They're charging us to beta test for them? Weird, but par for the course with the early access wastelands that have been expanding for years.
After all, what is a prepurchase but an early access game with a window of days instead of years?
People who buy games before playing them are suckers.
Advanced access means games you get to play a day or two early because you prepurchased a deluxe version or whatever. It's not related to early access.
Day 1 games are equally unfinished, and are reserved for fomo cows.
It is sad, but games only really tend to become ironed out months later once people beta test the launch version and they get the bugs out.
It is a slightly different scenario with the same outcome. You bought an unfinished game and are completely at the mercy of the devs to make the game actually good.
The refund window isn't big enough to accommodate games that go to shit directly after the refund window, which isn't always related to ea and unfinished titles, but usually when they work on the game, most focus goes into that first couple hours to lock people in.
Just how they exploit the rules.
I think if you take the risk to prepurchase something without reviews and demos, you are a fool, but should still be granted more leniency with refunds because of that risk.
>Where Refunds Apply >The Steam refund offer, within two weeks of purchase and with less than two hours of playtime, applies to games and software applications on the Steam store.
https://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds
It is put plainly that 2 hours is the expected limit.
It doesn't forbid you from requesting a refund if you are over that limit, but you are not likely to get it.
under 2 hour gets you a no questions asked refund but you can refund games with longer play time if you have a valid reason

Okay. Do you think that disliking the game/the game is bad is valid enough to consistently grant a refund? I doubt it.

If the game has some kind of deliberate two hour long barrier before the actual game starts then you can explain that in the request and likely get a refund. I bought a game for co-op and got it refunded because my FRIEND got motion sick from playing it.
>automated response
No. It can take up to, like, 30 hours. It seems they review every single refund request
If you're refunding to steam wallet then it takes less than an hour from my experience.

I'm also speaking from experience. I have refunded several games in the last few months, it's not automated. >it takes less than an hour
Consider yourself lucky, idk
It doesn't really matter anyway, I just wanted to point out that at least sometimes it's not fast and they certainly take time to issue a refund

If you're under the playtime and days owned it's automatic. If you're above, It's manual

Obviously it only applies if you didn't play the game for more than 2 hours.
I played cybershit2077 for 14 hours on release and asked for a refund because the shit was buggy and absolutely no fun. They refused.
Plenty of others got their refunds for cyberjunk, guess you got a pajeet that was in a bad mood or phrased it poorly so you didn't convince him or sent it too early before it was common knowledge even for pajeets the game was dogshit

No. All of the games I refunded had less than 2 hours of playtime and less than 2 weeks since purchase. One took more than a day to be refunded.

I assume they didn't play more than 2 hours. >it was common knowledge even for pajeets the game was dogshit
Ganker says it's good
I'd say it sucked even if it didn't have millions of horrible, immersion-breaking bugs

Just say "it keeps crashing", obviously not gonna work if you've got 300 hours played but should work up to 10
Well yeah, but that's on people dumb enough to buy day 1 in current year. This just closes a loophole where they could order a deluxe edition, play for a couple of days and then refund it when it got unlocked for everyone.
You are a stupid Black person moron, this is not about "early access" games, you illiterate wienersucker.
Besides, what you just described was never a thing, you could never refund "early access" games after playing them for hundreds of hours. Early access games had the same refund rules as full release games.
>early access ends >game becomes a slog
Don't buy Early access games. Problem solved.
OR send death threats to the developers using hundreds of alts and emails registered to cheap, one-use phone numbers from shady russian marketplaces, which is also a valid course of action when a game fails to meet your expectations
>you could never refund "early access" games after playing them for hundreds of hours >preorders only last
Early access is not preorder. I didn't talk about preorders
Black person, YOU'RE LEGITIMATELY moronic, HOLY SHIT.
>You don't even understand what the thread is about.
It's YOU, Black person, who still can't understand what this thread is about.
It's about special pre-order access, where you pre-order the game and get to play it a week or so before the full release. Not early access games that are fully released, but unfinished games. It's about cases like this
And?
You should be surprised that wasn't the case before
I remember how some people preordered starfield, played it for a week and then refunded it, because it had that "preorder access", but the playtime didn't count until the full release. Which is moronic
Early access games mentioned in this post
>early access ends >game becomes a slog >money stolen
you will own nothing!
have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the topic of this thread.
Understand?
YOU ARE A STUPID FRICKING Black person AND YOU SHOULD have a nice day

While it doesn't take a week to figure out Bethesda has never made a good game ever, people coping that it'll get better later can easily blow past 2 hours in a rpg.
The refund window is abused to scam customers. They were absolutely in the right to refund that garbage game while they could.
>buy game, download it and open it >turn off the internet and play completely offline >use your browser, log into steam and apply for a refund
Yes it is that simple if someone wants to take advantage of refund system.
>it's YOU
ironically not giving you anymore you's or reading your moronic gibberjabber. at no point did you understand anything. you came in with the most moronic sideways gibberish. convinced you're illiterate
