The reason that it is 2 disks is that they want to make the games, the trilogy a physical product. No "put disk and then install the rest of the game through download". No need to for internet, just install and play. Thats it.

They added two boss fights in the Mythril mines (not in the original, being separated into two teams) so something tells things have been removed, rearranged or replaced. I honestly don't see them adding all the content from the original, even if they rushed things through.

Maybe the game isnt strucuted as we all thought (like, one area in between cities), but a big area where multiple cities can exist.

I did. The 1998 PC port had four discs but one of them was the install disc. I believe the game discs were only used to play the fmvs.
