I got to gale 3 a few times but some of the parties I'm in get stuck on azdaja shadow, specifically the light party one because people get killed by cleave + AOE, or panic the second the stack marker shows up despite attempting the mechanic 10 fricking times and it being explained each time.
Fricking how it's so easy and you don't even need to remember the tell because it's slow enough to just do on reaction thanks to the generous AoE markers.
I don't know dude, I've seen people jump around the entire time and frick up everything and healers stand completely still like they expect the game to go slowmo so they can react to shit.

P11s is really easy though anon. Maybe it's because the first and 2nd floor are harder than the last two tier this time round but by comparison p11s feels very easy
what role are you? i play melee. i thought p9s was a joke, and p10s was alright. p11s was the first fight where i felt dps mattered, which means i could frick up and die in p9s or p10s but i had to stay alive in p11s to get my kill
I am also melee but the main difference is p10s/p9s are more punishing on mistakes. Mechanically p11s is very easy and made the dps check a non issue.
Overall the dps checks this tier are really not that bad seeing as they probably got scared after last tier. In saying that this tier is mechanically harder than last tier
If you are on PF or in a group without tome weapons the DPS check in P11S can actually cut it reslly close. If you are on a group with 2 or more tome weapons it's almost free.

the stack also targets the furthest player therefore you can do sort of a Y formation where the numbers go north/south, the party stays mid opposite the numbers and a tank goes to the wall and eats the stack with their invuln

the meta of this tier and probably whole raiding going further is to go in blind, solve shit, clear asap, unsub and play another game.
My static recleared p9s and p10s in 30 minutes with only 1 wipe, it was awesome. p11s prog is going steadily, it's a fun fight.
These things are hard to judge, especially since I'm not even halfway through the tier, but I think it's better than both Abyssos and Asphodelos.
So what content are we expecting from 6.5/6.55? Surely we are still missing some content and previous expansions normally still have some left. It just sucks we don't have a bozja/eureka to fall back on.

I'm kinda grateful for them when I have a mandatory dungeon during dead hours since I play dps, yeah the bots sucks, yeah it's long, but 30 minutes is better than just shitting around for one and a half hour so I can actually move on.
I also kinda expect it's a useful tool for tank players to discover a dungeon at their pace since everyone and their mothers always expect the tank player to know everythings perfectly from the get go.

There is one trick you can use though. Or two, depending on your level of patience. The first is that as long as you're a DPS, the trust DPS/healer/tank can handle a standard double-pull. The slow clear times partially come from the way they refuse to use meaningful AoE prior to the EW dungeons, so by grabbing all that shit you can at least burn it down yourself. The second trick is that the trio can also handle any single pack entirely by themselves, so if you're feeling lazy you can aggro and then frick off to a safe distance to afk until you stop hearing combat happening.

That's easy though, make the dungeon in the First when we go collect a bunch of aether to shoot it at Zeromus. We grab Ryne, Lyna, and one or two more losers (could be the bounty hunters, could be some random Crystarium soldiers, or maybe they'll get fricking daring for once and let us use Feo Ul or the characters that are actually related to the 13th) and we've got a trust going on.

Nah, she can perfectly flesh out older characters. She just seems way less reliable at it, but even then she can still hit the mark. I'd be willing to believe the reason she fricks up at that sometimes is that it's always harder to write for a character someone else created, either because you have to work with them and they might have different ideas on where to go with that character or because you're afraid if you change them too much you might ruin them. Remember that a bunch of characters Ishikawa created got killed when someone else was writing, so she probably hates it when someone does that.

I'm sorry WoL, I really just thought we'd have a fun, relaxing time exploring the 13th, looking for a lost dragon. I didn't think we would immediately find an interdimensional space conqueror trying to carry out an extermination campaign on the global population...
We need a settingskip that moves just the player character to another time/place/whatever so we can actually have some fun. The scions keep the story on rails and the lore is hamstrung by the ancients and the memory of 1.0.
You have a group of characters that herd you through the story and by their mere presence let you know that nothing dangerous or shocking will ever happen because they all have plot armor. This is why XI gave you a new supporting cast with each expansion and why ShB was partially so interesting, because the setting wasn't stuck trying to appease 1.0/ARR problems.

