losslessly compressed or uncompressed textures and audio. the actual reason for this is debated, obstensibly performance but decompression isn't very costly. some say it's to deter piracy or to limit the number of games you can have installed so you're more focused on new game just installed.
models don't take much space relatively, even high poly (the 'high' poly models the game ships with, not the production models for normal baking/etc)

NTA but this will still be super fricking out of date. The UK is getting FTTP rolled out across the entire country. >went form 70 down 20 up to 910 up/down and at the same fricking price
>Live in the country >Had 5mbits for a year >Bitched so frequently to them. >Have 40mbits now. >Fiber to wifi on the way.
Karens seem to have the right idea.
I can get starlink but being in Canada theres no way to get like a local warranty for it, I just would hate to pay $1k down and have something go wrong on the dish then have to wait potentially forever to get any support or just have to buy another.
Also the new version is gay with its wifi only need to buy a separate dongle to even hook it wired to another router.
lazy and incompetent devs
or intentional sabotage. games these days are largely live service. they want you to continue playing their game forever so they can nickel and dime you for years with minimal extra development. the fewer such games you have at your fingertips, the less competition there is to get into your wallet
Why not? In few years you're gonna be making posts like "why are modern games like this?" when it's 500gb game and be all like "120gb games, now that was the best shit"
>"HEY LET'S NOT EVEN BOTHER OPTIMIZING OUR SHIT." >"THAT'LL SHOW THOSE FRICKERS WHO BUY OUR GAMES!" >"WHY SHOULD THEY HAVE ANYTHING ELSE ON THEIR COMPUTERS? FRICK THEM AND THEIR HARDWARE!" >"WHO GIVES A SHIT IF IT WON'T EVEN RUN? THESE FRICKERS WILL BUY IT ANYWAY."

But you have to live near browns and blacks with elevated cortisol levels from being cramped into a concrete hellhole to get those speeds.
nah. live in mid-suffolk
Depends on where you live. My ass is in Scotland and it's still mostly white.
They're trying to convince you to actually play good games

Are you in Alberta? You don't have to tell me where just if you're a westy or an easty.
They skip compression because they don't want you to have many other games besides their own on your console/device.
Also, if the game is so big you'll be less inclined to uninstall it just to avoid having to download it all again.

You now remember that frickspoken is 150GB with one tenth of the content of RDR2.

Western devs are years ahead of orientals though
>Western devs are decades behind of orientals though
>not including enix or crapcum
fifty
that's not even that bad considering how big RDR2, especially compared to other mdoern games of similar GBs
>recently got gigabit
>now laugh at all filesizes
Because (You) buy them
they are modern, you said it yourself. Want fancy graphics? Have storage.
Because they're fricking huge
