sign and do age of order ending >laugh as the false hopes she built up of not wandering the cosmos alone go up in smoke
>Do a FTH/INT playthrough >Have my character reasonably bulky + buffs, at minimum have 20% resist in each defensive stat >Mimic Tear boss still one-shots me with Ring of Light
How loaded is this Incantation specifically?
this sword was so fricking based for melania, it carried my playthrough. I spent like a week just carrying morons through her because the weapon art or whatever would KD that c**t every time. then for elden beast it all of a sudden was useless. elden ring was such dogslop. it's crazy how people defend it.
>Game bad because weapons have actual pros and cons
Stick to TES
game was ez and boring, cope and seethe about it as much as you want fromtroons whatever flavor of damage you do the entire combat just boils down to pic related, whatever weapon is in your hand is just a stat stick in between dodge rolls in all soulslop
>Wear blue cipher >summoned to gank an invader >do patches squat and watch the host die >host keeps running around me thinking ill help >when host dies I run over to them and stalk dung pie
lolololol
I had a naked dual-wield Golem Halberd character once and people fled at the sight of it. They're just so huge, I assume I looked like some ungodly 1-shot build.
yes, that very axe in fact. was running it with freezing mist on a frost paladin until i got blaidd's greatsword. got the sword, used it for a bit, switched back to the crescent. such a fun weapon.
I think the only reason to use it would be if you want to colossal status spam and also wield gransax for whatever reason. Though at that point you'd be better off dumping the rest of your levels into fth and just using the clawmark seal
It kinda depends on the investment into being as OP as possible. Full tuned build of magic is gonna whip melee's ass any day but if you don't go 100% into it melee is just better. Not to mention melee is much much easier to build around at middling effort levels.
there's also the thought investment to consider. spellcasting has like 200 damage options and though some of them are very good none of them are OP for every situation. not to mention buffs, scaling, the physick, and whatever else you want to stack to make a truly "OP" caster. to make the blasphemous blade OP you level your stats correctly then hit l2. maybe cast flame grant me strength first.
honestly the game's damage scaling is so moronic that just mashing the vig level up button and putting the rest in unga bonk str or a bleed weapon is probably the most op shit you can do
I genuinely dislike how they just decided to give weapons a bunch of lasers and shit. Moonveil is fricking moronic and also trivializes the entire PvE, which is why they have to do whatever weird new leveling system for the DLC because otherwise people would laser beam the entirety of it in like 2 hours. Instead of doing cool special attacks that are slightly more grounded in reality like the Stamp or some of the other normal attacks, they just said "eh whatever, laser beams, AoE, fire beams, frick it all" and called it a day. I would kill for them to add proper stances so you can use something like the Zweihander in a way that reflects how that kind of sword was used for real, or give it a stance where light or heavy attack makes you do different moves with different properties like dodging while attacking or block+attack or something fun like that.
Laser sword shit is moronic and makes everyone play like monkeys and pseudo-mages because it encourages you to stay at a distance and just ooga booga shoot lasers.
I went for a magic playthrough on my first run, totally blind praying ER would have something like the immolation tinder, my disappointment was immeasurable when I found out there was nothing like this. I hope the DLC brings back weapon catlysts but I doubt it.
Carian grandeur misericorde on my int dex build is a really funny finisher, it's kind of like playing a mage that can pull of MH triple charge great sword out of his ass .
Everyone knows that Carian Slicer is fricking busted. Does the damage of a low end greatsword with the speed of a dagger, all while being the most FP efficient spell in the game.
Oh I did when I played this game initially 2 years ago, it was invalidating my melee. But now I'm trying to do ranged character with surprise big swords for things that come closer.
>everyone missed
Anon, I’m fairly certain everyone knows Carian Slicer is one of the best INT spells. This is like saying “wow, Catch Flame does so much damage, how come no one talks about it?”
Nah, have it be a true counter/mimic style boss. >if you summon help it summons help >if you use BS magic it uses BS magic >if you heal it heals
And to top it off have it smack talk the player for using anything in the fight.
>strip off all armor and weapons >remove all spells and incants from bar >equip two madness seals >drink all of my flasks
This is how a true mimic fight should be. We punch eachother's lights out until someone frenzies and dies.
>Roll up to final DLC boss ready to ring my little bell and mash L2 with my Blasphemous Blade into him >Enter arena ring bell and start buffing >Boss proceeds to whip his own bell out and summons a clone of itself as well
Every fromsoft game makes a lot of the NPCs that arent other player models bigger then the player, if not outright giant. Hell even the basic soldiers and commoners are taller. Its a mix of gameplay and art stuff to make you feel like your facing against someone quite literally bigger in both power and importance.
I don't care if others think it's ugly, I like the unga 2 handed heavy and the fact that you go full primal dipshit and bodyslam with the ash. The fact that the fricking thing is bar none the strongest of its class and hits colossal sword AR is a nice perk.
int/fai fricking sucks because the only benefit to it are those holy damage discs and sword of night and flame

>is that what you're telling me?

So you can use SoNaF and sorceries on the side (with a normal staff). 60 int is still respectable damage.
so how should i set my character up for pvp? just get rid of the sorceries entirely and use mostly faith spells and sonaf?

You would be way better off sticking to incantations and maybe a couple gimmick spells like the cannon for ledge shenanigans. PVP INT/FTH is actually not that bad. You can mix up Radagon's Ring, Triple Rings, Wrath of Gold, Elden Stars to setup some tricky situations.

I used stuff like SoNaF and Coded Sword as sidearms in case I needed to fight without time to restore FP. You can use these as your main tool, of course, but don’t ignore the spells and incants. There’s a lot of great stuff for PvP, like Carian Piercer for roll catching, Catch Flame has unreal damage and stagger (with max cast speed from Azur’s Staff and Radagon icon, it also combos well with C.Piercer and Stone of Gurranq among other great options), triple discus is really good zoning, and so on. Hell, I’ve had a couple super fun wins pulling out Radagon’s Rings and Fortissax’s double spear. Also, some of those utility incantations can come in clutch if you find a good time to cast. I almost always keep Law of Regression slotted, comes in handy more often than you’d expect.

The golden order light spells are fantastic but they require a lot of stat investment to pull off. For the lowest commitment I suggest pure faith and bump int to 14 for discus. Super reliable and it’s fun to hit enemies on the rebound. Double fun if you go full gimmick mode and parry your returned spell with the Erdtree great shield. It’s all holy damage so take that for what you will but very stylish and a very unique style of play.

ADR in pvp is really really annoying though so I don't see why you shouldn't use it. It won't kill people but it will trip them up.
Also don't sleep on magma sorceries, though I really don't need to go true int/fai for those.

