No Damage: Normal, Ghost, Dragon, Electric, Ground, Fighting, Poison, Psychic
1/16 Resist: Bug, Grass
1/2 Resist: Steel, Dark
Normal Damage: Flying, Fire, Water, Ice, Fairy
Weak to rock
stealth rock chads, we won
So...
Tetapagos has 3 forms?
Terapagos (Normal)
Terapagos (Terastal)
Terapagos (Teramax, the one shown in the Book)
Do you think we'll get the Terastal form without Terastallizing
Teramax makes sense to be locked to Terastallizing though
>Terapagos (Teramax, the one shown in the Book)
I wouldn't get my hopes up on that.
>Terapagos (Terastal)
>Terapagos (Teramax, the one shown in the Book)
Those are the same, anon.
I thought that earlier too, but the crown they show when revealing the 19th Tera Type is a literal 1-to-1 Match with the crown on Book!Terapagos' back.
No they're not, Ogerpon's special form is called a "terastallized state".
Also Terapagos in its "terastal form" doesn't glow like Ogerpin does.
Huh, funny that. Friend of mine told me "What if we get a 19th type but only legendaries could use it" and i guess that was a good idea. Although he told me he stole that from a YouTuber
there has to be some lore significance between arceus whole multitype shtick and presumably terapagos inventing a 19th type outside of arceus' capabilities
>Terapagos is actually Beelzebub/Lucifer/Whoever defies god
>Giratina is just some emo kid banned to the shadow realm
makes alot of sense if the inspiration for terapagos turns out to be correct
huh, thats cool.
>Satan and the devil are the same
>in the bible
>Miraidon being a cyberdemon because some DOOM science
Cool but israeli and /x/
He literally called God and Satan the same being too. I didn't read all of it but it's definitely moronic.
it's gnosticism
he's not moronic but it is a meme religion that never actually existed in a form anywhere close to the way the internet thinks it did
it’s the demiurge, look it up. it’s supposed to be religious nuts trying to rationalize why god was such an butthole in the old testament but suddenly became all-loving when jesus came around.
in this case terapagos is the israelite god and arceus is the loving christian god
21st type TECHNICALLY, since there's also the Shadow type (resistant to all types except Shadow, which it's weak to), and the ??? type, which isn't really an elaborated type, but Arceus has a sprite for a ???-type form.
>resistant to all types except Shadow, which it's weak to
Whoops no, I had that backwards. Shadow MOVES are super effective against all types except Shadow, which resist them.
Yeah, it was Ttar who said it.
nah you can change it with new type of shards
It's not Terapagos only, we see it on Baxcalibur
https://scarletviolet.pokemon.com/en-us/news/new_tera_type/
>new type gets added
>it'll most certainly be dropped the next gen because it's tied to this instalment's gimmick
Yaaaaay.
I wish I could be excited, but knowing that it'll join U Necrozma and Eternamax in the void come gen 10, I just can't but feel apathetic.
>It's no exclusive
Oh frick
Why use any other Tera type when you can go omni?
>You are now neutral to everything
>Your Tera Blast does neutral damage to everything
How is Gen 10 supposed to top this?
There will not be Gen 10.
I remember the good ol days when ppl thought Pokekon would've died after Gen 2
I love this mechanic, I think it's really cool - but also as an exdev for Pokémon Azurite...
I'm starting to get creeped out by the similarities between Crystallization (the mechanic the Azurite team thought about years ago when the project started) and Terastallization lmao. I'm not saying they copied us or anything, but I do find it really amusing. I'm no longer associated with that fangame project but lol
That's pretty interesting actually.
Seems like something that would happen eventually though
Oh definitely, I don't think it's intentional or anything. I think it's a mechanic that was bound to happen eventually in some way or another, because the idea of changing a Pokémon's type isn't really difficult to come up with and it seems in-line with something Game Freak would do.
But I did find it really amusing how this silly idea we had since 2017 has now practically become """canon""".
Sometimes people just have similar ideas. I implemented modern Teleport mechanics into my game before Let's Go released.
>The unkillable Swords Dance Lando who can hit flying types while he's behind a Substitute
HIS GAME
pokemon tcg had crystal type back 2002
what?
I miss when the TCG would get creative with weaknesses and resistances.
wouldn't this ability be a self-contradiction lol
No, basic is an unevolved Pokemon. Muk is stage 1.
What the frick is with that energy on Division?
