The core mechanics are fine, but it's quite buggy, and it keeps telling me i slept 2-3 hours less than i did. The amount of microtransactions are also dumb.

      Keep seething about PLA
      Best game since BW2

PLA is overrated and a bit mediocre
Lack of trainer fights means that the only meaningful content in the game is catching, which is fine, but repetitive with the tasks you need to do to fill out a Pokedex
BW2 is good but HGSS is better
I know I'm responding to a shitposter but whatever

PLA getting overrated is just the natural consequence of a few unique factors of the series. Fans that don't really play any other games and don't care to, games that have been pretty much complete copy paste jobs since day 1, and the decline in quality over recent gens.
It isn't what could be considered a good game by video game standards for a variety of reasons, but it tried to do something for the first time in this series's life and actually paid attention to making the game feel good to play, so naturally a lot of people hold it up on a pedestal.
I do as well, specifically because it's an example of ideas come forward when Ohmori and the late Masuda are completely removed from a project, and how some of those ideas are inline with what I'd like to see from the series even if they need some continued development.

I was hoping it'd be a simple tracker that was cute and you caught mons like they already have (different mons with different sleep) but instead not only is it all of the above it adds a bunch of unnecessary shit and dialogue for systems i give no shit about. Feeding Snorlax? why? new islands? why? just track my sleep, sell my data, give me cute mons that sleep differently. Thats it.

    Frick you Nintendo.

I thought the snorlax-feeding mechanic was a way to encourage the user to also eat 3 meals a day, to improve sleep.

        Anonymous

was that it? it felt like a lot of bloat that didn't feel like it was needed in an app to track your sleep and slighty gamify it. they should put that effort back into the main games.

          >Main games
Do you think this is developed by gamefreak or something like a moron

            Anonymous

No, its Select Button and Niantic. But considering Nintendo/Game Freak outsource dev time for other products (such as Sleep) you would think that same sort of money and ideas can go into the mainline games which ironically has become worse than these spin-offs.

            [...]
Snorlax power is also meant to encourage keeping up a consistent sleep schedule and using your pokemon. You have to raise a stronger Snorlax to complete the dex, and you have to be checking every day to get berries and ingredients from your team to raise power.

Thanks for clarifying, that makes a little more sense as to the reasoning for including.

              Anonymous

Yeah the small funding TPC/creatures may have given to some other devs to make a dinky little sleep app is definitely the reason why the mainline games are bad and not the fact that gamefreak insists on using small dev teams with Ohmori as the lead director while having to release games almost yearly

    >Get 4.5 hours of 'credit' for my sleep to calculate my score

    >Test what sort of score I can get whilst 'sleeping' with my phone on my comp desk next to me whilst I study
    >I get more score for a 3 hour 'sleep' where the app thinks I had a 'balanced' sleep with variation in sleeping rythymns, compared to how I actually sleep over 8 hours.

There's a lot of things about the game that annoys me in a million tiny ways. From having to click the berries and ingredients to harvest them, which takes forever, taking pictures of sleeping Pokemon takes forever, scrolling the screen takes forever. Everything is so damn slow. It doesn't help that the second level is significantly worse than the first.
The microtransactions are horrible. They're constantly shoving it down your throat, poking you and demanding money.

The only thing I hate is this shit. I spend hard earned biscuits to get a Pokémon’s friendship level up, and suddenly it’s just full. Can’t feed it anymore, so all I can do is say goodbye to my wasted resources and recognise that there will be no catches today. Some Pokémon get full and some don’t, it seems completely random.

cause it's a game you place once a day and that's it, not to mention extremely dangerous, boring and you often wake up to find you have the same 4-5 pokemon as the previous nights, it's boring, I don't see it lasting long.

      What’s dangerous about it?
It’s a game that’s supposed to get more chunky as you spend more time on it.

You also need to at least play it 3x to feed snorlax and get items. It IS boring but it’s also low exposure so realistically you only spend like 15mins a day on it.

THIS is the real problem. What the frick were they thinking? The Pokémon DO return though.

It’s worth noting that you shouldn’t even bother with the low level first evos and just hold out.

This shiny was after my first night (after tutorial). Quite proud of it.

So there's only one of each species? So if i have a Wynaut at 4/5 friendship points then he will show up again later with the same amount of points?

          Anonymous

Yeah the ones you’ve fed previously will come back at some point even if there’s multiple of the same species. I’ve had it happen a few times… it’s also fine to use the bonus biscuit on anything. You get one a day which is 3 bars, 9 if they’re extra hungry. I would suggest to not buy regular pokeball biscuits but you can’t even buy the great ones unless you fricking pay for the sub. Another failure on their behalf.

            Anonymous

i was thinking the same thing, i literally can only buy pokeballs lmao. So unless some of the pokemon are hungry, i'm basically not able to catch a friend from zero.

              Anonymous

Yeeeeeeah… it’s pretty shit. You can get lucky sometimes and out of nowhere a bonus will occur even if they’re not showing the hungry status.

Im currently struggling with the whole candy thing. Seems arbitrary to make it so slow to get candy when everything else is literally at a deficit already.

To speed the progression along it helps to create a few teams to rotate around during the day. I personally don’t bother but I assume that’s another key element.

I keep up with it because it’s basically an easier GO. The only issue is that it feels like you’re always in “debt”… it’s hard to explain. It has low Pokémon exposure too which is pretty shit. They need to lower the requirements to 6 hours of sleep for max benefits. The biscuits are pretty fricking dumb too.