I used an Int/Fai build for one of my playthroughs and also took it to the PvP coliseums. It’s obviously not as good as some super optimized bleed build or pure INT bullshittery, but it does just fine. I’m not good at PvP, so if I can manage to win around half my fights, the build style is at least moderately viable.

It's not like armor stats mean shit outside of Limgrave since most of the later game bosses/enemies will 1 or 2 shot you.
How is it not? Any armor is negligible at best, the only reason to give a shit about armor stats after DS1 is for shit like resistances.
>since most of the later game bosses/enemies will 1 or 2 shot you.
For the love of god LEVEL VIGOR.
I leveled it to 60, I still cannot think of a single time when armor did frickall to prevent the problem with late game enemies being overtuned when it comes to damage. Once you hit the mountaintops the only enemies that won't 1-3 shot you are the basic b***h catacomb cats and other low tier shit that you just run past anyways.
Anon in Elden Ring you can literally facetank most of the bosses easily with a tank build.
You're doing something severely wrong to be getting 1-3 shotted.
Such as wearing >Radagon's Soreseal
Seals are only good for early game where you want to make up for a lack of stats to use the rare item. Again, I swapped around between shit like the Fingerprint set and other medium sets and the problem still persists with shit like Nail almost always killing in 2 or 3 hits. >Just play a specific build to stack seven buffs to make the fact that armor in the game is almost completely pointless
No.
>go full tank with the best armor I have so far and embrace the fatroll >30% damage reduction >meh whatever let's not do that, midroll time >20% damage reduction, usually more
Yeah what the frick is this.
You can reach 50% damage negation with armor and talismans, even before using any defense buffs. It's also really not hard to reach ~2000 HP. Pair that with how many Ashes of War give you hyper armor, poise, damage negation, or just stunlock bosses, and face-tanking is really easy. And that's not even getting into how good shields are.
With how they've kind of toned down scaling on offensive stats, Vigor is the best stat in the game for how high its returns are.
>talismans >AOW
Not armor. That's like covering the wall with pictures and posters to cover up the fact that your buddy Barry drunkenly stumbled into it last week and now there's a giant hole in the wall.
50% negation is from armor and talismans, and the great shield talisman only gives a portion of that. You can willfully and intentionally bullshit all you want but armor in Elden Ring is useful. It's just not absolutely broken because the game expects you to use all of the tools it gives you.
30% with fat rolling is negligible at best and still ends with you getting killed in three hits at best. So I highly doubt that extra 20 does frickall outside of maybe making it take 3 and a half hits to kill, maybe four. >yeah but just sit behind a shield
then your guard gets broken because you're just sitting there because your dodge rolls are fricking ass leaving you unable to use it and your stamina gets drained faster than you can get it back. Eat shit moron, armor is more pointless in Elden Ring than it was in shit like Dark 3 or Bloodborne.

Every additional point of negation is bigger than the last. Going from 40 to 50% means you take 16% less damage, effectively, despite only going up 10%. So, yes, that extra 20 does a fricking lot. >then your guard gets broken
Have you literally never seen somebody use a shield in Elden Ring?
what was their mindset behind making int/fai so fricking awful in this game? it's actually borderline unplayable compared to the amount of support other builds get
I'm guessing it was at first a "too many cooks in the kitchen" situation where the weapon guy didn't get the memo that Fundy & Death were INT+FAI. Then post release Japanese autism and pride prevented them from patching in even C-D scaling on the weapons that should have them.
what are the odds the dlc makes it better because honestly 90% of the spells suck ass too
rykards rancor and ancient death rancor can be avoided by walking towards the caster
like wow great spells
I'm guessing they will add new INT+FAI weapons and spells that aren't dogshit, but leave the old stuff dogshit because: >"Frick you! Them being shit & designed wrong is our vision, Prease understando!"
They made a category of spells/incantations for it but then somehow forgot to add an Ashe of War category for them so now you're stuck playing a gimped version of an INT build or a gimped version of a FTH build.
>The guilty, their eyes gouged by thorns, lived in eternal darkness. There, they discovered the blood star. >the guys that cast these hang out with flame monks >Messmer is missing an eye
Messmer is bringing it back briar bros
Unfortunately you can only get his signature thorn spell by completing an elaborate jump puzzle to a evergaol to fight his twin brother Mossmer, The Skewerer. The spell in question is just Briars of Punishment but with three thorns instead of 1
We're gonna get another platforming section like the one that leads to the Three Fingers, but it will be just as tall as the one from Armoured Core 1. Yes there will be mobs with greatbows shooting at you.
I still can't believe people actually defended reusing Godrick for an evergaol fight and acting like it "totally makes sense" for the "lore" of Elden Ring.
>Be spell design Dev >completely ignore the dev that thinks arcane should be the bleed stat and is making cool Mohg blood incants >"I want to rip off dead man wonderland that would be so cool" >Genius idea of creating a staff for it that's a faith scaling staff, you know, like the gimmick staves in every souls game that are fricking useless because spells require int to use >It's ok though, he'll make these spells have a high faith requirement to use. >The spells are pretty much dog shit compared to the based Mohg Incants, hurting the player, slow to cast, worse damage and bleed build up. >Fortunately a few players discover that the Albinauric Staff boosts the bleed of these spells due to how arcane scaling works >"REEEEEEE NO YOU CAN'T JUST MAKE MY SPECIAL FAITH EDGELORD SPELLS USEFUL WITH homosexual ARCANE USE MUH STAFF OF THE GUILTY!" >Proceeds to nerf Arcane scaling with Thorn Sorceries to complete dogshit
>AOW isnt autistic >Gets over 1k damage with softcaps and a minor buff >roll punishes and range up the ass
if this weapon did any other damage type it would be beyond broken
Just copy this guy from the DLC trailer. Knight set with a straight sword and medium shield. Use only the most basic faith incantations like Catch Flame and Lightning Spear.
I want the Dark Moon greatsword, how tooled up do I have to be for Astel? I want to be clear that I don't care for giving him a fair fight at all, but I also don't want to wait until too late in the game to go for it.
Astel isn't really that hard, most of his moves are heavily telegraphed, the only problem I had with him was that move he does that does like 3 AoE attacks, I had trouble dodging that as a melee player, as a mage you can just stay a safe distance away and spam magic.
I haven't played the game since release, going through the patch notes and noticed that 1.10 adds poise to hyperarmor when attacking. How much of an effect does this have on pve?
It'd be great. Theirs a straightsword moveset that includes a block as part of it but lack of physical block and decent guardboost hurts its usefulness and it not being a real shield means they don't recoil so no counter damage.
>Gravel Stone Seal >The worship of the ancient dragons does not conflict with belief in the Erdtree. After all, this seal, and lightning itself, are both imbued with gold. >Yet trading in any dragon cult book still gets the heresy remark from both Incantation mentors
???????????????
Turtle pope says the same line about every spell book
It's not about whether this particular one is heresy, he just thinks heresy is a spook in general
It's a small increase, if you could cruise through ng+1, ng+2 won't be much different. I'm going to jump into the dlc on that, and we'll see how the dlc leveling mechanic works out.
If you ever encounter a blue that just gestures at you and t-bags your pussy ass when the red has their way with you, it's me.
Stop being a pussy and get good.
>sword probably weighs like 12lbs MAYBE >bros dragging it across the floor and slamming it into the ground like he's trying to use a barbell as a weapon
absolutely fricking garbage annoying SHIT... and it's why the Hollow Slayer sword and any of the swords that share that elegant moveset are THE BEST.. even if DS2 sucked at least that sword is incredible.
>Can I use a cool ash of war >No I need to use impaling thrust to replicate the Hollow Slayer
You're not wrong, but it still annoys me.