When you've got a character like Thancred who has been your companion throughout the entire game and who has no reason at all to quit, you don't just toss him into a bin because you're "done" with him, you either have him stick around or you give an ACTUAL reason why he wouldn't come along anymore. An anon linked to posts from the SB period of the game and already there were people there saying Thancred was "done" and they should get rid of him. AND HE WASN'T EVEN HALFWAY THROUGH WITH HIS CHARACTER ARC.

The devs are tripping over themselves to make excuses for the scions at this point all because people are insanely attached to them and would lose interest in the game if they were moved to the side. What, did you fricking think the plotline about the shards would NOT involve Y'shtola after she was the one that said she wanted to explore them all and see if they were in danger post-ascian trickery? When? And even if his story is over, what do you expect, for him to retire at 30 years old? Absolute worst scenario is that he'd just hang around a bit more until he finds a reason to stop working as a Scion, and THEN he drops out of the story. The same way Lyse did. And the other possibility is that he simply finds some other new focus now that he's done raising Ryne. Not every Scion entered the story with a clear goal from the first moment, some of them had to first do a bit of adventure before finding something they particularly cared about. Alisaie only started caring about the tempering stuff once she met Ga Bu, Urianger only started doing the schemes once the opportunity presented itself, etc.

Still playing soccer in 9 with my static, honestly getting sick of the way fights are designed in this game. Every fight is just a bunch of gotcha moments in a row until you learn the routine. It doesn't even feel like a game anymore, just memorization and hoping everyone else has memorized everything too.

In the narrative, it's meant to be a trust thing. They (temporarily) give up their life because they know you will see it through. Their very essence is spurring you forth, believing that you will be able to reach Meteion and put an end to it and bring them back.
Of course, given that we're in a game where we need to win, people can say "well, duh, they were never in real danger", but in the context of the story itself, that was still the point that the writers tried to convey.

It's been the lowest dps tank for almost 4 years. WAR also has had it's invuln nerfed in EW, has the least amount of mitigation of all the tanks, and has what is tied for the worst party utility.
Maybe if you have no healer and only have to take 1 buster the entire fight

In EW they started attaching other effects to busters and other heavy damage portions of the fight and that makes Holmgang a lot less attractive in most cases. It's still the shortest cooldown which is very useful but it's not fire and forget like the other 3, healers have to baby you through it.
It's also the longest cd one and considering how fricking easy it is to recover health as a tank, that pretty much just makes it good for the single purpose of using it at the start of a pull instead of once you get low.
(Which is actually pretty cool since I never have any healers that let me go down enough on the other tanks).
drk ironically has more sustainability in a fight like p10s
and war's invuln is a lot clunkier to use in places like harrowing hell because of its shorter timer

There's a very slight range of randomness to the color values changed each feeding. If you try to do the whole thing in one shot it's a lot easier to miss the target. You want to work your way in slowly, but on the bright side, you're probably close enough now to get there with one more session without an issue.

Yeah, that's pretty much the long and the short of it. Another needlessly complex system they added during 2.x when they were still sniffing a few of the fumes from 1.x. Your chocobo's color is a plain set of 0-255 RGB values. The game looks at the bird's numbers, and then picks the color from the table of available chocobo colors that's the closest numerically to that value. Three of the fruits are RGB additive modifications to the value, and three are CYMK subractives. Each number shift from feeding has a range; I want to say it's 3-5 per color channel, but don't quote me on that since I haven't had to mess with this for like 12 years.
It doesn't need to be like that, and I'm certain it'll never, ever change because the average doesn't give a frick about their chocobo and would rather run around in their giant, neon knot wienered shiny cash shop mount.

