Most people don't like the excessive waifu pandering that they've forced in every mainline title due to it being a factor in Awakening's success. The actual issue is the map design sucks compared to old games and their weird obsession with avatar/silent MCs, which objectively hurts the narrative. It's probably too late for FE17 but hopefully them seeing everyone loving Byleth after they got an actual personality and became a real character in Three Hopes leads to no silent MC for FE18.

Three Houses was weird about that, they got rid of the weapon triangle, yet there were still skills that granted the same effects as the weapon triangle, so why do away with it in the first place?

I imagine it was to make your units more versatile because you're stuck with a smaller pool of units that you're able to customize however you want, they don't want you to customize yourself into a corner.
All the customization really took away from the fun of going out of your way to recruit certain characters and building them up to create a well rounded force depending on the conditions of each map.
They DID get rid of it, but they replaced it with skills that are functionally the same, but the game is so easy you're never really going to use them anyway.
After playing and loving three houses I decided to try the mobile game out and the weapon triangle fricking sucks dick, knowing that's in older fire emblem games makes me not want to go back and try them
I hope they make more games like 3 houses with cool character relationships and just add a map randomizer for skirmishes or something

Frick Ganker for hyping up Ike's game, not only was it easy as frick thanks to Titania, but out of the entire game maybe 2 characters worth remembering in Soren and Jill, and even they are only standouts among the literal sea of nothing characters that make up the rest of the cast. I got halfway through Conquest and dropped it on the map with the huge fans, at that point I realized I was sick of the constant gimmicky maps, and some previously awful maps like the Ninja Rape Dungeon and "lmao we're not gonna explain how Kitsunes work" soured my opinion of it even further. The bad story didn't help though ironically I did kind of like Corrin a little.

Fire Emblem getting too many games is a meme. We've only gotten one FE game on Switch and Intelligent Systems hardly even worked on it, meanwhile Paper Mario, WarioWare, and even Advance Wars just got brand new games. The reality is that we get way too many warriors games and Koei Tecmo needs to find something else to do.
Xenoblade on the other hand has gotten three retail releases on Switch with a fourth one on the way and unlike IS, Monolith is a part of Nintendo and could easily assist more with other games.
At the very least Nintendo could stop aggressively dumping money into Monolith and work on expanding EPD Tokyo or the Zelda team, or acquire Camelot (who's been downsizing presumably under budget constraints) or Mercury Steam before they're fully bought by another publisher, or form a new studio out of former Skip/AlphaDream devs.

Also in the early 2000s, the creator of Fire Emblem left the company to make games similar to Fire Emblem on the PS1 and PS2, Nintendo don't want something like that happening again.

the premise is already there, dual strike had sync bonuses for CO's when you paired them, the flop that was days of ruin (it flopped due to complete Incompetence, not gameplay or such issues, zero marketing, no japan release etc etc) was kinda okay, you had briefing room dialogue and character bonding over that.