Nothing, you can use the attack for free.
used to be just no energy would be there I'm pretty sure, I feel like that was more self explanatory
Makes me think I need glasses looking at it
Yeah, it was way better back in gen 4 when it looked like there was an energy missing instead of a nondescript circle.
Don't know if there were no-energy attacks prior to that, I fell out of it in gen 2 and only picked it back up in gen 7.
Remember Deltas?
I still have this card from when I bought a deck.
Azurite is never coming out and that makes me sad. There were some fun designs in it.
>the icon used to represent it is even the same shape
kinda fricked up
It's a crystal. There are only like three visual shorthand shapes to represent crystals. Pokemon Crystal Version on the Gamboy Color used basically the same symbol.
Suicune's a walking representation of it to this day, for frick's sake.
Are you sure this isn't just a typeless type? No super effective, weaknesses or immunities.
>Aurorus gets saved for exactly 1 generation before it becomes bad again
Nope.
I'm guessing that symbol just means it'll turn into a terramax form instead of terrastalizing regularly. If the terramax forms get stat boosts I can see each one being locked into a specific type, or they could be an omni/neutral type like other anons have suggested.
They showed its crown.
They showed the crown for the 19th type already? I missed that, does anyone have a pic
Not sure if that's really the crown or not. It's much much shorter and smaller than all the others. It's probably just an advertising visual.
In the video, it bobs back and forth as if it was attached to a Pokemon's head.
I don't think that will be the crown exactly, probably just the tera by itself symbol or the hexagons in the type icon
tera symbol by itself*
seems possibly like teramax terapagos turns into a crown that can be worn by other pokemon to also give them a teramax transformation if that's what this image is implying
If that were true the Terrablast move wouldn't also have that symbol.
So if it is a new type, what could they even be adding?
Rainbow Type
It's either Light based (think spectrum of light) or pure "energy".
How can anyone be excited for this? it's just going to get cut next game.
If it's neutral to everything and no weaknesses, how would wonder guard work?
It wouldn't, it'd impossible to kill with direct attacks.
What makes it different to ??? type when you let's say use Burn Up of Arcanine?
There has to be a difference.
>Teramax Shedinja
we're so fricking back
It would probably deactivate Wonder Guard or something
Is hitting everything for neutral damage, and only neutral that great offensively?
Ghost is one of the best (if not THE best) offensive types in the game currently exactly for that reason, just as Dragon was before Gen 6.
>quiver dances in your path
>Rainbow type
>deals neutral damage against every regular pokémon
>deals supereffective damage against other Terastallized pokémon
Let's take this a step further since that would be imbalanced:
Deals SE damage against Terastalized Pokemon
Takes SE damage from Terastalized Pokemon
would be too broken if it just beats every other tera, no point in using any other tera type at that point
what I think they could do is it's neutral to every type except itself, being super effective vs itself but I think just being completely neutral is more likely (and more balanced)
also I think it'll probably be named rainbow tera type as well
>Calm mind
>Sub
>Healing move
>Plus the catch all move that hits literally everything
Wow, what a fun and interactive game
Since there seem to be comp smarties in this thread, how did Garganacl or whatever it was turn out? Not played SV yet.
Extremely prevalent in OU as an amazing wall that can force progress.
A bit of a shame that in order to break the "shitty slow rock type wall" curse it has to be given 2 signatures, but as it stands, it's good.
Thanks, that's nice to see.
2? Salt cure and? Or you mean the ability as well
inb4 you can only get it from DLC-exclusive event raids
Pokemon has been brainwashed. They use rainbow colors. The world has fallen.
Pokemon has literally used rainbows since gen 1 you fricking zoomer dipshit.
name 15 times
>every gen 1 town is named after colours, leading to a rainbow theme
>Ho-Oh, the rainbow pokemon
>rainbow rocket
>rainbows are created when fire and water pledge are used together
>no less than 3 forms of rainbow energy in the TCG
>the TCG also has cards whose rarity is defined by being rainbow coloured
>gen 7 fairy trial
>Extreme evoboost
>rainbow pokeblocks
>the mega evolution symbol
>to a lesser extend, Z-moves in general
>(you), anon, are gay
>so is that fricker from the gen 3 frontier, you know who I'm on about
>and N for that matter
>the 19th tera type
Not to mention the Rainbow Badge
But gen 1 was monochrome.
