i think i heard somewhere a good amount are gonna be empty but out of the way for modders to have a blank canvas

Im not even mad about empty space being a feature after how in Skyrim you could only build one house in one place, made it feel like a mid tier mod instead of a real expansion pack upgrade

Well my friend its simple. He's fricking lying? It takes bethesds more then a decade to release that the next tes is in pre developement, you think that lazy gay will get his team to handcraft even more then 100 worlds when they cant do 1?

      Anonymous

Todd never lies, he only stretches the truth.

They never said all the planets are handcrafted.
Instead, all the planets use proc-generation as a base layer, and then the artists/level-designers go over, placing structures and points of interest on-top.
Many planets are going to have absolutely nothing on it, but it just means there is room for modders to eventually add whatever they want.

The world detail is impeccable in their games, so I can believe that.
Every single road, valley or lake in skyrim has something to see.
They fail at writing and gameplay, but their worlds are good.

once you master the art of CTRL+C, you'll understand

  8. 2 years ago

If the planets are proceduraly generated but not static than it will be a dream game.
Any dynamic changes to the planets and stations that are directly consequences of how you play the game than it will be the game of the decade.
As in you build your base on one planet and establish some trade with other stations and planets in the system, and then destroy some station or anything like that.

Makes you wonder if it's going to be the biggest of all time if you consider the fact that it's going to have 40000 handcrafted planets.

The entire point of colonies is that they produce resources and also ships seem to be able to haul cargo (it's a stat and there's visible cargo containers on some ships)

sure its because its boring not because their shitty engine cannot handle that

If their engine can handle to scale spherical planets (still to be seen) it can handle seamless transitions because the only problem with it is real time load streaming.

It is incredibly fricking boring. Unless it's a specific gameplay focus element (Kerbal, Rings of Saturn) it adds this massive time sink that sucks ass.
Everyone sane already mods the power armor animation in 4 to be super quick, do you want a twenty fricking minute version of that because your dumb ass that's only ever watched BedBanana's star citizen video and has never touched any actual space kino thinks it's what makes good space games good?

by using random generation tools to make 14,950 barren useless planets with resource gathering nodes and some copy paste bandit camps on them and if you're lucky you actually get 50 that bethesda people actually added specific things to

      Anonymous

wouldn't you want a good portion of barren planets if part of the gameplay is to set up colonies

Trying to set up a mining facility on a toxic hellfire wasteland sounds good if all of their systems like the modular spaceship, crewmembers, and rovers play a role in it, not just landing and opening up the settlement menu, like you have to select your tools for the job and it's dangerous but you have a plan kindof feeling

It will be just opening a settlement menu, with maybe some planetary types needing some specific quest/item to unlock.
