That's why they are cutting more and more from each generation. National dex will never return, same as the ability to have all of your pokemon on one game.
It would be cool if the dex entry acknowledged that with the discovery of this Pokemon 1000 Pokemon have been discovered. What would the Pokemon be? Who knows maybe something like Victini with a 1000 motif they can use for promotions.