If you like that, bear in mind that back in 2014 we had no idea how the frick any of this worked. The game doesn't explain it, and SE refused to give up any details. It was only through a bunch of people autistically poring over tens of thousands of player-submitted samples that we eventually figured out the math and methods behind the color picking. We were used to this because FFXI also refused to explain any of its mechanics along with the devs being coy or outright lying when asked, and we had to brute force our understanding of absolutely all of that too.

today I learned that before level 72 if you have any spell speed at all and aren't 2.5 recast summoner actually does more damage by completely ignoring garuda gemshine and just doing ruin 3 if nothing better is up unless the faster cast lets you squeeze in hits where a normal ruin 3 wouldn't land or you need to move
and since during the same level range titan gemshine is the same potency as ruin 3, there's a good argument to be had that its optimal to do ruin 3 for the majority of your time and save gemshines for movement while cycling through garuda as fast as possible under buffs
That's useful information for level 70 ultimates where summoner does ridiculous damage.
Then again even without summoner shitting out damage the dps checks are a total joke now so it really doesn't matter besides getting a nice color on the funny number website.

I got to gale 3 a few times but some of the parties I'm in get stuck on azdaja shadow, specifically the light party one because people get killed by cleave + AOE, or panic the second the stack marker shows up despite attempting the mechanic 10 fricking times and it being explained each time.
Fricking how it's so easy and you don't even need to remember the tell because it's slow enough to just do on reaction thanks to the generous AoE markers.

P11 has nothing to die to unless you forget what purple or yellow colors mean, it's by far the easiest fight in the tier.
I am also melee but the main difference is p10s/p9s are more punishing on mistakes. Mechanically p11s is very easy and made the dps check a non issue.
Overall the dps checks this tier are really not that bad seeing as they probably got scared after last tier. In saying that this tier is mechanically harder than last tier
If you are on PF or in a group without tome weapons the DPS check in P11S can actually cut it reslly close. If you are on a group with 2 or more tome weapons it's almost free.

My static recleared p9s and p10s in 30 minutes with only 1 wipe, it was awesome. p11s prog is going steadily, it's a fun fight.
These things are hard to judge, especially since I'm not even halfway through the tier, but I think it's better than both Abyssos and Asphodelos.

Trusts are a forward thinking feature to ensure that the main road block that unlocks access to the entire game remains accessible even when the population eventually dwindles. Of course, I don't think they were expecting the game to have a massive second wind prior to EW's launch.
I'm kinda grateful for them when I have a mandatory dungeon during dead hours since I play dps, yeah the bots sucks, yeah it's long, but 30 minutes is better than just shitting around for one and a half hour so I can actually move on.
I also kinda expect it's a useful tool for tank players to discover a dungeon at their pace since everyone and their mothers always expect the tank player to know everythings perfectly from the get go.

it is literally balanced to take around 30 minutes. Their damage will even increase or decrease based on your own so it always takes right around 30 minutes.
There is one trick you can use though. Or two, depending on your level of patience. The first is that as long as you're a DPS, the trust DPS/healer/tank can handle a standard double-pull. The slow clear times partially come from the way they refuse to use meaningful AoE prior to the EW dungeons, so by grabbing all that shit you can at least burn it down yourself. The second trick is that the trio can also handle any single pack entirely by themselves, so if you're feeling lazy you can aggro and then frick off to a safe distance to afk until you stop hearing combat happening.

We grab Ryne, Lyna, and one or two more losers (could be the bounty hunters, could be some random Crystarium soldiers, or maybe they'll get fricking daring for once and let us use Feo Ul or the characters that are actually related to the 13th) and we've got a trust going on.

Nah, she can perfectly flesh out older characters. She just seems way less reliable at it, but even then she can still hit the mark. I'd be willing to believe the reason she fricks up at that sometimes is that it's always harder to write for a character someone else created, either because you have to work with them and they might have different ideas on where to go with that character or because you're afraid if you change them too much you might ruin them. Remember that a bunch of characters Ishikawa created got killed when someone else was writing, so she probably hates it when someone does that.