Anonymous
the coolest ash of war is ordovis's vortex anyway and you can't put that on anything
3 months ago
Anonymous
The coolest is probably Wolf Assault, Moonlight Greatsword, or Ice Spear. But Ordovis's Vortex is pretty neat. It's always nice when a unique weapon actually has a fun Ash of War given how many uniques are not only stuck with a generic Ash of War, they're stuck with a shit one to boot (looking at you Gravitas)
Anonymous
Gravitas is actually pretty disgusting with the Reforged mod
I've got one with impaling thrust, another with sword dance, and a third with storm blade. All of them do wonders for catching poor bastards that inevitably try to escape after the second r1.
Star Fists are the most OP weapon in the game, you just take two balls from the great star and wear them on your fist and they do insane stagger damage with the fastest charged R2 ever.
i hope we get more ghostflame and or destined death weapons or ashes of war.
Ditto. In general I hope they focus like 99% on like forbidden-tier of weapons and spells based off where we're going. Oh who am I kidding, we're gonna get like 10 new sorceries, and 5 new incantations that behave the exact same as the ones in the base game, except with a different color, and like maybe 1 new spell for the "heretical" category each.
>greataxe status buildup when infused with Cold or Blood despite being a regular axe >can use the fast spinning slash of small weapons
Pretty decent weapon.
>this is better >NO THIS IS BETTER >that weapon/skill/spell is busted you can't use that!
Etc etc. I just use whatever looked cool, you guys let the opinions of other people affect you too much. The first third of my first playthrough was sword and board, then it was int and dex magic katana build, and now I'm comfortable with my strength and int dual straightsword magic knight build. I really love how easy they made rebirth in this game. But seriously, stop letting others influence you so much.
According to my stats added up between xbox, pc, and PS5 I have about 1300 hours total time played. I couldn't tell you how much of that was idling though. I decided to make a new character (wretch) and just go all out and see how high I could get him to level. Although I'm only going to level up what I can use at the moment, and not include big gaps (I.e, not pumping ten points into str to two-hand the great axe at the start). Could be fun to simply become a God in this game and use everything.
I wonder if there's a similar feature to the co-op level range where you break your limiter and get matched with everyone above like, level 400
Just finished an all bosses playthrough going Cold Claymore -> Dark Moon Greatsword -> DMGS and Helphen's Steeple and it was a lot of fun. Frost and you can boost the magic damage and Moonlight Greatsword R2 to oblivion. Doing DEX claws now with quickstep and it's engaging.
Damn now this makes me wanna do yet another playthrough. Never saw any of the mods for this besides the co op one. How are they overall? Any recommendations?
I've tried a bit of Reforged and Convergence >Reforged
Changes your roll into a step. Allows you to do Sekiro reflecting by blocking right as an attack would hit you. Has a couple of new weapons I didn't touch. It wasn't for me, but it's alright I guess. >Convergence
Mostly a magic-centered mod. Sort of flattens the game and makes things more linear. You pick a spell school at the start and go ham. You get a note saying in which optional dungeons there's spellbooks for you. Also changes areas and adds some new simple sections. Stormveil now requires you to actually explore most of it. (Which can be a bad thing if you enjoyed the openness of base ER). If you like a magic powerfantasy, it's a good mod
>Childhood: Summoning for Radahn because you need the help >Adolescence: Solo'ing Radahn to prove yourself >Maturity: Summoning for Radahn because it's thematically appropriate
You don't need more.
>Fools be trying to trade in pontiff duels with their UGS
>The pierce counter ring and all the vigor in the world
>Only ever lose if the person has something resembling a brain, which is rare
Longest streak was like 17 kills, until my estus just ran out and I lept off off the cliff on my own accord
I like the Elden Ring pickaxe, but I wish there was a non-great version as well.
I didn't beat the game?
famroree
>make faith build
>from's makes it useless by the end of the game
I loved this thing and I was forced to use the zweinhunder for radagon
>and I was forced
Wrong.
It's not that the final boss invalidates faith builds, more like it invalidates holy damage builds. You can still pivot to fire damage, and, I think, there were some faith scaling lightning weapons, weren't there?
>pivoting at all away from your build
Ydbtg
>make a bad build that can be countered by resistance to one (1) damage type
>butt blasted when the game pushes back
if your "build" has more than one damage type, you actually unironically didn't beat the game
then there is literally no way to beat the game because absolutely everything is technically more than one damage type besides some spells/incants
Pretty sure most blunt weapons don't do normal or thrust, unlike swords.
blunt/pierce/slash are modifiers to physical damage, so technically physical is two types of damage to itself
>blunt/pierce/slash are modifiers to physical damage
No they aren't
If you played the game, then you hackchually unironically literally didn't beat the game.
Well yeah the game is unfinished as shit
>if there is cut content that means the game is unfinished
what causes this particular brainrot?
granted, fromsoft are terrible at managing what's to be cut
especially in a massive game like ER, i believe splitting the game in halves to make it a denser experience would be better
or are we still coping that all the merchant and sleep stuff is gonna make a comeback in the dlc? that all the boss repeats are good actually? that huge open areas with nothing worth exploring are SOVL?
>there is no actual cohesive plot or reason for anything to happen and things are just thrown into the game and placed wherever the frick because there was no proper design document and the director is terrible at his job
>complaining about this shit means you have brainrot
Yidabatig?
Welcome to Ganker, kiddo.
Phanks!
nice avatar, homosexual
yeah but trumpet was way more fun, so I just stopped outside Radaon
>there were some faith scaling lightning weapons
Lightning weapons scale with dex for some dumbass reason. However if you use a seal with lightning weapon that attunement power scales with the seal scaling.
Given the access to all damage types I feel like they wanted to refrain from giving faith anymore than Holy and Fire for natural scaling.
If you're doing a Golden Order Good Boy build, fire is heresy, but Lighting is not.
Lighting is Godwyn's choice of a weapon after all.
>If you're doing a Golden Order Good Boy build
Anon you're trying to kill your god. Use the fricking fire
>inseparable sword
>you need to separate from it
fromsoft WHAT THE FRICK
Just hit him with the sword more times than he hits you, you dingus
use the lizard blade
>FGMS
you did not, by any stretch of the imagination, beat the game
He quite literally did, look at the hp of the boss, it's showing how he's beating the game.
>health bar 0
He beat the game.
what weapon?
That sword you get from the lizard dragon boss in the passage to Altus from Liurnia.
>Not blasting Radagon and Beast with Flames of Redmanes and ADLS
I mean come on, you think you can kill God with a power derived from your devotion to him? A power He Himself granted you?
what about the god killing black flame blade
Worked For Asura
You have access to every damage type as a faith build. If anything, it's the most versatile.
Lightning spells scale with faith, but I'm pretty sure there are no lightning faith weapons. It's pretty weird.
Use Siluria's Tree or Ordivis's Greatsword
Use the Black Knife, it's been blatantly broken since day 1
Faith builds is more than just holy tho.
ok but why did they have to make holy damage, which is the coolest one, so shit? Am I supposed to use the golden order gs just to beat up some weak-ass skeletons or, god forbid, for pvp?
