>2020: We ensure you, the Xbox Series S won't hold back next-gen games
>2023: Actually ok maybe it does hold back next-gen games

Wow, all that turned out to be PR bullshit, and common sense logic of a weaker console causing problems with more demanding games turned out to actually be true? I'm fricking shocked.

Anon I've been a committed Series Shit hater since day 0 and even I know that Ballshurt Gay 3 had lazy as frick optimization if they can't get it to run on the Series S. It's literally a turn based table top simulator, it has no excuse to claim it can't run on this shitbox.

Nope. A series s should be on par with a 2060 desktop pc more or less. You just proved that ballhomosexual 3 devs were lazy.

      >le lazy devs excuse

Yeah, because that worked so well for the N64 and PS3 didn't? If a console is too hard to deal with, a lot of devs just arent gonna bother even trying.

Reminder BG3 isn't doing anything special in gameplay that wasn't done with hardware with literally 128 MB of RAM or less.

As if you can't set different graphics quality settings per system.

You really can't. You can't release a game on Xbox if both systems don't have parity

                Anonymous

                Feature parity, not graphics parity.
RE4make has much lower quality assets on Series S compared to Series X
SF6 has simpler character meshes on Series S that don't have the muscle deformation whereas Series X has the that tech

                >You can't release a game on Xbox if both systems don't have parity
Completely untrue, as many Xbox games run worse on Series S compared to Series X. I don't know why you would lie like that when Microwiener even lists their requirements publicly as part of their dev kit documentation.

BG3 being a CRPG with AAA production values is clearly a big draw with the game.

well if we want to be real here, it's 2 things. the first is that the series s only has 10gb of ram. that's shit. the second is that most pcgays aren't going to do splitscreen multiplayer so it'll run fine for them. the game was optimized for pc and that's based. the console ports were an afterthought and the series s can't brute force it like the others can.

i'd much rather have it this way than the games optimized for playstation that run like shit on pc because of the ue5 stuttering.

      >if they can't get it to run on the Series S
If it can run on a Steam Deck there's no reason why the SeSbox can't run it, hell the SeS is more powerful than the Steam Deck right?

of course it doesn't hold back anything. you simply make worse graphics for s versions and lower resolution and stuff

    Developers are holding back games
You see games come out with a 3060 as a "recommended" card for 1080p 60FPS with DLSS on quality, minimum is for 30FPS
How the frick did it come to this? devs are using DLSS and FSR as a crutch to hit playable framerates due to terrible optimization

    >moved up PC launch date to not compete with starfield
    >release on PS5 the same date as starfield
    >even if they released the Xbox version it would have been outshadowed by starfield anyways so they chose to delay it to next year

They just dont want to bother fixing the game because it's gonna be competing against starfield.

    >Actually ok maybe it does hold back next-gen games
It doesn't, devs just have to get better about using the SSD to load shit in and out of memory
    Consider picrel
The Series S has the same VRAM as the Recommended GPU.
The Min Spec on PC is about as powerful as the Series S GPU in terms of TFLOPS but is half the VRAM.
I give you my word, the Series S is probably the only thing keeping Series X and PS5 games from dropping to 2K and sub-30 FPS

I'll laugh my ass off once they announce a Switch port next year like that other dev that said the exact same shit did.

Oh they absolutely will. Or a Switch 2 launch year port.
The Series S's only sin is having a small installbase. The only reason these homosexuals don't complain about the Series X the same way is because their ports to that system are really basic-b***h ports that require minimal extra memory management compared to the PS5 version (the primary SKU for all devs these days)

If theyre downgrading it for the Series S you might as well make a Switch version while you're at it.