When? And even if his story is over, what do you expect, for him to retire at 30 years old? Absolute worst scenario is that he'd just hang around a bit more until he finds a reason to stop working as a Scion, and THEN he drops out of the story. The same way Lyse did. And the other possibility is that he simply finds some other new focus now that he's done raising Ryne. Not every Scion entered the story with a clear goal from the first moment, some of them had to first do a bit of adventure before finding something they particularly cared about. Alisaie only started caring about the tempering stuff once she met Ga Bu, Urianger only started doing the schemes once the opportunity presented itself, etc.

Still playing soccer in 9 with my static, honestly getting sick of the way fights are designed in this game. Every fight is just a bunch of gotcha moments in a row until you learn the routine. It doesn't even feel like a game anymore, just memorization and hoping everyone else has memorized everything too.
Honestly, it feels like as of late they're making more and more mechanics in fights into hard body checks. It's starting to feel a little egregious with one person dying at the wrong time punishing everyone.
That's a result of healer design being so dogshit. They completely ruined the role in ShB.

It's been the lowest dps tank for almost 4 years. WAR also has had it's invuln nerfed in EW, has the least amount of mitigation of all the tanks, and has what is tied for the worst party utility.

No because damage is irrelevant. All that matters is that it keeps you from dying. Holmgang has the shortest cooldown and is therefore the strongest.
In EW they started attaching other effects to busters and other heavy damage portions of the fight and that makes Holmgang a lot less attractive in most cases. It's still the shortest cooldown which is very useful but it's not fire and forget like the other 3, healers have to baby you through it.
Healers don't even use half their buttons since damage is so low even in savage.
Maybe if you have no healer and only have to take 1 buster the entire fight

It's also the longest cd one and considering how fricking easy it is to recover health as a tank, that pretty much just makes it good for the single purpose of using it at the start of a pull instead of once you get low.
(Which is actually pretty cool since I never have any healers that let me go down enough on the other tanks).

There's a very slight range of randomness to the color values changed each feeding. If you try to do the whole thing in one shot it's a lot easier to miss the target. You want to work your way in slowly, but on the bright side, you're probably close enough now to get there with one more session without an issue.

Yeah, that's pretty much the long and the short of it. Another needlessly complex system they added during 2.x when they were still sniffing a few of the fumes from 1.x. Your chocobo's color is a plain set of 0-255 RGB values. The game looks at the bird's numbers, and then picks the color from the table of available chocobo colors that's the closest numerically to that value. Three of the fruits are RGB additive modifications to the value, and three are CYMK subractives. Each number shift from feeding has a range; I want to say it's 3-5 per color channel, but don't quote me on that since I haven't had to mess with this for like 12 years.
It doesn't need to be like that, and I'm certain it'll never, ever change because the average doesn't give a frick about their chocobo and would rather run around in their giant, neon knot wienered shiny cash shop mount.

If you like that, bear in mind that back in 2014 we had no idea how the frick any of this worked. The game doesn't explain it, and SE refused to give up any details. It was only through a bunch of people autistically poring over tens of thousands of player-submitted samples that we eventually figured out the math and methods behind the color picking. We were used to this because FFXI also refused to explain any of its mechanics along with the devs being coy or outright lying when asked, and we had to brute force our understanding of absolutely all of that too.

today I learned that before level 72 if you have any spell speed at all and aren't 2.5 recast summoner actually does more damage by completely ignoring garuda gemshine and just doing ruin 3 if nothing better is up unless the faster cast lets you squeeze in hits where a normal ruin 3 wouldn't land or you need to move
and since during the same level range titan gemshine is the same potency as ruin 3, there's a good argument to be had that its optimal to do ruin 3 for the majority of your time and save gemshines for movement while cycling through garuda as fast as possible under buffs

Why are there no learning parties for P11S? Have not that many people gotten to it in PF?
P10S is walling a ton of people, and people don't need long to learn P11S because it is a joke compared to P10S aside from its DPS requirement, which itself is quickly becoming a joke too as people gear up.
What should I do then, because I really want to learn P11S, but it might be my server because I'm on Primal?