Holy is the Faith version of magic because you have so many ways to boost its damage to compensate for it getting hard blocked by all the divine creatures. It's also no especially resisted by other shit. Plenty of shit just takes neutral to it. It's just inferior to magic damage.
Some weapons/incantations are just shit and you have to accept that. I was surprised that Golden Order GS does less damage than a flame art Claymore
>last uploaded a year ago
everytime I try make a build other than strenght. I feel like I'm just doing damage with extra steps. like why would I want to cast a bunch of buffs or use spells when I can just smash everything with my Greatsword and not waste stats into faith or int and put them into vig or end?
Cuz I also appriciate the ability to do damage from a distance
I guarantee my faith build will absolutely annihilate and rape you savagely with a reach around under you cum and I plunge deeper inside exploding your innards with lightning, shut the frick up strgay
That's kinda gay.
no no its my character doing it not me
>thinks PVP matters
let's get someone's opinion that matters
so you think running from me is a valid argument?!?!?!?!
why would you do this, I want to play with you, I love you, our times
>I love you
I love me too
>disconnects router
were you saying?
>buys game as presented
>chooses not to play it
I don't understand the defeatist mindset.
same, it always feels like the buffs and spells are just complicating shit for what, an extra 2% damage increase ? like pyromancy is cool and all but all that setup vs just swinging twice really activates the almonds. plus i dont like how spells almost remove a lot of base mechanics like parrying, counters, smart positioning, etc
Buffs are more often than not multiplicative. Even just golden vow + ye flask + strength flame can pump to you 1.5x or more damage and it takes an entire 6 seconds outside the fog wall to set up.
even with all that shit i never felt like i was doing more damage, and if i was i didnt even notice
2H +25 GS, 60 str r1 does 1136 to an albinauric in Mohg's swamp. With just vow + flame grant me strength you jump to 1569. 400 added damage per swing and you don't notice?
The same is true with every other stat so i don't know why you are singling out STR, infusions exist my man
war cry/braggart are so moronic you can 3 or 4 shot most pre mountaintop bosses anyway yeah
Based, STRChads are the only people who truly understand souls games at their core.
>FTH is just le holy damaeg
Flame infusions also scale with FTH, moron, plenty of basic ass physical weapons like Gurranq's heavy mace also scale with FTH
Of course you fight a lot of holy enemies.
stats and itemization are horrible in this game. one of my least favorite aspects of it.
Faith issue.
Either you change to suit the enemy or accept that you're making life harder for yourself with build loyalty.
>mfw I slammed my face through Maliketh, Godfrey, Radagon, Elden b***h and Malenia with a Sacred Golden Troll Sword
0/10 do not recommend
faith gets the best weapon in the game and it's not even close, just use fire damage and you're good bro
>waaaah faith bad despite having the most options in the game
you gays are the same as straight up sword-board gays except somehow being more moronic by refusing to use the options literally presented to you
it doesn't suck, you just suck because you limit yourself.
>Y-YU-Y-Y-Y-YOU D-D-D-DDIDN'T BB-BB-B-EAT T-T-T--HE G-G-G-GA-M-M-MM-E!
>*Sharts calmly*
No, it's not like I'm judging people for using it. I'm a Blasphemous Blade enjoyer myself.
It's more like "what were they thinking!?". The devs just packed too much into a single weapon.
>passive heal from killing enemies
>active heal on weapon skill hit
>superarmor on the weapon skill
>huge range on the weapon skill
>weapon skill causes hard knockdown
Thanks for sharing. I largely agree with your list. This
and Moonveil pre-nerf were also pretty insane
Left, don’t betray best girl
I'd also place DMGS, Mogh's Spear, and The Blasphemous Blade in the top three, though I'd arrange it as
>DMGS
>BB
>MS
They're all really fricking busted.
Third place is easily Envoy's Long Horn. The only drawbacks are the shit drop rate and that it takes until Leyndell to get it, otherwise it is FTH's equivalent to Comet Azur cheese. Even Elden Beast gets fricked by bubbles and it's supposed to be strong to that shit
Tfw I also went for a str/fth „paladin“ build and kept using one of those generic golden swords until the end.
When I switched to this shit I was so puzzled how much better it was lmao
>"what were they thinking?"
I mean you can ask that for a lot of weapons and spells in ER. It's just a spam fest L2 simulator
they made it look like diarrhea, so that makes it homosexual tier anyways. It could 1shot any enemy in the game including invaders, give you infinite HP and buff all your starts to 99 and I will still not use it
have a nice day gay
kek, did I get you, you?
go minmax even if it means weaing a dildo unicorn helmet lmao get triggered homosexualBlack person
Go fricking die, you tasteless piece of shit.
don't forget your turd shield!! (but its the best in the game!!!)
LMAAOOO
lmao buttmad Elden baby pissed people are making fun of his moronic looking weapons.
My mimic tear is going to annihilate the DLC with this while I watch
>Want to kill Rykard for the sword
>Also want to actually finish the volcano manor questline
you can do both
Obviously he means he wants to grab the sword EARLY. But you can't finish the last part of the quest until after Morgott.
Well that's on anon I would use merchant mod not to if I wanted to have my cake and eat it too
Gothic is better
Am I beating the game?
>great peepee
You already won
dude wtf you're on blue board delete it
>Great Epeen
This might be the only weapon that can, in fact, beat the game.
I mained that for like 80% of the game on my dex/int build.
I beat it with it, so yeah
Maybe, but you didn’t beat the other player
Haven't played since 2022, is a Frenzy Vyke build any good?
Dogshit, almost all the enemies are not affected by Madness.
Broken in PvP
Vyke's was gutted when they nerfed dual wield status procs.
Now you just have to use one Vyke's and madness incantations and can still be an absolute menace because status still procs off phantom hits
ezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I haven't played since launch what's the most busted build right now for pve?
still scavengers sword x2, seppuku x2, varre mask, jump attack gear, jump attack l1 spam
I used it but only after beating Malenia with the claymore, I also only used it because it's the same moveset as the claymore.
Still don't get how a big frickoff cleaver like this does delicate, finesse slash damage
Because dex is gay anon, it's made for you
On what fricking planet is the Omen Cleaver a DEX weapon
TWINK! TWINK! DEX TWINK!!!!
Planet moron.
It looks gay therefore it's dex
Cuz it's curved
It's called draw cutting anon
Still mad this is the closest thing to a Murakumo in the game.
Fricking DLC better have the Murakumo
The murakumo is the dismounter, though
why can't they made a curved greatsword that doesn't look like garbage? Like take a Falchion, or Grossemesser and just scale it up, boom a good looking curved greatsword. It has a real guard, it doesn't look like a melted turd
Why does no one use the turtle shield for stamina regen you did in Dark Souls?
Turtle talisman does a better effect and only costs a talisman slot
Its really not that good compared to a lot of other stuff
Weapon art is alright for bosses you can stun with it, but overall its pretty mid, no clue what everyones so hyped about when it comes to this weapon tbh. AR is way too low to justify lack of bleed/frost
>but overall its pretty mid
It does insane damage and heals you
I'm doing a playthrough with it right now and I've been consistently 4-5 shotting bosses with it, including main ones like Morgott
>including main ones like Morgott
Morgott is one of the easiest bosses in the game even without busted weapons
my beloved
Godslayer Greatsword, my beloved.

