Is 1440p a meme? why would I ruin my 6600 xt's performance when I can play at max settings on 1080p just fine?

4k is worth it and has been since 2015
>comparing resolutions when the viewers device is most likely only 1080p and the image is compressed
view an in person comparison to see if it's worth it to you.
1440p120 looks great on my 6600xt
Elden Ring in particular maxes out just fine on my rig, and right now I've been enjoying Sunbreak too.
This is also the issue with these images. Will you actually see the difference in resolution if you aren't using a monitor that supports the resolution? A 1080p game blown up to 1440p isn't going to have an integer scale, and suffer from scroll shimmering and blurriness, but will look nice and crisp on a 1080p monitor since you're just using a 1:1 pixel scale.
>copypasting the same shot 3 times and trying to pass them off as different resolutions
You ought to be ashamed.
post an image that isn't 720p and I'll answer your question.
it depends on the size of your screen/dpi and how far away you are sitting from it
because the difference is night and day.
>surely you'll be able to see the difference through this highly compressed jpg image
Yes, morons cant cope that their Ngreedia cards cant Le Gay Tracing in 4k with decent FPS then they had to choose a lower res to shill and meme about
Anything above 1080p and 60fps is a meme.
I have a 4K screen and the difference between 1080p and 4K only becomes noticeable in more recent games that use heavy TAA.
Higher resolution will do more for image quality than any settings you can crank. Especially antialiasing is best solved with just higher resolutions.
1440plet here, still haven't had the chance to upgrade to 4k.
1440p is great for productivity as you can fit more windows onto your screen, but this is Ganker so specifically for video games its akin to putting on a pair of glasses. You will see big improvements in fps games where you need to see far away enemies. 1080p is fine, but once you go 1440 you can't go back except for your second monitors or whatever.
>1080p is fine, but once you go 1440 you can't go back
I use 4K screen and have no problems going back to 1080p. Integer scaling is a godsend.
Anon he meant the monitor not the resolution
1080p looks okay on 1440p but not sharp as native just as is with any resolution
but at least with old games you have better scaling on 1440p
but 4k is kinda moronic unless you have insane hardware to push it unless you exclusively play games from early 2000s and 90s
I still think that 1080 60fps is all you really need. I wanted to get a 27" 1440 monitor but those seem to have dissapeared off the face of the earth. i ended up getting a 4k 32" proart for a really good price and i havent looked back. I dont think i ever will tbh. Id say just skip 1440, 4k can be had for cheap and its worthwhile.
4k makes a big difference graphically, especially if you can still max out the game, sometimes you might still need AA contrary to what a lot of people say if you really care about jaggy power lines or wires or whatever.
I'd still wait a bit to get it though unless you either only play older games, which defeats a lot of the graphical upgrade, or are comfortable dropping close to $1000 on a gpu
4K in older games is very often not worth it, the difference between (integer scaled) 1080p and 4K is just slightly more clear image, it feels like a better AA setting, it's not a game changer, and often the UI is fricked up at 4K, with miniscule text and HUD that don't scale.
Also that's just my opinion, but at 4K even FSR 1.0 does a good enough job of scaling in modern games. You practically don't notice the upscaling blur that much with pixel density that high.