If the items for it aren't called Rainbow Shards I'll eat my hat
You'll need 50 shards of each type to make that tera hat.
the fact they didn't give arceus this upsets me deeply
Arceus got the Legend Plate which is probably better than whatever this is
Didn't they retcon Arceus to be only a small fraction of power of the real thing instead of "GOD"
It was never a retcon people are just morons and keep trying to force the "Creation Trio" into Christian mythology analogues.
Don't know about that trio stuff, but PLA straights up says Arceus is small fraction of its power
Yes, and it's dex entries have always implied that the form we see and catch is just one arm of 1000
No that’s just a Induism reference. If you didn’t get it already Arceus is a mix or many deities. Like Ra. Like Zeus. Like the holy trinity. And so on
It's both. Arceus' design is reminiscent of a hand, it is metaphorically and literally one out of a thousand limbs. It's probably best thought of as an avatar of the true Arceus
The idea is that the arceus you own is just a bit of power the actual arceus granted you. It's practically a clone.
At least how I remember it, its been a year and a half.
No, you're correct. It's a small fraction of power, The arceus we've seen so far is just mini clones.
You can also rematch Arceus with your own Arceus
Oh shit, that's cool
Wow, that’s really lazy
They showed it on Baxcalibur, so it's safe to assume any Pokemon can get it. But we also don't know the mechanics behind it- any Pokemon being able to have perfect coverage with a single move sounds moronic.
>more Tera trash that will disappear by the next game
I can't even pretend to feel excited about it tbh.
>B-BUH THE NEXT GAME
you don’t play any of the games to begin with
Probably gets STAB on all attacks
Kinda bullshit some stupid turtle got this before Arceus
Turtles are cooler than some overgrown llama. Arceus was a mistake.
what do you expect from GF's lore and world building
I think that's the point. terastallization itself is already mimicking arceus' god powers of multitype. terapagos is probably just another god but less on the nose like dialga and palkia being gods of spacetime
In HGSS it's pretty explicit that the Arceus the player can use is the 'real' creator, but then in LA they retcon it so the playable unit called 'Arceus' is just a piece of the 'real' creator, which is also called Arceus. You can also fight it as a boss where it has identical stats/etc to the playable unit
This isn't necessarily a Gen 8 retcon, though; in Platinum's postgame Cynthia claims the legendary Pokemon aren't really gods and that the ancient people must have just thought that because they were so powerful. But then in the very next game, HGSS, she literally watches Arceus create another universe and just says "wow poggers" so who knows
Arceus' own 'dex entry says it shaped the world with "its many arms". Arceus' silhouette is a hand, stretched out. Furthermore, we (being /vp/ of the early years, when Gen 4 was current) had already come to the consensus Arceus the pokémon was but a fraction of Arceus the deity, because the 'dex is absolute canon, thus Arceus must be something more than in-game portrays..
Problem, is most people denied the creation myth told in Gen 4 and said Arceus couldn't have created the pokémon world because reasons and malding and i don't want an overgrown sheep to have made everything reeee. Nothing changed, except Game Freak made it explicitly clear, for the simple kids what the skinny was.
Basically this. We also called Unown being involved
>Hits Landorus
>Hits Heatran
>Hits Corviknight
>Hits Ferrothorn
>Hits Rotom
>Perfect neutral
>ALMIGHTY DAMAGE
Didn't lockstin already make a video about this
Basically Rock wins if I recall
Could be a spiritual successor to the legends plate for terapagos (chamges terapagos' type and move to one that is most super effective type against the target)
Game Freak is absolutely fricking horrid at balancing, but I seriously doubt they would completely invalidate literally every other tera type by giving you one that perfectly adapts to the offensive coverage you need.
Sounds like something GF would absolutely do especially if its just for one mon
>especially if its just for one mon
>No argument
Why do I need an argument? You haven't kept up with the news.
It shows Baxcalibur using it so there goes your headcanon you enormous moron
>1 boosting move, 2 STAB moves, and Tera blast
>Every rainbow Tera moveset is the same
>1 boosting move
>Substitute
>Tera Blast
>A move that hits Skeledirge and Clodsire
My bet's on a true neutral type that can't give a tera boost to anything except tera blast, but those with special forms like Ogerpon and Terapagos will get unique variations that do actually give a special type chart and tera boosts to specific types depending on the Pokemon.
It will be an exclusive form, around 26 Pokes will get it. The Gigamegaterastalization. Megabros keep winning