And then you look at the Marais Executioner's Sword and it works perfectly with the insignia and prosthesis, and it's an absolute fricking monster for it.

This is my wife.
I love my wife.
Her twin sister is also my wife.
I love dual standing my wives.
I love my wives.
Frick yeah.
Why did the 4-way scaling endgame weapon had to be a short sword this time?
I wish it was the great sword class.
Not much of a choice when it's the ONLY weapon for a fai/int build
There is literally nothing else
Flame/Sacred infused Clayman Harpoon?
>DDBB

I wish I could play this game again but for some reason it's having a lot of stutters recently. I played it 3 months ago without any issues and none of my other games are stuttering.
Works fine for me. Remember to run it borderless as full screen caps it at 60 fps.
Left or right?
if you guided her all the way to the haligtree instead of killing her at the windmills for the prosthesis, you might as well properly finish her quest, so left
you caught me that was the plan
nice, enjoy those insanely boosted heavy attacks (talisman doesn't proc on the wheel's special skill sadly)
>talisman doesn't proc on the wheel's special skill sadly
Why the frick are jap games full of these weird broken (and working) synergies?
Smarr indie company, spaghetti coding prease understandu
I don't know what their development process is like, but sometimes it feels like wholly different people have been in charge of implementing the same thing, so you get like 8 different interpretations of one mechanic in the game
>killing her at the windmills for the prosthesis
You can do that?
Yeah, you give her the prosthesis at the beginning of Altus, reach her following meeting spot (windmills, after killing the godskin) and execute her on the spot for that sweet +5 dex +attack boost talisman, no need to get all the way to the end of her questline, unlike the rotten insignia
right for potential dlc shenanigans
nothing quite as hard as the executioner sword and this mixed set
As good as the corkscrew is, I will always be annoyed that we don't get Elemer's telekinetic swipes.
having to commit to every single attack because it has a wind up and freezes you into place would make it pretty much unusable but i do get the feeling of being robbed of a cooler moveset. i also just plain like the design so losing on cool sith shit isn't that big of a hit
Coulda just made it the charged heavies.
Depends on how they made it. I like to imagine it could have worked similarly to the beast cutter from Bloodborne, which was actually quite nice for crowd control with it's wide-sweeping attacks.
Or just make it a stance-type ash of war like square off or unsheathe. L2+R1 for the telekinetic swipes and L2+R2 for the corkscrew.
pure kino sword, wish we would get more of that kind of stuff in games in general.
is that mea culpa
Yeah it’s the Penitent One’s sword. Always thought it was dope.
Are you gay if you hold the hilt?
I will cut you.
I will proc bleed.
You will bleed out.
You will die.
TOGETHAAA
Ripple Crescent halberd with pure ARC build. Applying sleep, poison or bleed grease on it depending on situation. mostly sleep
>symbol of Lilith
What did Miyazaki mean by this?
I wanted to use this so bad then I found out it doesnt scale properly with bloodflame and you have to use grease which is lame because its the only arc weapon you can use buffs on

That sword would be beautiful if you cleaned off the nasty snake tongues or whatever on it

No.
Prefer me a golden noble sword (jesus christ don't farm this) and a shiny brass shield. Otherwise agreed.
I didn't need more.

This GOTTA be ironic.

This is why I only invade, the pvp in these games is fricking garbage so might as well just do stupid shit and rejoice when I get that hard earned win with all odds against me
>Hurr durr I gestured at your dead corpse xd
Congrats you beat the villain with the help of your two boyfriends, you are VERY skilled at the game
I'm thinking about making a level ~60 invader that has both boom physique ingredients to oneshot everyone I hit with it
It's gonna be a pain to get but this is the one way I can imagine pvp being fun
It's also the only way to achieve any kind of twinking effect because the explosion deals crazy damage as you said, nobody is gonna have the vig to survive this at that level range
oh frick that's good
my dc's aren't as funny
>calls other players clowns for not being at le reddit meta level
>quits when he gets his shit pushed in trying to crouch poke his way to victory
Ironic
thats just duelists, and there's two kinds of people that become duelists with some overlap.
People that think Elden Ring is some sort of fighting game
People that are failed invaders
So there's only one kind of people who become duelists
not all failed invaders become duelist, some become blues or gankers
How did you get all this insight into the motivations of blues?
the truth is that he's posting on a blue board
>Blues don't even have an in-universe lore explanation anymore because for some reason Fromsoft didn't make Yura a blue hunter.
How far they've fallen...
>it's much more fun to play fun police and watch reds seethe against somebody who's even more of a dick than them
It's so funny that blues have become this. Even saint fricking riot, the premier roleplay build invader man, keeps "mean" shit on his characters like dual pikes or Moonveil for when he comes up against bullshit that his "cute" set-ups couldn't possibly overcome 99 times out of 100.
dueling is dumb fun that I have instant access to as a warmup or just to frick around a bit, but that's all it is
ER dueling is so aids because the fun aspect of it (the risk of your progress through the level) is invalidated by the fights being instanced so you're just running around fishing for a hit. invading is the real mans game
of course he plays a female character, too. what a f@g.

