Agreed but surely any thinking person only gets scammed by an early access game once?

what's worse is they quite literally take 2-3 years each update. to say they're milking this is an understatement.

      That's not what milking means

Please understand, the dev got his laptop stolen. And he didn't upload his code to any code base. Any of them. Or even to a USB drive. He was just naive and he got robbed. Please understand.

Also his dog died, and his mom got sick, and he is struggling with a mysterious illness, and ya know!

they only lost a single month of development progress because of that robbery

His laptop got stolen, then an earthquake toppled a building on top of his spare laptop. Then a flood ruined his next two laptops (the flood came back for a follow up robbery-flood, y'know?). And finally his dog ate his laptop just before his 50 word essay was due.
        Totally normal stuff lmao.

there was never any flood, you are mistaking it with Hello Games

I'm still convinced both the flood and robbery were completely fabricated as an excuse to stop developing the game. it was only when users were talking about legal action did the devs go "uhm ackshually we were always going to continue development, us previously saying we didn't feel like it was worth continuing was just us feeling sorry for ourselves!" and so they begrudgingly carried on

But Project Zomboid is actually, continually, making significant leaps in progress.
Unlike the steaming shitheap that is Seven Days to Die. I can't wait until the next "Alpha" update comes around and the bonehead Dev announces he's going to scrap everything again for some stupid new system to shuck corn by-hand with real physics.

I'd normally agree with that, but game is got far more content already than most goyslop "full" releases as for late so I don't care

if it had any meaningful content, the forums wouldn't be full of people complaining that the game lacks any sort of midgame and endgame or literally any incentive for long term play
      >b-b-but it's sandbox!!!
a sandbox with nothing to do
      >b-b-b-but B42 will fix it!!!
it would have to come out first

Steam should make it so you have to be 1.0 after 5 years.

honestly that would filter devs like this so hard but in the long term it would be far better

Nah. Just dont buy it. I didn't. The game looks mid as frick.

    >no you don't understand, the game says this is how you died, so the game is supposed to not have any meaningful gameplay, objectives, enemies
    >you have to find the meaning yourself

C:DDA chads have been enjoying endgame content for a decade.

So much so that there has never been a single thread about cdda and the only times sometimes mentions it is in zomboid breads

nobody wants to play your autistic text game

        >So much so that there has never been a single thread about cdda
We used to have them with the kind of niche regularity you'd expect, this was in the post-DCSS superiority era of the early late 00's/early 10's.

Nowadays it's WAY too niche and complex for the audience here. Der Zoomer cowers and shits themselves at ASCII.

zoomies would rather play a game that looks pretty but has no content rather than a game that looks like shit but has tons of content

Or maybe, just maybe it's because real time gameplay and actual graphics is more fun than text based autism.
More isn't always better, especially when it looks and plays like it does
          >but you can customize your vehicle
          Ok

            >real time gameplay and actual graphics is more fun than text based autism
You're wrong. Turn-based driving in C:DDA is more intense than any moment of Zomboid I've played.

And stripping apart military vehicles to turn your RV into a rolling turret-mounted deathmobile with your own carefully-loaded go-bags and a full workshop and kitchen built in was one of the most satisfying experiences I've ever had in a game.

Playing Zomboid felt so shallow and cheap.

its ok when zombie games do it. also i think ark leaving early access and causing a lot of controversy made people more likely to keep the label as long as possible
