I had one on launch but switched to PC in 2007 after multiple RROD/RMAs. The gap between PC and 360/PS3 after 2008 was huge. Literally 600p 25fps low settings (or lower then low in some), extremely small FoV in fps games vs 1080/60/decent graphics/high FoV.
PC games were also extremely cheap during this time pretty much half the 360 prices on launch and dirt cheap Steam sales before they went to shit.
Games like Battlefield 3 didn't even have the full game on console, the maps were cut down in size and the playercount was 14v14 or some shit.

The vent holes with green hue on the inner side, the Blu-ray drive being integrates from the get go, the idea that it's a "box" being well represented. That was always a weak gimmick. Problem is it required two pieces of hardware, and an internet connection if you were playing outside your home. And it came with many of the same failings you could expect from streaming gameplay.
They could very well still do the Switch gimmick, hell the PSP 2000 and 3000 both had the ability to connect to a TV. Just, remote play was always kinda shit.
In hindsight, PlayStation was a fluke. Only the PS1 and PS2 were good, and it was only because all of their competitors were shitting the bed. The second Sony has any reasonably competent competition they fold.

I've been using playstation as a third party support multiplat machine since the PS4. Sony already destroyed the notion that exclusives are important when they didn't make the PS5 backwards compatible with the PS3 and instead are only giving us a handful of PS1 emulated games like we didn't have these already all the way back on the PS1. Games like MGS4 are STILL locked to the PS3 even though it was their big exclusive back in the day.

As a former Xcuck the Dualsense is the best controller yet. Also sold my ps4 slim and controllers for about 300 bucks last year. Multiplats were starting to run like shit on that years ago. Control ran at about 15 fps so Im just glad to have high framerate on my couch again

No, it was PS3. PS4 has like 3 games. 1 of them is shared with the Vita and the 3rd is currently in the process of getting ported to literally every other current platform. That's fricking terrible for an entire console generation and it's happening because Sony only makes trash, which is of course why PS5 is also suffering a similar fate.

That was always a weak gimmick. Problem is it required two pieces of hardware, and an internet connection if you were playing outside your home. And it came with many of the same failings you could expect from streaming gameplay.
They could very well still do the Switch gimmick, hell the PSP 2000 and 3000 both had the ability to connect to a TV. Just, remote play was always kinda shit.

In hindsight, PlayStation was a fluke. Only the PS1 and PS2 were good, and it was only because all of their competitors were shitting the bed. The second Sony has any reasonably competent competition they fold.
PS4 came out in late 2013 and only had one game until early 2017. Even now I'd maybe say it has like 4 games. It's nothing compared to PS1/2.

Funnily enough, not even on par with good PS3 exclusives after that many years. I'm a firm believer that exclusives don't sell a lot of consoles. Most normies just play 3rd party titles anyways. Even the exclusives that sold well on the PS4, are just shitty movie games, like god of war or tlou. But from a consumer perspective with not shit taste, they just aren't keeping up with themselves. I'm gonna be pretty surprised if getting a PS5 is ever gonna be worth it for me who already has a decent PC.

I've been using playstation as a third party support multiplat machine since the PS4. Sony already destroyed the notion that exclusives are important when they didn't make the PS5 backwards compatible with the PS3 and instead are only giving us a handful of PS1 emulated games like we didn't have these already all the way back on the PS1. Games like MGS4 are STILL locked to the PS3 even though it was their big exclusive back in the day.
Last good Playstation was the PSP. PS4 was okay, but mostly because Microsoft decided to tank that generation.

I bought an Xbox Series X and then 3 days later my turn in Sony Direct popped so I ordered a PS5. This would normally lead to a scheduling conflict but since both systems have no games I think I’ll survive

What was good about the PS4? It fricking sucked. I have fewer games for the thing than any other console I have ever owned. It introduced the absolute cancer that is paid online to Playstation, the controller has an unbelievably shit battery life, it had an incredibly poorly conceived mid-cycle "Pro" version, and it even had its own Kinect moment with the PSVR and the fricking Wonderbook shit that plagued multiple E3s.