You did not beat the game.
Costs basically no MP and has insane DPS. This alone makes Faith viable
For me, its the Lance + any kite shield
potentially a straight sword for certain elementals. Bleed is too unethical in this game.
My baby.

>Ranni's quest involves her needing a special weapon to be able to slay a singular Two Fingers

my favorite plothole, although this one does have an answer since the shit was originally for the cut Mimic Tear quest
Not interacting fricks her over, but not quite as hard as going frenzied flame and slagging everything in its entirety.
Doing any other ending than hers is a slap to the face and one she never quites recover from. Not to mention by the time you reach the end practically everyone she ever loved is dead and if you didn't progress her story at all she's stuck as a rotten doll in a tower. Seems pretty harmed to me
>do Ranni quest to the point of getting the DMGS
>beat radabeast

>laugh as the false hopes she built up of not wandering the cosmos alone go up in smoke
You beat the game.

this sword was so fricking based for melania, it carried my playthrough. game was ez and boring, cope and seethe about it as much as you want fromtroons whatever flavor of damage you do the entire combat just boils down to pic related, whatever weapon is in your hand is just a stat stick in between dodge rolls in all soulslop

This weapon trivialize the entire game. It's scaling is also ridiculous for NG+++ whatever.
>also Fire Damage
shan't be topped
Starting my 2nd playthrough after beating the game near release.
Would like to have access to as many miracles, spells and incants so looking at at INT/FTH/ARC build.
First time I basically did STR grug with double hammers so I barely used spells other than a few resistance buffs.
Any ideas for breakpoints? I don't mind doing some PvP as I level up but I prefer playing fun/thematic stuff.
Finding situations to use underpowered or unpopular spells is what I enjoy.
Have you ever fallen in love with a weapon so hard that it ruined your plans to use a different weapon in your run and you keep going back to it?
I'll just use it at the start until I find something better.. then it strikes the last bonk on the Elden Beast.
what makes it better compared to other greataxes?
Nta, but massive range and it still does really high damage
Using other greataxes is kinda painful by comparison
Golem's halberd is basically a better (but heavier) version of greataxes
uglier too
I had a naked dual-wield Golem Halberd character once and people fled at the sight of it. They're just so huge, I assume I looked like some ungodly 1-shot build.
Golem's Halberd can't slot in Wild Strikes, though.
wide sweeping R2 unlike most which have a vertical slam
I think it is literally double the length of the Greataxe
yes, that very axe in fact. was running it with freezing mist on a frost paladin until i got blaidd's greatsword. got the sword, used it for a bit, switched back to the crescent. such a fun weapon.
Where are these true glorious pngs untouched by Fextralife's homosexualry?

It's so ugly.
>Sword of the most based genius demigod of all
Of course it's the most broken faith related thing in the game.
I desperately wanted to love this thing, but having absolutely no hyper armor whatsoever on its ash of war is completely backbreaking.
It's literally bugged, it had hyperarmor before
Is Melina the most beautiful Fromsoft NPC ever?
Not even close
Melina looks better than Friede though
Over under on them actually fixing it?
this, the godslayer greatsword has the same bug
>backbreaking
I read this as buckbreaking. I really need a break from Ganker.
my level 250 toon is gonna mog the dlc fr
>colossal weapon
>requires 30STR to wield
>DEX weapon
what the frick
Its a shit weapon like all axes, so asinine req is honestly a godsend
I think the only reason to use it would be if you want to colossal status spam and also wield gransax for whatever reason. Though at that point you'd be better off dumping the rest of your levels into fth and just using the clawmark seal
My beloved.
for me it's pic related
gigabased
I like the damage, but I prefer the stab R1s on the other halberds
I've never used it before but I am going to for my next playthrough just before the DLC comes out and no one can stop me.
Didn't someone argue earlier that magic is more broken than this sword for pve? Would anyone agree?
It kinda depends on the investment into being as OP as possible. Full tuned build of magic is gonna whip melee's ass any day but if you don't go 100% into it melee is just better. Not to mention melee is much much easier to build around at middling effort levels.
there's also the thought investment to consider. spellcasting has like 200 damage options and though some of them are very good none of them are OP for every situation. not to mention buffs, scaling, the physick, and whatever else you want to stack to make a truly "OP" caster. to make the blasphemous blade OP you level your stats correctly then hit l2. maybe cast flame grant me strength first.
honestly the game's damage scaling is so moronic that just mashing the vig level up button and putting the rest in unga bonk str or a bleed weapon is probably the most op shit you can do
You really dont need anything beyond this and double slash.
I never liked the look of this thing, like it just doesn't look properly sharp and pointy
I beat the game.
Desperately hoping the special power activates again for Mesmer's fight.
>nothin personal
i like LONG weapons. which is the one for me?
The pike
I didn't beat the game but I had really fun
clawCHADS where you at?
I really like, berserk roar, stand off, and just about every ash that causes you to change movesets, we really really need more of those
does elden ring have anything like this?
>does elden ring have soul
erm, no
no, closest thing we got was bloodhound fang, a re-branded furry old wolf CGS
>has the most drip out of all swords and elegant moveset in your way
Who's ready to have none of their questions answered in the DLC?
I went for a magic playthrough on my first run, totally blind praying ER would have something like the immolation tinder, my disappointment was immeasurable when I found out there was nothing like this. I hope the DLC brings back weapon catlysts but I doubt it.
>backstab me
sure thing, thanks for making it easy to interrupt you not beating the game
bump
Carian grandeur misericorde on my int dex build is a really funny finisher, it's kind of like playing a mage that can pull of MH triple charge great sword out of his ass .
You should try out carian slicer. Somehow everyone missed how absurdly strong it is whilst costing almost no FP whatsoever.
I used it, I loved it, I did beat the game. lmaoing at y'all.
>it's so frickig ugly tho
>Double great stars + claw talisman
poise breaks all day
You want stance breaks? Use guard counters with the great stars + cragblade + stonebarb. One guard counter + 1 hit breaks most bosses instantly.
Thinking about doing a fist run, but what to pick?
Elden Ring DLC should have a final boss that is immune to magic and summons to shit on casuals
>Respec into Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike
>Kill it in one hit
>Respec into my older build
Nah, have it be a true counter/mimic style boss.
>if you summon help it summons help
>if you use BS magic it uses BS magic
>if you heal it heals
And to top it off have it smack talk the player for using anything in the fight.
>strip off all armor and weapons
>remove all spells and incants from bar
>equip two madness seals
>drink all of my flasks
This is how a true mimic fight should be. We punch eachother's lights out until someone frenzies and dies.
>Roll up to final DLC boss ready to ring my little bell and mash L2 with my Blasphemous Blade into him
>Enter arena ring bell and start buffing
>Boss proceeds to whip his own bell out and summons a clone of itself as well
They should make it that if someone summons he himself summons a bunch of the most annoying enemies on the game to swarm you
How can Godfrey be a human when he’s like 20 ft tall?
Every fromsoft game makes a lot of the NPCs that arent other player models bigger then the player, if not outright giant. Hell even the basic soldiers and commoners are taller. Its a mix of gameplay and art stuff to make you feel like your facing against someone quite literally bigger in both power and importance.
the punch-out classic
>Radagon was shattered
>Elden beast was already injured
You never beat the golden order
>radagon is marika
why did the devs have to deadname?
I don't care if others think it's ugly, I like the unga 2 handed heavy and the fact that you go full primal dipshit and bodyslam with the ash. The fact that the fricking thing is bar none the strongest of its class and hits colossal sword AR is a nice perk.
It's not ugly but I hate how it has no arcane scaling despite being a dragon communion inspired weapon.
Lol

