A lot of people run old unsupported drivers on old abandoned OSes without realizing it even if they think they are 'up to date'.
You might try booting up an up to date live environment from a USB stick to see if it has the same issues.

I have a 7900XT and run everything at 4k ultra unless it's like.. cyberpunk or a very short list of other games. 99.99% of all games ever made at 4k ultra 100fps+

Maybe he was using a GNU/Linux based OS? AMD cards perform about 2 tiers higher with the exclusive gaming drivers you can't get on legacy OSes.

1080p is now where 720p was in 2015 - low. 1440p replaced 1080p as baseline normal resolution.

      >1080p

OP is a moron, but 1080p is perfectly fine if you're aiming for high framerate.

        >high framerate
i get around 150fps at 1440p/ultra without DLSS. i could get twice that much by tweaking settings a little and enabling DLSS. 1080p is for people who want to spend a lot on hardware or who are sitting really close to the monitor.

1080p is completely fine if you have smaller monitor like 24". I recently got 27" 1440p, but its not honestly "that" much better. You get used to everything.

          Anonymous

Yeah screen size is a very important part of this, I always sit close to my monitor so I prefer smaller ones and I'm still good with 1080p. The Deck and Switch Lite also look pretty good with their low resolutions because they're just small enough to get away with it.

      Reviewing THE
RX 7900 XTX = 7.9 inches "gets the job done" "budget porn industry" not anyone's first choice. Ironically slightly better at making your software horny and ready to go and makes you cum at acceptable levels, but often comes with a lot of bugs, caveats, accidents. It's big and it's dumb, it's not the size but how you use it and the RX 7900 XTX has either a dumb driver or a lack of driver in charge of it. It doesn't come with all the polish, all the bells and whistles of Nvidia's wiener that is 70% better at foreplay, moving in rhythm, keeping a consistent pace, learning new positions, knowing how to move its wiener in circular movements, giving a satisfying climax. Radeon is the big dumb brick you thought you were going to have fun with, but the driver is completely absent minded and doesn't know what it's doing. It is completely unoptimized for what you want it to do, it does the basic minimum requirements and that's all you can ask of it, ask more of it and you'll be disappointed. It's second choice and budget choice for a reason, enjoy your big dumb lug.

      - moron, 1080 p is still enaugh
but what op meant 1080p is actualy 2k with amd superresolution upscaling

Same boat, likely gonna get a 6800xt. I've had the 5700xt for about 5 years so the replacement will hopefully do me for another 5

you might as well still wait for pcie5 gpu , maybe rx8xxx or rx9xxx

1080p is fine, but why settle for just fine when you could go 1440p 144hz
no, 4k is a meme for literal Black folk who think "more resolution = better" even though it's just upscaled and not actually native 4k and runs like shit

actualy in modern games 2k is preferable due to high detail, but 4k is just pointless (it was moronic in 2016)

Same, the difference going from 1080 is so minor but makes frame rates harder to keep up

the difference is small but it is noticable, but with modern tech there is little difference in fps
i see bigger difference between fullhd and 2k than between 80 fps and 140 fps (also the fps dif between those resolutions is like 20/30 fps)

Not even youtube thinks that anymore. 1080p is decade old trash, just as outdated and shitty as 720p was a decade ago. There is NO reason not to at least be on 1440p.

This. Some games just outrigted blackscreened on 1080p. But magically worked if you turned to res to 1440p. And other kind of idiotic shit. RX 5000 and Vega cards had worse than usual AMD launch driver issues.

    >This fricking thing crashes every single time I turn off my tablet monitor and hangs on a black screen for 2 minutes until my 5120x1440 monitor flickers back on when the GPU resets
The GPU also crashes when you play video games for a few hours and you close the game. I finish playing OW and try watch a youtube video or something and it hangs and locks up, the longer the gaming session the harder the crash and hang time.
All of the Radeon technologies are a risk, a couple months back you could even get perma banned from CS if you updated your drivers and it had anti0lag on.
Dishonest code monkeys frrom India make sure to cause problems for them to keep their jobs putting out their own fires, they can't just innovate and make NEW shit that improves their dense software package that disappears after you play an intensive game.

because 1080p is pixelated in the same way 720p is and as long as you aren't playing AAA trash you can play 1440p perfectly and even if you play last decade AAA trash
there's nothing wrong with plugging in a controller and locking it to 30 fps because those games don't require precision input

You guys think the new super cards will impact prices at all? I know they're probably going to suck ass, but still, it would be nice if the 60's and 70 cards dropped, maybe the AMD cards would see a price decrease as well.

      Anonymous

      yes but not immediately
there'll be people dumping their cards to buy the new ones, they'll sell the old ones on the used market like ebay
you'll get their old ones (new for you) at reduced prices
then only after those get bought will the retail prices go down

lolno at least not for europoors like myself 20xx or hell even some 10xx cards are still 300+ dollarydoos they'll raise the price but will never ever lower now that they've noticed idiots will buy anything regardless.

        Anonymous

Sure the xx80 and 90 cards are never dropping in price but I figured that's because the high end cards are still used by cr*ptogays, I don't think mid range cards like 60's and 70's have the same guaranteed market and thus might be more subject to price changes when new versions come out. Still, it's entirely possible that you're right about them only increasing prices for new cards and never lowering them, I'm just coping and hoping I won't have to sell my ass for my new build.
