But oddly enough, anti-trans sentiment actually saved me from ruining my life because it exposed me to the ugly side of transitioning that these groomers try to hide, such as the health issues you run into, the mental problems that arise as a result, and the fact that I'd still be ugly even if I transitioned.
I've long since cut her out of my life and have been working hard on self improvement. I've lost weight and been taking better care of myself, and while my self-esteem might never truly improve, I'm happier having accepted myself as male than I'd be living a life and butchering my body. The fact that she showed no hesitation whatsoever in trying to push me into chuding out still makes me angry to this day. It's such a genuinely ghoulish thing to do.

It places greater emphasis on other movement options. A lot of people don't, or have not played old fighting games where the lack of movement options isn't really that big of an issue because walk speeds were high and the average distance between characters was fairly low, not to mention there often being baked in movement options for characters such as E. Honda's headbutt. Samurai Shodown has slow movement speeds but the space between characters is tighter than it seems because everyone has crazy threat range on top of how high the blowup potential is.
Because anime games try to undermine the importance of neutral movement in any way possible. By making walking backwards impractical or useless you prevent people from making subtle movements back and forth to bait with spacing, instead people can only retreat with committed animations like backdash or jump/IAD backwards. This is one of the many reasons why anime has no neutral.
But anime games have the the most punishing rewards for anti-airing and punishing airborne approach in the genre.

How much health the wall has is a huge factor in high level combo routing, requiring often vastly different combo routes to ensure the wall either does not break, breaks in the optimum position for super for oki, or breaks with maximum damage. You have three different end-goals to choose from AND any different number of hits to achieve that goal.

Per character combo variety is not even vaguely equivalent to in-match dynamic combo variety. You aren't making choices there, you're just grinding out a different set of always-optimal combos.

It absolutely is, because every character will need specific adjustments and inherently deeper combo theory depending on who they are, where you are on the screen, what they get hit by etc., don't pretend for a second Strive is doing anything new coming from the old games, don't ever pretend it's more dynamic than older games or really most game around because you have shitty mechanics DoA had since ages ago.
This is doubly important when we consider corner scenarios because unlike Strive, you have a much wider variety of scenarios due to again, better universal mechanics and deeper movesets, let alone the fact that you don't have those toddler tier 1 second screen freeze for easy confirms.