Use the golden order seal and SoNaF moron
i am using them moron
a +24 PoD staff fully charged ancient death rancor at 60/60 int/fai can't even kill a haligtree tiny trumpeteer
shit does no damage
meanwhile i could have just pumped everything into int and instantly killed it with a night comet
>i am using them moron
>is not using them
what did he mean by this
>make int/fai build
>you can't use sorceries at all because PoD staff fricking sucks
is that what you're telling me? why not just go full faith then
int/fai fricking sucks because the only benefit to it are those holy damage discs and sword of night and flame
so how should i set my character up for pvp? just get rid of the sorceries entirely and use mostly faith spells and sonaf?
Also don't sleep on magma sorceries, though I really don't need to go true int/fai for those.
>is that what you're telling me?
PoD sucks until you are overleveled beyond measure. Death sorceries also suck.
>why not just go full faith then
So you can use SoNaF and sorceries on the side (with a normal staff). 60 int is still respectable damage.
I used an Int/Fai build for one of my playthroughs and also took it to the PvP coliseums. It’s obviously not as good as some super optimized bleed build or pure INT bullshittery, but it does just fine. I’m not good at PvP, so if I can manage to win around half my fights, the build style is at least moderately viable.
>put in a frickton of weapons with a frickton of different weapon arts
>the moronic upgrade system prevents you to ever experiment with these weapons
What the frick were they thinking?
>A third of the games armor selection is recolors with a different coat of arms on their tabard.
>All of the metal is just slightly too off-colored to match.
>Armor altering 90% of the time just removes the fricking cape while gutting the stats because frick you
>Half of the remaining armor looks like a artist just trying to be "unique" instead of making something players would actually want to fricking wear.
>To top it off half the "unique" armor is a part of the murder hobo questline that doesn't show up until halfway through the game.
altering 90% of the time just removes the fricking cape while gutting the stats because frick you
It's not like armor stats mean shit outside of Limgrave since most of the later game bosses/enemies will 1 or 2 shot you.
unironically not true
How is it not? Any armor is negligible at best, the only reason to give a shit about armor stats after DS1 is for shit like resistances.
Such as wearing
>Radagon's Soreseal
Seals are only good for early game where you want to make up for a lack of stats to use the rare item. Again, I swapped around between shit like the Fingerprint set and other medium sets and the problem still persists with shit like Nail almost always killing in 2 or 3 hits.
>Just play a specific build to stack seven buffs to make the fact that armor in the game is almost completely pointless
No.
That is why we only level VIG until Radahn boyo, exactly as Mitsubishi masterfully intended.
>since most of the later game bosses/enemies will 1 or 2 shot you.
For the love of god LEVEL VIGOR.
>DUDE YOU NEED TO LEVEL VIGOR
Wrong
>go full tank with the best armor I have so far and embrace the fatroll
>30% damage reduction
>meh whatever let's not do that, midroll time
>20% damage reduction, usually more
Yeah what the frick is this.
With how they've kind of toned down scaling on offensive stats, Vigor is the best stat in the game for how high its returns are.
>talismans
>AOW
I'm guessing they will add new INT+FAI weapons and spells that aren't dogshit, but leave the old stuff dogshit because:
>"Frick you! Them being shit & designed wrong is our vision, Prease understando!"
They made a category of spells/incantations for it but then somehow forgot to add an Ashe of War category for them so now you're stuck playing a gimped version of an INT build or a gimped version of a FTH build.
This for fire and the inseparable sword for holy, you dont need anything else. the two strongest weapons in the game.
Why won't they buff my boy. It's a remembrance item and cost 50 FP why is it so shit? This is just another line to the Morgott mistreatment
>You now remember that Thorn Sorceries "exist"
I would use it if it was an incantation
>The guilty, their eyes gouged by thorns, lived in eternal darkness. There, they discovered the blood star.
>the guys that cast these hang out with flame monks
>Messmer is missing an eye
Messmer is bringing it back briar bros
Unfortunately you can only get his signature thorn spell by completing an elaborate jump puzzle to a evergaol to fight his twin brother Mossmer, The Skewerer. The spell in question is just Briars of Punishment but with three thorns instead of 1
>elaborate jump puzzle
It's been so long since I've done actual exploring in the game that I forgot that the DLC might be full of rooftop jump shit.
>Be spell design Dev
>completely ignore the dev that thinks arcane should be the bleed stat and is making cool Mohg blood incants
>"I want to rip off dead man wonderland that would be so cool"
>Genius idea of creating a staff for it that's a faith scaling staff, you know, like the gimmick staves in every souls game that are fricking useless because spells require int to use
>It's ok though, he'll make these spells have a high faith requirement to use.
>The spells are pretty much dog shit compared to the based Mohg Incants, hurting the player, slow to cast, worse damage and bleed build up.
>Fortunately a few players discover that the Albinauric Staff boosts the bleed of these spells due to how arcane scaling works
>"REEEEEEE NO YOU CAN'T JUST MAKE MY SPECIAL FAITH EDGELORD SPELLS USEFUL WITH homosexual ARCANE USE MUH STAFF OF THE GUILTY!"
>Proceeds to nerf Arcane scaling with Thorn Sorceries to complete dogshit
Seriously what was the fricking point?
>AOW isnt autistic
>Gets over 1k damage with softcaps and a minor buff
>roll punishes and range up the ass
if this weapon did any other damage type it would be beyond broken
>It's a mod
fug this would have been super cool
https://www.nexusmods.com/eldenring/mods/2896
i used lordsworn's straight sword the entire game.
upgraded to heavy
What's my build/loadout if I want to larp the Dark Souls Man from the box art of DS1? I'd like to use a bit of faith too if possible.
>larping as the protag from dark souls 1
Lightning spear and a long sword or greatsword that you can slap fire weapon on.
You can basically stomp him by just using a good blade that can use Bloody Slash and if you have a good summon to tank some hits.
I just spammed rock sling with the meteor staff at level 20.
I cheesed him with a +7 Death Ritual Spear once. He can't do much against ranged damage compared to how much of a c**t he is to fight in melee.
Astel isn't really that hard, most of his moves are heavily telegraphed, the only problem I had with him was that move he does that does like 3 AoE attacks, I had trouble dodging that as a melee player, as a mage you can just stay a safe distance away and spam magic.
>I had trouble dodging that as a melee player
have you tried using this?
uhhh thanks I guess
That was my favorite weapon but I made sure to beat bosses with first weapons so I can say I actually beat the game.
I haven't played the game since release, going through the patch notes and noticed that 1.10 adds poise to hyperarmor when attacking. How much of an effect does this have on pve?
What if you could like, power stance a sword and a shield...
They had that in dark souls 3.
If you timed it right you could block people's attack during yours and land stupid amounts of counter damage.
It'd be great. Theirs a straightsword moveset that includes a block as part of it but lack of physical block and decent guardboost hurts its usefulness and it not being a real shield means they don't recoil so no counter damage.
I'm still mad about the blanket guard boost nerf all weapons received after the network test. From had a great fricking idea and then killed it.
>Gravel Stone Seal
>The worship of the ancient dragons does not conflict with belief in the Erdtree. After all, this seal, and lightning itself, are both imbued with gold.
>Yet trading in any dragon cult book still gets the heresy remark from both Incantation mentors
???????????????
Corhyn thinks literally everything except the Golden Order incantations is heresy, including shit from the Two Fingers or their spies.
Turtle pope says the same line about every spell book
It's not about whether this particular one is heresy, he just thinks heresy is a spook in general
Hopefully we can get an unfricked Blasphemous Blade that isn't covered in snake guts for the DLC
God damn that sword looks gorgeous. The question is would it still be faith based, or would it be int based so you can use it with Magma spells.
How does scaling work with NG+ after one? I just beat 1, was thinking about going to 2, but I'm at 150 and not sure if I should just level up or not.
You are super overpowered the scaling is barely noticeable even on the third run
From has never done NG+ scaling right, Just sell all your upgrade material and use an unupgraded weapon.
It's a small increase, if you could cruise through ng+1, ng+2 won't be much different. I'm going to jump into the dlc on that, and we'll see how the dlc leveling mechanic works out.
>axe talisman
>spiked cracked tear
>meteoric ore blade
>R2 button
it's gaming time
you didn't.
If you ever encounter a blue that just gestures at you and t-bags your pussy ass when the red has their way with you, it's me.
Stop being a pussy and get good.
>equip the longsword
>it's about as long as an irl arming sword
>equip a greatsword
>it's about as long as an irl longsword
*sigh*
Japs are smaller people so they make their European swords smaller as well.
i hate having a sword on my shoulder so much
>sword probably weighs like 12lbs MAYBE
>bros dragging it across the floor and slamming it into the ground like he's trying to use a barbell as a weapon
absolutely fricking garbage annoying SHIT... and it's why the Hollow Slayer sword and any of the swords that share that elegant moveset are THE BEST.. even if DS2 sucked at least that sword is incredible.
It still pisses me off that none of the three weapons in elden ring that share the hollow slayer r1s have its poke r2.
I just put impaling thrust on to make up for it. It's a good AoW anyway
>Can I use a cool ash of war
>No I need to use impaling thrust to replicate the Hollow Slayer
You're not wrong, but it still annoys me.
the coolest ash of war is ordovis's vortex anyway and you can't put that on anything
Gravitas is actually pretty disgusting with the Reforged mod
I've got one with impaling thrust, another with sword dance, and a third with storm blade. All of them do wonders for catching poor bastards that inevitably try to escape after the second r1.
>hit two guard counters against godskin fatass using great stars
>he immediately kneels
Oh frick this might be even better than I thought for this run
Star Fists are the most OP weapon in the game, you just take two balls from the great star and wear them on your fist and they do insane stagger damage with the fastest charged R2 ever.
i hope we get more black flame weapons
soon
>love scythes
>love blackflame
i would never use another weapon
i hope we get more ghostflame and or destined death weapons or ashes of war.
My favorite Elden Ring Weapon, maybe even my favorite weapon from any Soulsborne game.
For me, it's the Warped Axe.
>greataxe status buildup when infused with Cold or Blood despite being a regular axe
>can use the fast spinning slash of small weapons
Pretty decent weapon.
Why does this ugly piece of shit get the cool unique moveset
God I wish there was another double-headed axe in the game
for me it's the radahn swords even if they suck
I always level it up just to genocide those red fricks for blood diamond money
ER's abomination of a power stance ruins it for me
You always hold the other sword like it's made of plastic. Dark Souls 2 did it better ffs
I wonder if there's a mod thar fixes it if only visually
DkS2 did a lot of things better, it just looked bad and had soul memory
I miss being able to powerstance two different classes, that was cool as shit
>this is better
>NO THIS IS BETTER
>that weapon/skill/spell is busted you can't use that!
Oh no, a weapon you get 80% into the game is broken! How horrible!
If you're gud enough, you can get it without touching a single legacy dungeon or fighting any bosses besides the Godskin Noble and Rykard.
if you're even guder you just cheat engine it at the start
>80% into the game
Are you moronic? Gelmir is not 80% into the game. You can even bumrush it and kill Rykard as your first demigod if you want.
Using Hephen Steeple and not dressings like a necromancer is a sin.
What about an edgy death knight?
One of the best themed builds posted in /erg/ lately in terms of aesthetic.
Why the shield though
Twinbird
So where do I buy and play Elden Ring now that Steam is woke trash?
steam
why is it so broken?
>weapon art hits 3000+ damage with minimal skill investment
>costs barely any FP
Go beyond the limits.
Let me guess, you need "less"
Henricus had the right idea. Maille and a big hammer
Oh, hey, there's a second person stuck with a 16:10 monitor beside me. Also a bucket helm enjoyer.
Bucket helms are peak fashion, anyone that says otherwise is a tasteless homosexual.
mah homie
Damn now this makes me wanna do yet another playthrough. Never saw any of the mods for this besides the co op one. How are they overall? Any recommendations?
I've tried a bit of Reforged and Convergence
>Reforged
>Childhood: Summoning for Radahn because you need the help
>Adolescence: Solo'ing Radahn to prove yourself
>Maturity: Summoning for Radahn because it's thematically appropriate
>elderly wisdom: Getting summoned for Radahn only to return to your world as quick as possible
I quite like the omen killer greataxe. It just looks neat.
Grafted greatsword is the best
will shadow of the erdtree be holy weapons time to shine?
I burned the world with the flames of chaos why is there a DLC
>I burned the world with the flames of chaos
you just activated the world's trap card and have been sent to the shadow world
